Chapter 15 - Am I still dreaming?

There was a warmth that surrounded me. I opened my eyes only to find I'm somewhere new. I am no longer in the chambers but somewhere else. Somewhere equally beautiful. Everything here is so out of the ordinary. I must still be dreaming. There is a bunch of imaginary things all around me. There are unicorns all around me. The moon was barely rising. I was near a lake. The water itself glistened and the trees gleamed of colors and life. There are butterflies everywhere. I just sat there taking in all this beauty. The unicorns were playing so sweetly with one another by the water. The field was filled with flowers, fireflies, butterflies, unicorns, and just a bunch of colorful untouched beauty. An eerie feeling washed over me from behind. I turned and noticed a dark-like shadow under the trees in the farthest corner. To my dismay, I saw that in this shadow was a figure. Next thing I knew everything was in chaos. The unicorns were running left and right, butterflies have flown away. Then the unicorns were headed in my direction. The one leading them stopped right in front of me. It stooped down low enough for me to get on. I did not hesitate in trying to get on. The fear of what yet be to come had given me strength. All I wanted at this moment was to be free of this dark shadow. Try as I may, my feet seemed to be stuck. As the unicorn looked me in my eyes. I could hear a voice in my head. I turned to it and asked if it was his voice I was hearing. He shook his head and we locked eyes again. Please grab on now before it's too late. As I did my body began to shine and my feet broke free from the ground. At the moment I felt released. I grabbed onto its mane and pulled myself on top of him. We rode off as swiftly as possible. As the wind raced against us. I realized I was bleeding yet again. Great more pain for me. My other wounds were not yet healed and my leg that's bleeding. It is the same one as before. I just don't know how or why it is bleeding right now. How do I keep getting injured so badly? I don't even notice when it happens. I shook my head and leaned into the unicorn. I was watching the scenery as we passed by. I have got to be dreaming. There is no way this can be real. These kinds of things don't actually happen in the real world. Though I must admit this dream is severely wild and completely off balance. It is almost like my dreams are mixed into my nightmares. As if my brain cannot decide if I should have a peaceful sleep or a restless one. A tug of war between the two. Finally, we came to a stop. The unicorn leaned down enough for me to get off of him safely. As I dismounted, I ended up landing on my butt. Then I noted it was covered in blood. I jumped up to check on him but instantly fell back down on my butt. He looked me in the eyes and I could hear him speaking to me again. I am not the injured one. Your wound needs mending. You are the one who needs to be checked, my lady. I looked down at myself and saw I was bleeding in multiple spots. Which brought up a bunch of questions and feelings. Where am I? Why am I here? How did I get here? Where are the people I was just with? There was very little pain on most of my body. Some parts had no pain at all. As I tended to my injuries the unicorn placed his horn on me. I sat and watched as all my injuries slowly healed on their own. I could not believe what I was seeing. My injuries just completely healed on their own. Well, when he put his horn on me. My body started to glow ever so brightly. My body was glistening with gold shimmers. The light flickered off my skin like rays of sunlight. It was so beautiful and enchanting. As I was fixated on my glowing body, the unicorn was busy licking my wounds. Then a single tear landed on my lips. I was not sure where it came from. I licked my lips and felt a sudden burst of warmth. Moments later I felt good as new. We walked together towards the river. I carefully cleaned him off using the river water. Once he was fully cleaned up we took a look around. We found an empty cave nearby and decided to stay in it for the night. We gathered some wood and I created a fire to help keep the warmth. Then I hunted some fish for myself. I cooked it over the fire after cleaning them. It tasted horrible but I felt as if I was starving. After we both finished eating and got settled next to the fire. My mind was racing with questions. The unicorn looked at me and for the first time, I heard his voice. Not in my head but through my ears. Shocked, to say the least. I said I thought you could only speak through eye contact and within my head. He looked at me and said it was only a matter of time before we became one and you could hear me like this. I nodded but I did not truly understand what he was talking about. Then I looked at him and asked him again. How exactly did I get here? Then he said "My name is Xerion. The man that brought you here. He placed you in the place you had awoken. He asked if I could watch and protect you until he returned to you. He also told me that he had a few things to take care of before he can return. I nodded to let him know I accepted his task. That was when I could truly smell you. The smell of your blood is oddly familiar." I looked at him full of questions. He then continued speaking. There is a dark mysterious thing following that would need to be taken care of long before he can rejoin us. That darkness was slowly making its way to you. Or so I thought. Until it killed one of my own. It took its horn and drank from it. That is how it turned into a complete nothingness shadow. He knew not the powers we have. Unicorns are pure. We keep the balance. They receive many blessings. It can be the very difference between life and death. Just by drinking from our horn with or without permission. You receive many gifts good and bad. A thought popped into my head and my mouth started spewing words out like a hurricane. Why did you allow a teardrop to fall upon my lips? Are you trying to curse me? Was that some kind of test? Will I be cursed? I have enough to worry about! I must find my parents and figure out where I am. I don't even know if I am dreaming. If I'm dreaming, I must find a way to wake. Then Xerion said that I needed to calm down. Which naturally made me more upset. Though I did try to hold my tongue and listen to what he needed to say. I slouched back a little and my