Gina's POV.
"Rosalina," I called in a soft voice. The maid with me tilted her head up and I met her orange eyes.
"Yes, miss?" Ahh, she looks puzzled. But of course, it was because the original Gina would never call for Rosalina when she already did what she needs.
"Uncle is calling us for lunch, right?" I asked. I wanted to confirm if the memory I obtained as I possessed Gina Varsel's body matched. After all, the first thing you should do when finding yourself in an unfamiliar place is to clear your mind and look into your memories for clues.
"Ah, yes. The Varsel head wanted Miss Gina and the other young masters and misses to attend."
After answering my question, Rosalina left. After she walked out of my room, I walked into a seat and sat my ass there. I had twenty minutes left to myself before lunch. Should I look into the original's memories starting from childhood? Let's also include the history of 'my' father and uncle.
Of course!
Now, let's see.
Mmh. Gina's(my) father, Alucard Varsel, was the eldest son and was born from the first wife. Because of the special nature of the neutral Varsel duchy, it deals with corruption every so often and the Duke wanted an heir who can deal with it proficiently, so a test was put up to choose the best heir.
When the head of the family was planning to abdicate his/her position, they will call all their children and put them into a five-year test (no matter how old they are). The children will be given places to be managed, and the best and well-managed city under the 'operator' will be the heir. But, if there are two or more good 'operators', the test will change into a survival of the fittest.
Gina's(my) father, Alucard was one of the best ' operators' along with his other six siblings. Because the seven of them tied in some places, the test changed and they started cutting each other throats.

The current head, Alexander Varsel, was one of the eligible operators along with Alucard(this is in the past, of course), but unlike the other five who persistently hunted their eldest sibling(my father), he remained neutral and passive. In the end, Alucard killed his other five siblings and only spared Alexander. He then threw the position of the head to Alexander and vanished to be a mercenary.
When Alucard had 'Gina'(it's me~), he passed all his mercenary knick-knacks to her, unfortunately, Gina(me now) inherited her (dead)mother's brain and would rather study(though she(I) was proficient at using poisons and double-handed daggers.).
When Alucard was dying, he send Gina(which is me now) to Alexander to be taken care of. Alexander, in debt of his life being spared in the past, built another mansion for Gina(me, yes I got a mansion, so lucky~) so that she wouldn't meet his competitive(nasty) children.

The current Gina, which is me (now), is 15 years old. Alucard threw me in the Valser estate when I was 10, and so, I'm been staying here for more than five years. The original Gina was introverted and was always wearing a serious face all day long, so no one know what her real attitude is, which is beneficial for me, since I'm taking over now.
Now, let's go back to the current timeline, I'm sitting my ass into a fancy seat and wasted ten minutes telling you all of that above. Now, what's next?
Should I go to the background of the novel?
As I said, the Angel of the Black Street, was a mash-up of genres like action, historical, fantasy, and sci-fi. It was set like the 19th century with nobles and blabla like that. There are trains and telephones here, there's also demi-humans and non-humans in this world. This place even had its version of guns powered by mana.
The Empire governing the Devon Continent is the Imperial Family of Loven, and under their crown are the six powerful Dukes.
The Duke of Briel govern the NorthWest of Devon and fought against the invaders, the Briel Duchy she was managing was also famous for having a lot of scholars (siding with the faction of the Imperial Academy[under the Empress authority]). The Duke of Hari was governing the south and his territory near the sea is famous for overseas business (siding with the 8 Seas Merchant Guild[no imperial affiliation]).
The Duke of Gregor, the grand knight famous for being the shield of the imperial family, managed the Imperial Knights Academy and was serving as the right hand of the Emperor. The Duke of Ferer governs the Magic Tower and the plot of land near it. The Duke of Millina governs the west and his territory is the center of the Empire's cultural development(Under the affiliations of 5 noble families[from the western domain]).
And lastly, the Duke of Versal, my uncle Alexander, governs the backend central territory and the Versal Duchy was neutral. It was also kind of a checkpoint since if you need to go to the other territories, the Versal family build the shortest roads everywhere, And based on the novel, the Versal Family also managed the so-called 'Underworld' (paradise of criminals).
Wait, no. The Versal Family was the head of the Underworld itself. (Revealed on the Sin Arc on the novel.) 'Cool.'
Since the Duchy was neutral, the other nobles trust that the Versal family will not reveal anything with their high bribes and special benefits. Damn, even the Imperial family was involved with a few illegal businesses operating in the Versal Duchy.
Because the Imperial family and other duchies can't touch the Versal territory, criminals from many regions seek refuge here, in return, the duchy will use them 'effectively'.
In other words, the Versal Duchy is full of f*ck up people and excitement!
*Knock* *Knock*
"Young miss?"
Hm?
My eyes wandered to the wall clock and figured that the one calling me is Rosalina.
"Enter." Sounding authoritative like this is so cool, I can only do this to the newbies in my past life. But here? Even the Imperial princes and princesses need to be polite with a Versal family member.
The door creaked open revealing Rosalina, who bowed after meeting my gaze.
"Young miss, the carriage is ready. You can depart now."
"Guide me there."
"Yes, young miss."
'Hoho, the Versal Family should get ready, this villainess is coming!'
