Chapter 25 - 25 magic 101 part 1/2

After reviewing the book and comparing it to the one sans gave the only real difference i could find was that in my world mana is generated from a few sources:

1.from the core of the world

2.from any living/undead being

3.some speacial materials

4.when a large amount of natural energy is in one spot example: a forest is burning down and if the natural fire is large/strong enough, other types of mana (neutral mana, nature, earth, air etc) will slowly start converting into fire mana. But if for example a bit of fire mana is left alone in a place without much fire mana it will slowly convert into neutral mana.

But in the undertale world the only sources of mana seem to be from the core of the world and from the conversion.

The monsters of undertale also instead of generating mana seem to passively absorb it to exist and not turn into dust (so if an undertale monster were to be placed into a world without mana like project zomboid they would turn into dust once all of their mana was used).

There were also a few more interesting things in the book like that if a monster evolves in an area with high concentrations of one type of mana they are likely to evolve to include that type of element (regular wolf evolves in a area with high amounts of fire mana they may gain a ability to breathe fire or their evolution might revolve around that element) but it didn't really go into depth of how it happens or why it happens it said that for more information on evolution of monsters you should read: monster evolution by (insert irrelevant name).

And with that my routine until classes started was go to the library and reading the magic theory section at night, in the morning before my roommates woke up i leveled some of my skills and at the afternoon i was befriending my roommates and other people to make friends and have connections to future mages to exchange knowledge or getting help with researching something.

I did also search the library for tiering up in mana and found this book [tiers explained edition: mana].

The book consisted of how one can tier up in magic it had 2 ways of doing it.

1.the natural way: it was the slowest way to tier up but had no actual problems along the way besides the ungodly amount of time someone has to spend doing it. To do the natural way you just need to empty your body of mana and let it regenerate so it will increase on it's own. Normally a mage who starts from nothing and would do it this way it would take up to 20 years of nothing but using your mana and letting it regen. I actually was using this method right now since i almost never have my mana topped up and with my adaptation and super fast mp regen, i am thousands of times faster then regular people at this way.

2.mana core: you need to create your own mana core and then expand it by putting mana into it. It also gives a bonus when tiering up depending on where you create your mana core. The minus of a mana core is that you need to keep it stable when tiering up which needs some control and a lot of concentration.

2.A:mana veins: they can't really increase the amount of mana you have but if you pair it with your mana core it will become easier and faster to enlarge your mana core. The mana veins on their own are useless without the mana core but if you have both you can empower your body and it gives a bonus when tiering up.

I also read about magic circles and chanting/incantations (same thing it's interchangeable).

Magic circles if i had to say it in the simplest of terms: magic circles increase the strength of spells and lets you combine other magic schools to create a new spell (exemple: soul magic + fire magic = soul fire spell {but this is horribly simplified and it is much more complicated then this, to create a spell you need to combine spell components and the element})

(A.n: {i am taking inspiration from one skyrim mod: spell research really cool i recommend for anyone playing modded skyrim} to explain spell components i think it's best to show you how to make some sort of spell so here is an dragon lightning spell that seeks the target you fired at (simplified): element (lightning) + casting (fire and forget) + shape (dragon) + something similar to a computer code for seeking a target but in spell component form and also the components need parameters like for a fire spell on how hot is it and how far he wants the spell to go and a lot more minor details)

And for chanting it makes it easier to cast a spell so it is not needed but can be helpful if you are using some complicated spell like "bUrsT Of NevEr EnDinG hEllfIrE fLaMeS oF aNnIhiLaTioN" and chanting also helps with mana that is wasted when doing spells

[First day of school monday 4:55am magic theory/practice class...]

Stepping into class i look around and see that it looks like a regular classroom but without anything modern.

Walking to one of the chairs i almost instinctively picked one that was empty so i wouldn't have to talk to anyone but as much as i dislike it i sit besides some random guy and i greet and have a small conversation with him before class starts.

When class start the teacher walks in and he looks a bit like ryan renolds, he starts talking.

"Good morning class i am professor flimix and i will be teaching you magic theory and practice, now for attendance" and he starts listing names and we raise our hands when he said our names.

"Alright now with that out of the way let me tell you quickly what we will be doing in magic theory and practice" the teacher said.

"First in practice i will be teaching you how to use your mana more efficiently because most new mages when spellcasting waste about 25-40% of their mana and professional mages waste about 5~% which i don't think many of you knew and second i will teach you how to create your mana core and mana veins"

"For theory i will teach you about history of magic, what different types of magic do, spell components and about magic circles and incantations"

With that he started teaching us basics of magic theory and how to practice magic safely.

After the class was over the next one was electric magic with professor Eren.

After the introduction he said that for the first week he would teach us how to transform mana into electric mana and how to use it he also asked us which of us don't already know how to do it.

Surprisingly i learned it extremely fast only after 5 minutes of the explanation on how to transform your mana into electric mana which surprised even me and after creating a few electric sparks in my hand i found out that my electric magic affinity is 91/100.

The teacher did seem to note down that i managed to do it incredibly fast.

And it went something like that in most classes besides sound, healing, illusion, shadow, alchemy and enchanting classes which needed something different then just transforming your mana into a regular element but i will talk about that a bit later (next chapter).

After the morning classes were done and it was 10:50am i met up with my roommates and we talked a bit before getting lunch and i trained until it was 4:50pm and i went to another class that started at 5pm (changed his schedule cuz in chap 22 i said it was from 6pm but i forgot to count in magic theory class)

(End if chapter)

(A.n: No status this chapter since i want to show Connor's affinities after the magic type/school explanation)

(A.n: Some of the explanations of different schools of magic will be in the next chapter)
