Their boss was made of thicker stuff physically and mentally. He was ready to take a large risk in order to acquire freedom. He didn't feel nervous or guilty.
In fact, he was ready for their scheme to be exposed immediately, and he was ready to bear the consequences of that exposure.
But to prevent betrayal among them, their boss insisted that they all live in the same room for a few days until they gain their freedom. That way, they could keep an eye on each other and prevent one of them from exposing the others.
