Chapter 17 - 016 - Movement In The Shadows

If one looked over the military camp of the Everlasting Sect, one would notice a group of new recruits walking towards the camp. A cloud of dust forms behind them.

The sound of heavy footsteps could be heard from afar, signalling their approach to the camp.

----------------------------------------------------

The sun slowly glided downwards on the horizon, basking the face of Lei Ao, who was now lying down on the tiled roof on one of the buildings in the camp.

'Status!'

A golden transparent screen appeared in front of Lei Ao.

'Haizzz~'

He felt a sense of satisfaction when looking at the golden screen, something about being able to quantify his progress motivated him.

Thinking of his status, Lei Ao sighed. He sat upright.

'I don't have time to be lying around like this.'

Lei Ao entered a meditative stance. An image of the four mythical beasts began to form around Lei Ao, attracting the surrounding qi. He began to cultivate. He was not going to be strong laying around doing nothing.

----------------------------------------------------

The earth had rotated and the sun began to rise. Rays of sunlight shone down on Lei Ao's back as he cultivated. The translucent image of the four mythical divine beasts shone around Lei Ao. The spectacle was grand yet quiet, with flicking images of the beasts roaring and slithering around.

The surrounding qi began to swirl towards him. Qi frantically flew towards Lei Ao, entering via his mouth and nose before nourishing his body.

A frown appeared on his face before he gritted his teeth. The Qi began to fill his organs, strengthening them in the process. The qi gathered in his organs before compressing to allow more qi to nourish them. This process was repeated multiple times before a quiet 'thud' was heard.

Lei Ao inhaled a breath of fresh air, signalling the end of his cultivation. He opened his deep sapphire coloured eyes, gazing into the distance. The image of the four mythical beasts began to fade around him.

'Status!'

[Name]: Lei Ao (Tyson)

[Cultivation Rank]: Body Nourishing Realm, Viscera Stage

[Strength]: 64

[Vitality]: 72

[Agility]: 58

[Intelligence]: 43

[Skills]:

['Seven Fists of the Tiger', 'Pain Resistance', 'Enhanced Perception']

[Cultivation Technique]:

['The Four Legendary Beast's Breathing Manual]

A bright smile filled Lei Ao lips. He had successfully broken through a minor stage within the Body Nourishing Realm. He knew if it was without his silver ranked cultivation technique, he would have a much harder time to cultivate to this point with this concentration of qi in the atmosphere.

'Crackk~'

Lei Ao stood cracking his back in the process as he stretched his body from the long hours of cultivation. He clenched his fist feeling the new sense of vitality and strength in his body. 'It's time I solve this problem...'

When Lei Ao entered the camp, he instantly noticed that something was up when he received a sign in reward as he stepped in. According to the system, he would only receive a reward if he chanced upon an area of high importance and danger.

This encampment was a place only meant to hold the weakest of weak of the Everlasting sect, hence Lei Ao instantly knew something was up. He had felt that an opportunity to solve this issue was going to appear today, so he waited patiently.

Lei Ao jumped towards the ground and began to walk in the clearing of the camp.

As he walked towards the canteen, he noticed a plethora of people entering the camp. They all possessed gloomy, but hopeful faces. They wore clean clothes, they each exuded this aura of weakness, highlighting their lack of strength. 'These must be the new recruits...'

Lei Ao's mind raced as he began to think, according to this body, he had entered the camp the same way these people did, he remembered that there were many of them as they entered the camp, nearing the thousands. But as the days passed less and fewer people appeared around the camp.

The previous Lei Ao believed it to be because they were being sent out for missions, but with newfound knowledge, Lei Ao felt that something was amiss. He stared at the group of newcomers from afar.

Lei Ao decided to keep an eye on them for the time being. He entered the canteen, got his food and began to eat. He sat deep inside the canteen, away from everyone's attention, slowly sipping his soup as he kept his eyes open for the new recruits.