body began to relax. Then he continued. You have nothing to fear. I allowed it to fall upon your lips. I knew you would lick it up, as it was my intention. You see my lady, not all things are as they seem. For you come from a long line of enchanted ones. Your family is very unique and very powerful. You are very loved by so many. Just as the ones before you. The tear was merely a test. I needed to know if your intentions were pure. To ensure you are who they say you are. If you were not the one they said you were, my tear would not have worked on you. The healing would not have been fully successful. I nodded and sat there for a moment. I was trying to gather my thoughts. If this was a dream, it is a really long one. This brings us back to my original and most important questions. How am I here? Why am I here? Xerion just looked at me and then said to me. To be more specific my name is Xerion the third. I am a humble servant of the kings and queens of this land. As I and my family before me have been. We proudly serve royalty, as we proudly stand beside them as equals. It has been done this way for centuries. For without one there cannot be no other. The man you call escort is your protector. He is also your main prospect once you come of age. There are many that will want to try and gain your hand in marriage. He himself will gladly give his life in exchange for yours. It is not only his job to secure your life. It is also the love he feels for you as well. I can see how much he loves you, just by watching him with you. As I see it with you. I can see how pained you are not having him around you. Let us hope it never comes down to him choosing your life over his. Perhaps it is safe to say your heart chooses him, as his chooses yours. Only time will tell. For with time changes so can a person's heart. So please take heed of my words. Do not rush anything or force it. Please give yourself time to learn and grow. Time is an amazing thing. It can teach, show, guide a person to where they belong. Then my stomach growled and I gave a timid smile. Xerion walked over to a tree and told me to carve myself a bow and several arrows. As I was carving I realized I had no string. So once I finished carving everything. I scoured the area in search of something, anything that would make a good string. Giving up my search. I walked over to Xerion to see if he had any ideas. He just bowed his head and his horn touched my bow. It started to glow like the color of my skin. Then he leaned in and did the same to my arrows. Then he said that these things are now enchanted and will never have another master. They will not work for anyone but you unless you will it to be. Should you lose it and call out the name you've given it, it will find its way to you. A name you must give it and it must come from within. It will always replenish itself after every use. So you shall never run out. The only way it can be destroyed is if someone destroys you. The only way to be rid of them is if you bestow them unto someone else. They must be of pure intentions or they will return to you. In the occasion you die before bestowing them to another. They will follow you into the earth and into the afterlife. Which means they will revert to before you carved them and will wait for the net heir to carve for theirselves. If for some reason the you give it to another and it does not suit them. These items will return to the earth unless you call it forth. Though I must warn you. If the person is not apart of the gifted or true of heart. It will fade away until a truly deserving person seeks it out. Just as you have today. I have seen it many times before. Where someone tries to use or or carve it into something else. Especially when it was not gifted to them. The enchanted object will refuse them and crumbles to dust. Only to return to its rightful owner. If the rightful owner is dead, then it returns to the earth. Just then a deer appeared. It was not a young buck but, a fully grown one. So I raised my bow, arrow in hand. I aimed towards the front midsection, near where I imagine is its heart. I had several arrows all together to ensure a quick painless death. I took in a deep breath and pulled them back. Then just before I let go, there was a faint sound of crushing branches and leaves. The deer must have heard it as well because, it took off running in the opposite direction. I turned in the direction of the sound, bow at the ready. If something was going to come out at me I was going to be ready. Pure silence followed. So I tried to concentrate. To see if I could find exactly where the sound came from. I heard another sound and another. It was a off beat rhythym. So I kept my weapon drawn and slowly made my way towards the noise. After a few minutes of following the sound. I saw my ecort and he was fighting with the shade. It must have followed us here. Next thing I knew my eyes had closed and my hand let go. The arrow shot straight towards the shade. I opened my eyes and saw that my arrow had pierced the shade. My arrow was pulled and dropped on the floor next to my escort. They began to fade and the shade itself was retreating. My arrows reappeared in my hand as if I never shot them. I am so confused and amaed at the same time. I saw my arrow pierce the shade but then it came back and I haven't even named them yet. Then I hear Xerion. Very good my lady. You have shown great courage, decisiveness, leadership, faith and trust. Though you have not yet named your weapons. They have decided to give you their allegiance. As you can see for yourself. It returned itself to you instead of the earth. Though I must say. You have proveen yourself very loyal. For without question or hesitation, you defended your escort in a losing battle. He was at the mercy of the beast and you saved him instead of him saving you for a change. You will make a great leader one day. You did not know who was in danger and you did not care. You could have killed the deer and continued to your meal. Instead you chose to follow the sound and save whoever you found. Reguardless of the dangers it posed on you. You gave up a much needed meal to protect another. Your parent and kingdom would be so proud of you. I smiled and walked over to my escort. He met me halfway. He looked pretty defeated but picked me up anyway. I just hugged him ever so tightly. I was glad he finally made his way back to me.
