Chapter 3 - First take 2

The two that robbed me earlier were back. I turned towards them, people surrounding them like they are some leaders of this group. Which, quite frankly, sounded really dumb to me. I chuckled a bit and opened my ears up to them.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE PRISONERS!" The short-haired one said before the bald one continued:

"WE ARE THE GUSTAVO BROTHERS!"

"I know you all are QUITE interested in where you are, and why."

"And that's perfectly normal!"

"We plan to help those who are worried about their place here… Like therapists!"

"Yes, like therapists, we will want to help you all to relax, and the first order of business is to split up all coins to everyone here, through us, of course. To make sure everyone gets an equal number."

I couldn't help but smile at them. This plan was dumb. Through them? They just stole from me and bought one item each for their meal, for 5 coins each. Like some bumbling idiots. However, I could not retaliate. It was 1 against 2, and by all means, they can do WHAT they want. I can find ways to avoid paying up.

"This is just so, everyone can get equal amounts of coins, of course, and everyone can eat the same things."

People had started to perk up. Maybe their idea wasn't… Completely dumb. Some had begun to give their coins to the two, who happily took them, setting down the chairs they used to attract attention to them. I had already given them money, so I didn't need to take part in this… "Oh, and, if you see anyone with a number that ends in 9, they started with coins, unlike some of us.

I can confirm the skinny dude in the back doesn't have any coins… But he is a smartass, so he probably kept one or two, that's a bit unfair, right? He also bought food, does anyone else have food yet? No. So, the motherfucker must have gotten quite a bit to get that and not care, yeah?"

Ah, shit… this guy is using their confusion and lack of comfort to target me… Why me, though? That's too rude. And, I can't diffuse this situation very well. Not through violence, at least. I looked up, putting on a weary face. "What..? You gave me this food… You gave me two coins as well.. You pat my back and said that it was just something nice to do.. Why are you doing this? I'm starved, I haven't eaten in weeks, they kidnapped me last month!" I put on a wearily angry face, letting my arms lay loosely down, like I had not the energy to move.

The one who targeted me began to sweat, as a few people went over and gave me some coins. His sibling, though, stomped over to them, slapping them in the face. "HEY! Don't listen to this SCHMUCK, he's fuckin' LYING! We were all kidnapped on the same day! AKA, before we had woken up!"

However, someone shouted. "FALSE!" another skinny guy stood up and hopped onto the table "I've been here for a few days. And that lady was, too." Ah, I remember him, he was the guy I caught talking to the woman. "I heard her a few days back, and we've spoken at least once since then." another man rose "Y-yeah, that's right! I heard the two yelling once!" another, and another, and another. Now, I don't find many things funny, but MAN, I had to force my face to remain tired. People had gotten their two cents in, and the two men had gotten nervous.

But, that was a bad spot. If those two hadn't come in, then.. I'd be put in quite a bad spot. Fucking hell. However, the enjoyment wasn't long enough to enjoy as my face was suddenly slammed down onto the table. The large men began shouting, but I couldn't discern everything… Something, something wasn't right… The men stopped, I felt blood running down my face, and I didn't feel right, my head hurt, too. Why did it hurt? My eye, too, that's not good. That… More yelling, huh? That's… why does it hurt so much? I can't move. I closed my eyes and soon woke up. People were above me, the man earlier with blonde hair and the woman with black hair.

Something was off, though. My left eye closed quickly, as lights shone into them, which was too jarring considering that my face was directly under them. The man had quickly spoken up "Hey! Thank fucking god, you're awake! Hey, hey" I tried to move my head, but it was held still. "Don't move your head, please. Your... " He took a deep breath, and the woman sighed "Your right eye, was impaled by a straw."

My left eye shot open and I noticed it. I had no more depth perception. I let out a scream, my arms began flailing, I couldn't help it, soon, more people came and held me down, and the blonde man put his hand over my mouth. "SHH, SHH, please, please be quiet, please, man. You're not… You're alright, we got some rags, the- the people up there brought down some medical equipment. I'm a nurse, please, please try to calm down." I did, I slowly calmed down, jesus fucking christ, though. WHat the fuck, what the FUCK? I swallowed, my left eye as open as it could be. I could feel a ghastly feeling in my right eye as I blinked. It was horrifying. The blonde nurse quickly stuttered as he realised I was blinking "y-yeah, man, I-I know, it-it's gross, b-but it could be worse! You could have had it reach into your brain, but luckily, the straw was too short. You… Won't be able to look through it, ever… again, but, at least you didn't die, huh?" He nervously chuckled.

I frowned. Why wouldn't I? This situation was horrible. I have no right eye anymore. No depth perception either, and the worst thing was, I wasn't sure if my bleeding would stop. Or, if it had already, when it would be an issue. Let alone what I would have to do to stop it from bleeding again, or getting infected. Before I knew it, I was hyperventilating, and the woman held my face softly, and I quickly tried to calm down

"Blondie… Will I make it to the first game?"

"Uh, well, no, you got a pass for this one, and you get 10 coins for compensation. The two men are getting punished for causing a commotion. It's… They said it was the least they could do for you. Uhm, we might as well get to know each other, ha ha… My name's Nicholas Trainfield! I'm a nurse for East Grimfield hospital!"

I breathed out a shuddered breath. "I'm.. Jack.. Jack Carson" Nicholas chuckled a bit, "I'm James.. James Bond" Fucking hell, I didn't mean to quote a bond film. However, he got me to smile. "Great, now I can tell you the worst of the news, we don't have anyway to get you more blood, UNLESS, you are confident in the syringe that held the blood clot we gave you being able to hold the blood of another person, of hopefully the same blood type as you."

I gritted my teeth. "... Is it required?"

He shook his head "nono no! Well, it shouldn't, as long as you're producing enough blood, but you certainly won't be feeling good"

Thank god. That would have been really bad. Well, what was I thinking anyway? Of course I wouldn't need it, I just need to let my heart do it's thing for a while. Nick had looked up when someone had begun to speak. I couldn't hear it well, but Nick told me what they had said, the black haired woman had walked off then. "Okay, it's time I have to go. Try to remain still, if you feel any more blood flowing, then hold the rag to your eye, I promise that will prevent you from dying. You'll be feeling woozy for a bit, but it'll go away soon, so I wouldn't worry about it! Uhm, alright, get some rest, your body needs it. I'll be back soon!"

Nick had walked off… But did he have to tell me more about the bleeding eye thing? I don't want to think I'll die here. That'd be really fucking horrible. And that's what he left me to think about. I didn't want to move, since doing so made me feel worse. And what's worse than losing an eye? Getting puke on where your damaged eye is. Gross.

I was left for a while, the nice jingle playing slowly in the background. I hummed to it and tapped my fingers a bit. They had some alright taste for some space folk. Suddenly, my vision became black, I couldn't breathe, and I felt a heavy pressure on my damaged eye… A son of a bitch was going to try and suffocate me. And there wasn't a thing I could do about it, since they came from behind my head. I reached my hands out, and grabbed onto their shirt, but they grabbed it and broke it on the table with a loud grunt. I let out a scream, but it didn't last long, as the oxygen in my lungs was all spent.

I tried to gasp for air, but my body began to feel weak, and soon I couldn't move anything at all. Moments after, everything was black…

Then, I could move again. It was like a weird limbo. I was still laying down, though. I sat up, realizing I had been breathing fine as easily as I always could. I took in a deep breath to feel safe, as my heartbeat started to get slower again. What the fuck was that? Where am I?

A light chime rang through the empty void I was in. I looked all around me, and I eventually saw it.
