Chapter 14 - My boss is my idol

That night, Ara was possessed by a vengeful ghost. The ghost took control of her body and led her to the edge of the river, preparing to force her to jump in. Tama and Devan, witnessing the terrifying scene, were paralyzed by fear. They were extremely worried about Ara's safety, but neither knew what to do. Tama had received powers from the grim reaper, but unfortunately, he had no idea how to use them. He feels confused.

As the ghost began to lift Ara's right foot, preparing to leap, Tama panicked and shouted, "Kiranaaa!!! Help me!!"

Suddenly, Kirana appeared in front of him, as if summoned by the call.

"Princess, help Ara, please!" Tama pleaded.

Without hesitation, Kirana raised her hand, channeling her inner energy. A brilliant light emerged from her palm, forming a glowing rope that flew through the air and wrapped tightly around Ara's body. The ghost let out a screech, forced to release Ara as it was pulled out of her.

"Ah, I almost caught him! Next time, he won't be so lucky!" Kirana shouted, frustrated that the spirit had slipped away.

"It's okay. The important thing is Ara is safe. Thank you, Princess," said Tama.

"Yes, thank you, Princess. Finally, I get to meet Tama's boss," added Devan.

"Hello, nice to meet you!" Kirana replied with a polite nod.

Ara, who had fainted, slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, but she could make out Devan's face. Then she turned her head and saw Tama.

"Tama... is that you?" she whispered.

"Ra, are you okay?" Tama asked with concern.

"So it's true... everything Devan said. You're still with us," she murmured.

Seeing Ara's body still weak, Tama asked Devan to escort her back to her house. "We'll talk about all of this another time," he said.

As Devan walked Ara home, Tama and Kirana made their way back to the villa. On the walk, Tama couldn't hide his curiosity.

"Princess, how did you arrive so quickly? I thought you were going to sell the jewelry with Denok?"

Kirana smiled and replied, "Let me tell you what happened."

One hour earlier

At Mr. Handsome Gold Shop in Tangerang, Kirana and Denok were engaged in a fierce bargaining session. After an intense negotiation, Kirana used her hypnotic abilities to convince the shop owner to buy the jewelry at a premium price. Denok was thrilled when the transaction was complete and was handed a suitcase filled with cash.

But before she could turn to celebrate with Kirana, the Princess had vanished.

"Wah! Where did she go? Princess? Oh no, where are you?" Denok shouted in confusion.

Back in the present, Kirana explained, "When you called me, Tama, I couldn't ignore it. My spirit responded instinctively."

Tama grinned. "So that means..."

"Means what?" Kirana asked.

"It means you belong to me, not the other way around! I called, and you came!"

"Tch, no lah! It was fate. It happened the same way with Mr. Udin once," she replied playfully.

Suddenly remembering Ara's ability to see him, Tama asked, "Why could Ara see me?"

"Because she was possessed by a vengeful spirit. When that happens, the host temporarily gains spiritual sight. So yes, she can now see ghosts too," Kirana explained.

Meanwhile, Devan had arrived at Ara's house only to find her family wasn't home—they were visiting an uncle in Tangerang. Ara, now frightened by her new ability to see spirits, pleaded with Devan to stay.

"No lah! What if the police come? We'll be arrested as an unmarried couple living together."

In Indonesia, this was still a legal and cultural concern.

But Ara looked pale and distressed. She pointed, trembling. "Van, look over there!"

Devan followed her gaze. "Oops, that's a Tuyul! Be careful with your wallet."

Even though Devan was once a coward who visited a shaman to get rid of Tama's ghost, he had become somewhat accustomed to supernatural encounters. Seeing Ara so disturbed, he agreed to stay until her parents returned. A little while later, they did, and Devan excused himself.

Back at the villa, Tama and Kirana were greeted by Denok, who looked annoyed.

"Well, this couple had a great weekend, huh? Meanwhile, I had to carry three suitcases alone. I ended up just throwing them out!" she snapped.

"Eh... Sister Denok—" Tama started, but she had already stormed off.

"Just let her be. She'll be fine tomorrow," Kirana said calmly. "You can rest now."

"Okay, Princess."

Kirana, surprisingly kind today, reminded Tama of something she once said—that she would appear whenever he needed her. Curious, Tama decided to test it.

"Kirana, help me!" he yelled.

Kirana popped into his room, wearing a cucumber mask. "Ugh, what now?!"

"I'm hungry," he said.

"Call Denok, not me!"

The next morning, Tama shouted again. Kirana appeared on his bed, still half-asleep. Tama burst out laughing—he had pranked her again. He managed to prank her five times that morning before she gave up.

Finally, Kirana dragged him to a secluded meadow.

"Wow, I didn't know this place existed!"

"Listen carefully. I'm going to teach you how to use your powers so you'll stop bothering me!"

"But I want you to stay with me always."

"I'll slice your neck!"

With her signature fierceness, Kirana began Tama's training. She taught him how to channel his energy, focusing it to project toward enemies. Hours passed, and finally, Tama succeeded. He was ecstatic.

As night fell, they returned to the villa. Tama was getting ready to leave.

"Be careful," Kirana said.

"Thank you, Princess. I'll be cautious."

"You better be. I don't want to lose my butler."

As Kirana disappeared into the villa, Tama stood quietly, thinking to himself, "So all this time, she only saw me as a servant... not a friend. I should've realized."

He left for Devan's house and asked his friend to accompany him for one last ghost hunt.

"Alright, bro. But today's the last time. Tomorrow I start my new job."

"Got it, bro. Let's make tonight count."
