Chapter 16 - Wait...what? Frost Mana? | Second Kill

After burying the tiger nearby, I grip the skill core tighter.

A pop-up appears in front of me.

「Would you like to learn Frost Reinforcement?」

「Y/N」

I tap yes after slighting hesitating. I know what I'm about to do isn't something I can ever undo; however, I need to do it. I don't want die so quickly.

「User Caden has learned the Frost Reinforcement | D」

Frost Reinforcement? That oddly sounds...like something I might not be able to use. After all, I don't have any frost skills to reinforce...nah, I'm probably just thinking too hard. I mean, when has the system EVER stopped me from using my skills, right? Nope, never, definitely can't remember a single time at all.

「Skill: Frost Reinforcement | D (Boosted)

「A passive skill that increase the strength of the user's Frost by 55% while making other skills that use the attributed essence more durable. If the skill holder's is not Frost, this skill is useless. Current Skill Level: 1」

GOD-I KNEW IT! ANOTHER SCAM OF A SKILL! I WENT THROUGH SO MUCH COMTEMPLATION! AND FOR WHAT?

Before I gave up on that skill completely, a pop up appeared in front of me.

「Due to Frost Reinforcement, Mana started wildly reacting in user's body」

...what? It started...wildly reacting? I'll be honest with you, that doesn't sound very good. It's reacting wildly? What's it going to do? Explode?

Thankfully, it didn't. Instead, I learned that this skill was truly a blessing!

Mana has calmed down」

Mana can now be transformed into Frost Mana for a certain period of time」

Frost Reinforcement | D has evolved into Frost Mana Reinforcement | C」

I am once again left speechless. What in the world is mana, and why is it so damn op?!?!?

Wait, hold on. What even is a essence attribute?

"Uhhhh, system? Do you have a tutorial for Essence Attribute?" I say, not really expecting an answer. However, a prompt appeared in front of me.

「Would you like to view the Tutorial?」

「Warning: Please get to a safe place before viewing the tutorial」

「Y/N」

A safe place? I don't think the middle of the forest is all that safe to be honest with you.

I look around in hopes of finding a safe place to stay in while viewing the tutorial but there isn't one. Aw man, I guess I'll just have to wait until I finish this ascension quest.

Speaking of which, I should probably hurry up on that. I don't have that much time left before I need to be a deity. If reaching the bottleneck to the deity realm is as hard as the system says it is, I probably need to hunt a lot of beast to level up.

And so I continue on my journey, looking around for more Demi-gods. Turns out, I didn't have to wait that long.

As I was walking, I saw a slight hue of red near a bush. Thankfully, the beast seemed to be on the other side, so I could use the bush to observe what type of animal it is.

Zooming behind the bush, I take a peak at the being I'm about to face.

The being I saw had long, majestic feathers spreading out, standing tall behind its back, with the ends looking so bright as if they contained the sun itself within them. Its body was a darker, crimson-y color, but a short yellow beak.

As soon as I saw it, I realized it resembled an animal I know well: A peacock. 'What in the world? Why are so many beasts here basically recolors of beasts I've seen back on Earth?' I thought as I inched closer to the Peacock.

I need to end it with one strike. If I don't, the peacock will most likely fly away. Thinking back to my resolve, I grip my stick tightly as I create a spearhead on it with Frost Mana.

'Woah! That looks so cool!' I think as an alluring azure blue colored blade appears on my stick. However, now was not the time to be mesmerized by the color as I take a deep, but quiet, breath.

Gripping the stick as tightly as ever, I use as much of my might as I can as I thrust the spear forward, hitting the peacock right in the middle of its body.

"KWAAAAAAAAA!" The peacock screeched, looking around to see what had hit it; however, it was too late.

I twist the spear around, hoping that would be enough to kill this freakish bird. However, it suddenly turns its head towards me. Oh no! It spotted me!

I quickly de-summon the stick and starting running, not a second going to waste. That choice was a very good idea as the peacock suddenly start spouting fire.

Soon, the whole forest started burning down. Oh no. Oh no no no. This is not good. This is not good at all! I start thinking of ways to get out this. That's right! Water dragon!

I quickly cast water dragon, aiming it straight at the peacock.

"Didn't your parents tell you not to play with fire?" I say as I shoot the dragon straight towards it, thinking it was a cool line. In hindsight, it was most likely the stupidest thing I've ever said.

The dragon pierces through the many layers of fire between me and the peacock as it speeds towards it. The peacock, with apparent panic in its eyes, starts shooting every spell it can onto the dragon. However, it didn't stand a chance.

The dragon hit the already heavily injured peacock as it simply pierces through its body, coming the other side. It created a hole the length of a fist, so clean that one could look from one side and see the other side without any disruptions. However, none would do that because it is simply disgusting since the peacocks organs are still there in its body if you looked into it.

However, killing the peacock doesn't mean I've won. The fire is spreading rapidly and I need to stop it. Thankfully, due to the peacock barely using the water dragon spell's power, it was still there, speeding forward.

Now all I need to is completely redirect its route to aim it back to where I'm standing so that it can stop the flames spread around.

However, there might be one teensy weensy problem with that...

To put it simply, I have no clue how to do that. Not a single one.
