Underneath the Fifth District, an uncountable number of rats were transporting flesh back and forth. In the central area, countless pink rat pups were crawling on the ground, frantically gnawing on the food the rats brought back.
There were large and small rats. The large ones were the first batch to breed, while the smaller ones were more agile.
This nascent group was propagating at an unimaginable speed. The Rat King was not blindly invading the surface; each of its actions was carried out with a plan: only plundering the most hidden food, keeping as low a profile as possible before humans discovered them, and waiting for a better opportunity.
