Woke up at 7 o' clock as his alarm went off. His heart ached as Rene didn't call him yet. He wasn't supposed to call her when she was with her family. It was what Rene wanted. She knew her dad would never accept their relationship given Ethan's background. So it was her who would call Ethan whenever she got away from her family.
But never once she took that long to call him once she arrived. So Ethan mustered up some courage and called her, but it went to the voice mail. Disappointed Ethan consoled himself telling Rene might be busy with her family and got ready for his usual mundane task.
It was 5 o' clock in the evening and there was still no sign of Rene's call. There was not even a text. Then he decided to call his friend Ashley who was very close to Rene. Ethan asked Ashley for a favor to call Rene and to make sure if she was doing OK.
Ashley called back telling that Rene didn't receive her call either, Ethan was now really worried about his girlfriend and decided to go to California to check on her.

Once Rene reached her home in LA California her mom welcomed her. "My baby must be hungry" Laura, her mom, said. Rene gave her a big teddy hug and replied "I'm starving mom" with a bright smile. "Go freshen up Nina has cooked your favorite food, I will get them to your room in a few minutes and baby your dad has something important to tell you, he might be back any minute now" with this said Rene nodded give her mom a peck on her cheek and headed straight toward her room.
She decided to call Ethan before taking a bath. As soon as she took out her phone from her pocket there was a knock at the door. "Sweetie I have brought food" her mom called from the other side of the door. She dropped her phone on the bed and opened the door to her mom. Her mom urged her to bath first before doing something else. "All right" said Rene entering her bathroom with a frown. She decided to call Ethan later tonight. Nina walked into Rene's room while she was having her meal and chatted with her mom, telling her dad was back and he was waiting for Rene in the study.
Dad she called as she was entering the study. "There is my beautiful daughter" dad said, hugging her and giving her a kiss on the top of her head. "How have you been, honey? You know I missed you a lot" dad said, breaking out from the hug. "I missed all of you too dad" Rene exclaimed.
"Mom said you had a thing to discuss with me?" Rene asked her dad "yes, pumpkin. You remember my friend, Ken?" she nodded. "Well, we. I mean Ken and I decided that we should get started with preparation for your wedding with Blake, his son. It will be held next year around this time."
