Chapter 7 - A Familiar Face

Today was a Tuesday like none other before. The sun was out but was currently shielded by a blanket of grey clouds in the sky. This was strange because the normally warm wind was replaced by a cold breeze; although, the forecast predicted that a heavy snowstorm would pass over the south-eastern islands which weren't very common seeing how the weather stayed perfect nearly year-round! Kame House was still located on the more southern island where Master Roshi trained his students.

Behind the pink wood house with a red brick roof sat a young man with beautiful brown skin, long black dreads tied in a ponytail, while wearing the standard 'Turtle Hermit School GI' which consisted of an orange tank top with similar baggy pants, blue wristbands, blue toe shoes paired with white socks, and a blue belt tied around the waist area. This person was Zero, he seemed to be meditating whilst visualizing something within his mind.

Three men stood in front of him within his mindscape. One of the men was muscular with a large widow's peak which led to spikey hair that stretched down to midway of his calf. The next one seemed to be the most bulky and tallest in the group, he looked and gave off an aura of destruction almost as if he lives solely for demolition! Lastly, the third man of the trio was shorter than the rest and for some reason felt like he the strongest with the most balanced build between them all.

These three figures towered over the young man like a tall mountain to a tiny hill, smiling viciously. Each of them held out their hands, palms pointed towards Zero, and started to glow brightly. He stood in a battle-ready position then began to charge them; yet, after hardly taking one step Zero was bombarded by three massive beams of energy causing him to open his eyes quickly.

His mental battle was against three aliens known as Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta! "Shit man there are two years left and the closer I get towards the inevitable arrival of the Saiyans the more anxious I get. I need to calm my nerves before I go crazy!" At this point, Zero has learned how to utilize the 'Lightning Flash Suprise Attack' but sadly not as well as the Turtle Hermit himself!

It shocked him at how hard it was to master this technique! Right now, he can build up and fire it within ten seconds but it continued to cause a huge strain on his Ki and stamina. Upon charging this attack after following the usual motions, Zero notices how hard it was to actually hold up the attack and couldn't imagine how it would feel capturing a target within it. "I'll Master this soon!" He spoke to himself while standing in an open area, if there were anyone passing by they'd think he was crazy!

Zero was busy thinking of other ways to further improve his progress and thought of a few. Almost three minutes passed until a very familiar voice came from around the corner of the house. "Hehe you looked pretty troubled, wanna talk about what's on your mind?" This man's voice was light yet raspy at the same time, it resembled in pitch how most people would visualize a high-school nerd. "There's no way-"

Zero's fanboy side began to show as his heart picked up a rapid pace, he turned to face where the voice was located. Out from around the corner came a short and bald man sporting a similar Gi as his own. "You must be the new pupil am I right?" The short person laughed and continued walking forward. "Hiya, the name's Krillin! It's nice to meet you, Zero"

The main two pupils of Master Roshi lived their own lives which is why they were hardly around; although, they do try to visit more often. Goku had a family to care for but spent most of his time eating, training, and taking his newborn out for joy rides on his Nimbus cloud. Due to that fact he hasn't had time at all to visit anyone. Krillin also spent most of his time training but tried to stay more in touch with his friends. Recently had been out training a new special attack for the last six months, which is why he hasn't had the time to visit.

"I um, it's nice to mEeT you-" Zero's voice cracked so hard in that sentence, he felt so embarrassed but tried to play it cool. He is meeting another living legend in his opinion so it was hard to keep the excitement down after all. "Now, I heard you mention something about Saiyans? What are they?" Krillin was curious because he could see how much Zero was worried about this potential threat.

The fact that Krillin overheard him talking about the Saiyans put him in a tough situation. [Fuck man, should I tell him? If I do then maybe it'll get everyone prepared and have them train faster. But what if they don't believe me? There's always a chance that they won't, why would they? Master Roshi has known me for six months and Krillin and I technically just officially met today. That isn't nearly enough time for valid credit.]

The amount of time it took for him to decide if he should tell him surprised Krillin. "Fine, I'll tell you everything that I know." His expression became serious which startled Krillin a little but also let him know how serious this was. "The Saiyans are an alien race of warriors, they go around to other inhabited planets and destroy all life on them to conquer them. Once that happens I have no idea what comes next for the ruined planets. From what I know Earth isn't worth conquering. But in two years, one of these aliens will arrive here."

He lied, of course Zero knew what would happen to those planets but he didn't feel the need to tell him that information. Krillin looked at him like he was crazy, it was exactly as Zero expected he didn't believe him! "So even if this little spooky story of space boogie men were true, why would they bother coming here? Especially if like you said, Earth isn't worth conquering. By the way where did you even get this information from?"

"Well...this might come as even more of a surprise but-" He was having a hard time but decided to just push it out with a tiny white lie. "I gathered this information from a fortune teller in Satan City. In their crystal ball, it showed an image of a man, when I studied it longer I discovered that this alien is coming here for Goku." After saying that Krillin burst into laughter. "So you're telling me some space creatures are coming here for Goku?! That's funny Zero, you know how to tell a joke!" He continued to laugh while bashing on Zero's story. "Whoo! I get it, you knew I was here so you planned this trick? I'll give you this, it was a well-thought-up story."

Krillin wiped the tears from his eyes now that his laughing frenzy was over. This was honestly expected so he didn't pay the teasing much mind and shrugged it off. "Well if you don't believe me then that's fine, you'll see in two years" He turned around and began to meditate to hone his Ki control. Over the past six months, he had become much more fluent at doing this, each day that passed his control grew in a large amount.

Krillin looked at Zero and decided it was time to give him a little test. "Alright, time for the real reason I came here. Master Roshi told me how well you've been doing in your training so I decided to stop by to offer you a spar so I can judge just how strong you are, plus it'll be good training for me as well. You up for the challenge Zero?" His ear twitched having just heard that Krillin would like to spar him. After turning to face him, Zero smiled and nodded then the two men walked to a location that was far from the house.

"I won't go easy on you, so I don't expect you to go easy on me understand?" Zero shook his head to show he agreed. "I wouldn't have it any other way!" They both took their stances seven meters from each other ready for battle. The ice-cold wind started to blow and both of them charged at each other. As the battle began snow started to fall from the clouds above, the timing was so perfect that it seemed like their first clash caused the weather to shift!
