Chapter 297 - Prominent Earthlings

As he walked by the alleyways, avoiding any form of contact with the populace. Remuel brought out what looks to be a radar of some sort. At first, he wasn't all that confident as every area in the city was pretty much hard to pass by. He could only hear very limited information from the populace as he had to continue moving around to avoid getting tracked. He knew very well the risks of being in enemy territory as he had sensed multiple [People of Earth] presences.

As he continued dancing through the crowds while avoiding attention, he finally heard some information about the temperament of the country.

"Seems like we're getting another foggy day. Be sure to keep your masks up since it can really get to you."

That information would've made Remuel relieved as he could use any of his fogs as cover at that point. He still held his doubts however, he needed to press on with his current advantages.

"Now, what to do?" He started pondering about his next course of action after arriving close to the castle. Having been undetected in his investigation so far, he bravely ventured closer into the walls as he prowled through any patrols.

At some point he finally made it to the walls themselves and Remuel had started to think about how to approach the investigation. After looking around, the a fog was starting to pass through the gates, a convenient timing that he had considered. Thus, he took advantage of it, sneaking past the guards without any issue.

He caught a glimpse of the guard's equipment. Modern but ancient, two contrasting features that make him start to feel concerned about how much they've fallen into the words of the [People of Earth], being the only country who had been hosting them so far.

"Whatever their armor is I will likely need a sample of it for Harold to look into them, but I can't stop here yet." Remuel continued on and distanced himself, creating a harmless fog within the fog so he could maneuver around more within the areas. He knew he couldn't even touch any of the guards as he could sense some sort of magic within their equipment. "Those runic swords seem like they can dispel anything, and from the material, they can block bullets. Each one of them look like artifacts, so they might have someone who can create artifacts like Draxus." Remuel kept on moving until he finally entered the castle from a side door, still undetected and untouched.

To his surprise the indoors of the castle were no good either, fog everywhere like it's a raincloud that refuses to form a single drop of rain. At that point, he simply maneuvered through the area like there's no issued whatsoever.

He explored many areas hiding through the ceilings and walls, and finding secret compartments that are somehow empty. Upon realizing how empty the secret areas of the castle are, he was starting to get anxious whether he was already detected and not. "These walls not having anything in them, not even assassins lying in wait in case of rude guests is too iffy. However, I can't turn back at this point." Remuel regained his composure and continued to explore the castle. He finally made it to some of the more personal rooms and was starting to listen to conversations.

"Hey Lawrence." "The leader?" Remuel thought, as he heard the name of the current leader of [People of Earth]. "When's the next plan going to happen?" Remuel stopped from his tracks completely, since the discussion was [People of Earth]'s next action.

"Hm? We'll be going for it in March, no fixed date for it really. The Council, Farlands, and the Depths will all join for this one. The goal is pretty simple, and we somehow managed to make it happen once already." "Stretch them too thinly right? Then we can finally target their leader?" "Nope, we can't deal with their leader. However, their key figure is Draxus Heimdal, if we manage to kill him, we're guaranteed to win at that point." "I figured, they now know about the Prime Existence starting to recollect all the corrupted souls into purity." Remuel knew the reason for their plan, as it pretty much leads all to Draxus who is starting to ascend as Prime once more. "While Serkyrio is currently unstoppable, I could tell he's not invincible as we're starting to catch up to him. Even with his ability to guide the path to the desired future, we're starting to break through the sides of his guided path. Draxus however is still actually holding only less than half of his full strength. His current form will further evolve the more souls that returns to him. Having four, including his own soul is already a rough match. And as Equivalence, I know the other four souls are way more dangerous that I wouldn't even dare fighting them alone in my current state." Remuel continued to listen as he compared the current levels of all four of them.

"Why him though?" "It's because our... Say, employer, wants his power. Once Draxus' power is usurped, he would have the complete body, even holding half of the current souls purest forms. At that point, he will become the new ruler of the universe. We get to reap those benefits as his employees as well, becoming higher beings and doing whatever we want really. Even just lodging around and gaming." Remuel started to sweat, he now knew that the enemy has complete information of Draxus' current state. Which would mean that they need to speed up awakening the other souls, which they do not know how to naturally wake them up.

"Then that would make Draxus himself even more threatening than Serkyrio. How do we even deal with him? You've fought his fiancés and lost right?" "Not exactly, it was a losing stalemate for them which turned into a draw when Keith stepped up against me." "Right... Sorry that we couldn't stop him there." "It's fine, we're only there to stall them anyways, capturing one of the fiancés is only a bonus. It's good leverage and they're all princesses. Surely ya'll would want a taste as well right?" When Lawrence brashly spoke about desires, Remuel who was still hidden underneath took a deep breath and exhaled to calm himself, and started to move away.

But a single sentence made him stop completely.

"How's project [Incarnate Static]?"

"Now what?" Remuel, now concerned with how the project was named.

"It's almost ready, in schedule for his debut in March. We even have time so he could test out his body in combat." "A body? Wait... Static... Then that means!"

Remuel was now faced with a choice.

Retreat and report.

Or...

Stay behind to find a way to stop the project, or even delay it.

Faced with a dilemma of facing utmost danger on both ends, one facing what seems to be the entire [People of Earth] organization alone along with an Empire that's backed by their three enemies, or facing them in the calamity where it could spell their doom.

.

.

.

Doom awaits in both ends...

"For Preeliance..."

.

.

.

"For the Asylum, the sanctuary that Serkyrio created..."

.

.

.

"And most importantly..."

.

.

.

"For the future of [Principle of Fate's] third experiment."

Remuel, whose crimson eyes revealed a vermillion glimmer left the area and looked for a way deeper into the castle.
