Chapter 56 - Festival Intermission p.2***

The team event was over and points tallied. I had 200136 points awarded to me. It seems they rounded out the decimal. There were still a lot of points and I had to wonder what they were used for. The cavalry battle was annoying beyond belief, I didn't mind teammates, but I felt like I should play a support role.

I rolled my head in some thought and looked over to Ibara who was sitting down. She had her hands clasped and looked like she was praying. Did people still pray in this day and age? She was regrowing her hair more likely.

I paused though as I realized I cut a little more than just her hair. To wear nothing underneath her clothes was crazy. Her hair would regrow though and cover up the scorched opening. I was about to lay backwards when Midnight walked up.

"Alright kids, I'm guessing you are wondering what the points were for. As you can see above you on the screen is everyone who will be in the final event. As for the points though, they will be used during the intermission break."

She pointed to the screen and it changed again, "Behold the intermission games vote. You can use your points to vote for what mini games you want to play. However as you can see some of the events are hidden. This is because they are a secret. You are all adults and sometimes we need a little bit of spice in our lives!"

She laughed as everyone seemed to take her words in a different direction. "The crowd will also vote on the mini game events too. So if you want a specific game voted for, why don't you try to convince them. However you can also take this time to relax, recover your strength and get something to eat or drink."

I nodded with the announcement. Putting my vote into the scavenger hunt wouldn't be that bad. I moved to vote, but someone grabbed me by my shoulder. "Tota, Tota! You should vote with us!"

I looked at Erin and raised my eyebrow. "What are you guys voting for?"

Mina gave a smile, "Well, I mean isn't it obvious? We are voting for one of the mystery activities!"

I paused and thought about it, "What if it is all girls cheerleading? UA would likely do something like that since many heroes have fan service. I mean Mt.Lady literally has a soda brand."

"Honestly that soda isn't bad, but that soda existed before she became a hero." Toru was right as well. I sighed, "Fine I will vote with you guys, I was going to vote for the scavenger hunt, but I suspect most will vote for that one."

Erin scoffed, "Not if we have anything to say for it. We already gathered 8 people to vote! And the more points you vote for the better! Though I w-"

Mina covered Erin's mouth, "Let's stop that before she starts rambling. She nearly talked our ears off earlier."

I looked up at the voting board again, "So which mystery event? There are three of them."

Mina shrugged, "We figured we would just roll with the first one."

I nodded and decided to use half my points on the voting. I will save the rest, if it is useful for something else I'll have some left over. I looked at the three girls and waved, "I voted. I'm going to get some food now."

They waved, "See you later."

What should I do now? "Ugh, asking that to myself is always a bother."

Someone replied to my spoken thoughts. "Asking what you should do now? A real classic."

I looked at Denki and nodded, "What's up?"

He looked around and shrugged, "I'll be honest with you… Tota. Hmmm, You seem like a guy who has lost the light of his life. Like a guy who needs to fill the void in his heart! Ahem! So while I am being honest, I'll admit talking to you now, it is to get your help in a little scheme of mine."

I sighed, "Alright, I don't have any other plans. Explain while I get food."

Denki smiled, "You got it, so basically through some networking. I was able to discover that one of the mystery events is actually a cheerleading contest. Boys can apply, but the girls are required. Before you say anything about it being sexist, there is an opposing event for the boys. So how about it? Wanna help?"

I nodded, "Pretty sure I already agreed, but I feel like I should ask. Who did you bring into this?"

Denki nodded, "I managed to get Ida to agree to help since it is a proper event and an opposing event exists. I just hope he doesn't dress in a cheerleading costume himself. Izuku, Mineta, and Hanta also know about the plan. Specifically, I need your help though as we need some more points."

I grabbed a sandwich and Denki jerked to the left., "Ah sick, they have chili dogs."

I waved to him, "As you were saying? Do you know which events are which?"

Denki looked around and got closer to whisper to me. "An upper classman with reliable credit in this field told me. He is the guy who set up the voting system. We need like a thousand or so points to make sure the event is selected."

I gave a nod, "So what are the three events, I already put some points into event one."

Denki nodded, "The first mystery event is a paintball fight. The second event is the boys event while the girls event is the third mystery event. Ultimately if you put points into the first mystery event we should be good."

I gave a nod, "I'll put the rest of my points into the third event."

Denki held up a thumbs up, "Thanks man."

I shrugged, "Like I said, I don't have much going on unless it is training. I'll be in the resting rooms, if you could tell me when the events start."

He nodded with a mouth full of chili dog, "Sure man! See you later."

