"Did you notice how all of their servants are beasts with Qilin bloodlines in them?" Alex asked Bai Jingshen once they were done with the tour and were shown the rooms they would be resting in.
Bai Jingshen nodded. "It's also not just beasts with Qilin bloodlines. It's ones that look like a Qilin too. Deer-like body, snake-like tail; I wouldn't be surprised if they really were slaves."
"But why?" Pearl couldn't help but ask. "Are these the members of the old royal family?"
"Unlikely," Alex said. "It's more of a show of power, most likely. They want the world to know that they defeated the original Rulers of the Second Scar, and this is their proof."
Bai Jingshen nodded. "It is also possible that these beasts were dissidents when the monkeys took over," he said. "They might have done some sort of protest or went against the monkeys after the old rule was overthrown, so they were all captured and put to slaving away for the monkeys."
