As the group drew closer to the Vanagate Kingdom, they could see the desert gradually transform into a savanna, then into forests and grasslands. Rivers and lakes appeared, and the hot temperatures of the continent's center faded, replaced by colder, more humid air.
This was because the area was closest to Vanaheim, a continent mostly composed of rainforests. The atmospheres of each continent could mingle when they were near enough, much like in Jotunheim, where the climate grew hotter near the beaches, with grasslands and forests, unlike the mostly snow-covered landscape they had seen before.
In the distance stood a gigantic wall and an enormous gate, and right behind it, a city with a massive castle built atop a colossal bridge leading to Vanaheim.
