Jeffrey Foster's departure didn't seem to affect Isabelle Martin much. She buried herself in the hospital every day—either working or reading—giving herself no time to breathe.
It wasn't until the weekend that she remembered Zed Julius's tickets. There were two more messages from Zed on her phone reminding her about the play, and only then did Isabelle recall her promise to Zed.
But recalling is one thing; she didn't feel like going. She stared at her phone for a while before replying with a simple "okay."
Isabelle wasn't interested in plays or operas; she had accepted Zed's invitation as an excuse to go out with Jeffrey Foster. Now she had agreed and it wouldn't be right to break her promise.
With that thought, Isabelle quickly tidied herself up, mentioned to a colleague that she was stepping out, and left the hospital, only to unexpectedly run into Joyce Ashley, who was escorting a patient at the hospital entrance.
