"Mayumi! Please pass those crabs and shrimps! Please!" I begged my new Timawa friend, named Mayumi.
"You really have a good appetite, my friend. You may have more red rice and ripe mangoes too!" Mayumi replied as she offered more food.
That was the most epic lunch ever! It had been a very long time since I had eaten delicious fresh food, especially seafood. Since I had lived in a city before, I always ate ready-to-eat or processed foods. Seafood is very expensive in our city. It may cost up to 600 bucks for just one meal!
Anyway, I also made a new friend. Mayumi belongs to a Timawa class. Timawas are the privileged intermediate class of ancient Visayan society. I was very lucky that Mayumi saw me in the forest a few days ago, despite my uncertain situation at that time. Because there are slave classes here, and I definitely did not want to be a slave!
When elders asked Mayumi where I came from, she made up a story that I was an escaped illegitimate daughter of a Tagalog Datu who had arrived alone by boat to Akean, known as the Province of Aklan in my original timeline. I could not believe they bought it. That is my partner in crime, Mayumi. Good job!
As I walked around exploring the surroundings, I saw some people who were painting tattoos on their bodies. They were the legendary pintados in Philippine history!
As I walked slowly toward them, it was a very exciting scene because most of them were muscular men wearing a bahag, or loincloth. Well, forget about that! Let me ask why they were doing that.
"Ahh, hi oppa? Why do you paint tattoos?" I asked the tall, dark, and handsome pintado.
"Oh, you mean batok? I just made my first kill as a warrior, that is why I am having a batok. And my name is Alindog, not Oppa," he replied.
"Oh, nice to meet you, Alindog. Nice batok too!" I replied, curling my hair flirtatiously.
Alindog. That is quite a name! By the way, tattoos are called batok by Visayan people.
"How about you? Do you want a batok too? What is your name, by the way?" Alindog asked.
"Ahh, ehem! My name is Patricia. Give me some batok too, please?" I charmingly replied.
Afterwards, I gave him my preferred tattoo design, which was a three-dimensional merkaba, and a yin-yang symbol. Alindog suggested that I take a bath first at the nearest river while he prepared the materials needed for my tattoo. I asked Mayumi to accompany me, and she agreed.
After Mayumi finished her bath, she went bird hunting for a moment with her bow as a hobby, but I just stayed soaking in the river because I was enjoying it.
"Beep! Beep!" A sound from some sort of smartphone or gadget suddenly came out of nowhere and caught my attention. As expected, it came from the tablet gadget that I had brought with us. I saw the screen was already on, and there was a button with text that said, "Please tap here to start Cosmic Induction Instant Charging." I did not understand it at all, so I just tapped it. A new window popped up and said, "Congratulations! The Quantum Battery is now fully charged eternally!"
I was absolutely amazed! I had no idea what was really going on. Then another window appeared and said, "Please register your DNA by placing your tongue on the screen in order to start using this device."
So I licked the device's screen as instructed, and a window appeared congratulating me for registering my DNA. After that, the desktop screen appeared, and I was shocked. It had an internet connection!
