Seth got to where Ruby was and grabbed her by the arm into a tight embrace. "You were scared, weren't you?" Seth whispered in Ruby's ear. His eyes were closed but he couldn't feel Ruby's arms around him. She was not holding him too. Was this how he was going to lose her? Seth knew that she did not love him yet, she hadn't told him that ever and she had that person that she was already emotionally involved with before the invasion of her kingdom. The bastard. If Seth ever met that man, he could not say right now what he would do but the way Ruby felt stiff in his arms broke his heart the more.
"If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you be?" Ruby replied to Seth's question.
Seth took a long breath in -- he basked in the way Ruby smelled and it made him feel like he was soaring on clouds. This was the first time that he was holding her since they had returned to the Red Palace. She had expressly told him to keep his distance but Seth was not going to adhere to that any longer.