I could hear the announcement in the stadium as I ate. It seemed the voting time was running out. So I pulled out my phone and used the student app. Sure enough UA gave me a portal to the voting. I placed the rest of my points into the other event and set my phone down.

I paused though as only a few minutes later I heard Present Mic's voice boom. It seems I have created an upset. I quickly shoved the rest of my food in my mouth and headed for the stadium.

It seemed the scavenger hunt won the crowd vote while the two events I voted for also won. Though listening to Present Mic it seems my near last minute votes for the one Denki told me to kicked the No-Quirk physical assessment from the running.

I was glad that event seemed boring as hell and I really had to wonder who voted for it. Oh, actually the none hero course students most likely did. I mean Hitoshi Shinso literally couldn't use his quirk on anything except people. It would also allow them to show off more physical skills.

I looked around and it seemed everyone was creating teams. My eyes widened as I saw Izuku waving me over. "Hey Shizen, you were eating something right?"

I nodded, "Yeah, What's up? Is this the paintball event?"

Tenya nodded, "It seems the events are going in a reverse order. The rules to this game are pretty simple and rather strategic. Basically we wear these little tags." Tenya held out 4 tags with a sticky velcro.

"They absorb the paint and once they are filled they stop. Once this happens they apparently burst and soak the user."

Tenya's explanation gave me a good idea of why they waved me over. "I assume one can evaporate the paint inside as long as it is a team member's tag?"

Izuku gave a sheepish smile, "It was my idea and Kacchan isn't very…"

Ochaco tacked on to his words, "And Todoroki openly declared you as a rival."

Which leaves me, even though I looked like the last choice I could see I was more the only choice. I looked at the other teams, "4 people per team. Looking at the student spread, about 9 teams will have the ability to recover 'Health' points."

Ochaco laughed, "Health points make a lot of sense."

Izuku began to mutter to himself, "9 teams? I only counted 5 who could recover. Who else would be able to recover teammates?"

Hearing his mutterings I had to give a nod of respect to his analysis. He was just lacking knowledge, "Who do you know could possibly recover?"

Izuku paused, "Well, It starts with you, Kacchan, and Todoroki. However Yaoyorozu could create a hair dryer or other tool to recover. Finally I have Nieto Monoma who could copy a quirk to recover his teammates."

I nodded, it seemed he was only thinking about evaporating the paint. "Kyoka can use sound waves to remove paint. Though whether she is skilled enough to do this I do not know. It would be interesting to see though."

Sen Kaibara can use his quirk to evaporate the paint through vibration, much like Kyoka. However I bet he will try so he can show off the utility of his quirk. He didn't win the Chavarly battle after all so showing off here is more important to him."

Izuku's eyes widened, "Ah, you are right. Who are the other two? I'll be honest I didn't have much time to analyze the quirks of all the students in our year."

With a nod I continued, "Manga Fukidashi, his quirk is an interesting one. I can't say for sure I understand all the details. However I noticed he was able to create a phenomenon with his quirk by using onomatopoeias. So if he uses the right words, he would be even better than others like myself."

"The final individual I would say that could recover teammates is Kinoko Komori. She is the most terrifying though as I don't understand her quirk. I just know it has something to do with mushrooms and the spread of mushrooms."

I gave a sigh, "She likely won't showcase this though as it seems she passed the Chavarly battle with Erin. Though I don't know how that team was formed, I suspect Erin bribed them or something."

Izuku nodded, "So our goal in this mini-event isn't us showcasing our quirk like those who aren't moving on. Instead it should showcase our skill while not using our quirks."

I nodded, "So if you guys want me on our team we should have an easy time doing this. Ochaco's quirk is useful here, but any technique she could use here might disable her in the final event. Which leaves her normal physical skills. The same with Tenya, speed is useful, but showing off his speed without quirks will be more important."

I finally pointed at Izuku, "You haven't used your quirk really at all. No one knows what you can do and what you might showcase, so using more of your brain solidifies you as a strategic fighter. Though if you run or hide here, you will only be a coward."

The trio paused and slowly began to nod. "Wow, that's insightful." Ochaco sighed, "Even during the minigames we need to try our best without our best."

I shrugged and looked around, "Seems they are putting out buckets of paint based weapons, I see a few balloons as well as paintball guns."

Tenya nodded, "The better ones seem to be placed in the middle. From the looks of the placeme-"

Before Tenya even finished his sentence Cementoss roared, "Stand aside students!" The arena shifted with new cement decor matching that of a park. Though I could see some random added items like a playground and several large cement structures holding the more effective weapons.

Izuku nodded, "Get ready to run to that bucket. This is going to be just as tense as the main events since everyone who didn't make it to the finals wants to show off."

I sighed internally he was right too.
