I wore a white turtleneck sweater and black crazy jeans and rushed out of the house as I slung my backpack at my back. I met Jace walking to school without a car which was unusual.
'Hey!' I screamed at him and he looked at me. He walked over to me and he knew I was just gonna ask.
'My dad seized my car because I came back after curfew yesterday.' He explained.
'My mum was on my neck yesterday based on the same matter.' I said and he smiled.
'What's your time?'
'7:15. But why are you asking me for time you have a smart watch?'
'No fool. I meant the time you are supposed to be back home before curfew.'
'Why did you call me a fool? 9:39.' I said in a low tune. He smiled at me and held my hand and we started walking. I felt like I was cloud 9.
'Why so specific?'
'Because my sister got raped around 9:40.' i said slowly. He pulled me in for a hug and apologised. Then he realised and we started walking to school.

'Jace my man. How are you doing?' Brian, Jace best friend greeted as we walked into the school gate.
'I'm good. What about you?' Jace asked pulling him in for a hug and letting go of my hand. Then Stephanie ran towards me.
'Helen is pregnant!' She screamed with excitement. 'Helen is her elder sister aged 26. She is newly married and she really needed a child to save her marriage.
'That's great news!'
'Congrats, 'Helen!' Brian and Jace chorused. Brian looked over at Jace back and I followed his eyes and I knew he noticed Jace car wasn't there.
'Dude, where's your car?' He asked. 'Jace stared at me for a while before looking back at Brian.
'My dad took it and I will not be getting it back before the school dance!'
'Why is that? You never disobey your dad, so what or who is the reason?' Brian asked not before glancing at me. i felt chills run down my spine as if he knew, it was because me and Jace hanged out late that was why his car was seized.
'I will tell you later I promise!' Jace replied. The school bell rang we all walked to class. I mistakenly hit Rachael with my book as I took them from my locker.
'O my gosh! I am sorry Rachael.'
'You insolent bastard! Can't you watch it? Didn't your father impact a bit of sense into you before he died?' She fired back. I felt myself go down the drain as the death of my dad flashed in my head.
'I said sorry! So you have no right to insult me!' I screamed back , standing my ground. Now everyone's attention were on us. Stephanie, Brian and Jace came out of the crowd to look at me.
'Who the heck do you think you are? I can buy you with the snap of my fingers.' She said snapping her finger in the air.
'Come on! Go on! Snap your fingers and buy me Miss Rachael Serena.' I mocked crossing my arms.
'Look at this poor bastard!' She cursed pointing her finger at me and looking back at everyone before turning to face me again.
'Been jealous...'
'That's enough!' Jace commanded and me and Rachael stared at me. 'Everyone get back to class! Rachael and Melissa-Jane that's enough!' He commanded once again and everyone started returning to class. 'Jace as the nephew of the principal had the right to command anyone in the school. Jace approached me and pulled me closer to him.
'Don't worsen the matter, 'MJ and let it slide off your back!' He whispered into my ear before letting go of me. I had this feeling that he likes me and i do too since childhood. Rachael threw a hateful glance at me and walked out while I did the same with Jace next to me.

It was time for lunch and I sat on a table with Stephanie, Lana and James. 'Jace approached me and ruffled my hair before walking to sit with Brian,Stacey and Jonathan. As he sat down, Stacey kissed him on the lips and my eyes widened.
'What the hell was that?' I asked pointing at Jace direction.
'Dont you know that Jace and Stacey are dating?' Lana answered indirectly. It was as if a sharp sword had pierced through my heart and I felt like the ground should open and swallow me whole. Here I was feeling he likes me, instead he was dating Stacey the blonde pretty girl. I don't blame him, who could love someone like me.
'Are you okay?' Stephanie asked touching my hand and bringing me back to reality. I nodded my head and ate in total silence. It hurts to find out your crush is dating someone else.
