The Mind God's eyes lifted away from Alex a moment later and the brief hint of a smile on his face vanished almost immediately, replaced by a look that Alex could only describe as disappointment.
"I'm afraid this matter has nothing to do with the World Tree," he said. "If I knew about it, I would've told you all long ago."
The Golden God leaned back on his seat, looking defeated. The other gods who had been growing excited earlier were also no longer feeling the same. The World Tree's seed was something that held hopes for many of the gods there, so the possibility of that being the news had gotten their hopes up, only to crush them back down.
Alex hid his surprise as well as he could, but some still slipped past nonetheless. He could not for the life of him understand why the Mind God would possibly be lying in this situation.
