*** Date Night
Right on the dot, Jacob was parked in his expensive car, close by the front entrance. I knew he wouldn't have late for our date, especially since it's been a while since he's seen me, and it already take so much to sneak out.
Smiling, I walked down the steps onto the sidewalk over to the passenger side of his expensive car, but before I could pull the handle, he was already out and around the car, gently pushing my hand away. "Uh uh darling, you should let your man open the door for you." He shook his head, and I smiled in response, stepping back.
"Fine," I replied and he opened the door, and just as I lowered myself into the car, he leaned forward pressing his soft lips against my cheek, almost causing me to miss my step.
"You look beautiful, Kenzie." He announced, protecting my head from the roof of the car, followed by shutting the door quickly.
Glancing down at my outfit, I was in a long-sleeve shoulder lace blouse, with had floral design on the see-through sleeves. The sleeves were called bishop sleeves, it poofed out around the forearm area, before buttoning around the wrist. The top had a dresslike collar, very classy.
Tucking it into a pair of high waist skinny jeans, that had some small rips in them, the recent fashion trend. Paired with the outfit, was a tan coat, that I had dropped on my arms since it wasn't chilly just yet, and lastly, a pair of black ankle boots.
My hair was in a half-up and half-down updo, slightly wavy, as Rhonda went slightly overboard with it, seeing my outfit. The hairpin glittered brightly in the evening, those were her words, as I stepped outside for fresh air, I guess to hype me up. My other accessories were the wolf necklace that Jacob gave me and a silver detailed band on my right-hand ring finger.
Tucking a piece of hair behind my ear, watching Jacob casually back out of the driveway, taking us to where he intended. He reached over to grab ahold of my hand, as he was lost in his thought, driving down the interstate, taking us out of Birmingham, taking the exit to London.
"I figured that we shouldn't eat in Birmingham, since your father pretty much owns the area, so I thought we could eat at an expensive restaurant east of London. The reviews were great, and the pictures were pretty as well, the venue was bright and whimsical." He described the place, and I grinned.
"Bright and whimsical?" I repeated, and he nodded, turning onto a different road that led to the main street, where many rooftop restaurants were. "Pretty," I spoke in amazement, gluing myself to the window, as I was amazed by all the pretty lights in the evening, each restaurant was different in its way, some were bright and whimsical, others were luxurious, and some had that antique vibe to it.
When he pulled up to the valet parking area, a young man reach for my door, offering me a hand, and I took it, easing myself out of the car, taking everyone's breath away when I stepped out. Some of the people waiting outside were in awe of my outfit, and maybe some people recognized who I was, but I had put on a mask before stepping out of the car, unsure how well Jacob is tailed, but I didn't want to risk it.
Taking his arm, I matched my pace with his, entering into the fancy restaurant, immediately up to the rooftop, since he had a reservation.
Ginning when the gentle breeze met my face, I took off my face covering evening the fresh air. We were seated in a pavilion on the corner, which had some screens, preventing someone to get pictures, and if someone did, it was only going to be, side profiles.
"Good evening Miss, would you like to order appetizers, and what can I get for you to drink?" The waiter, walked up to our table, completely ignoring Jacob, staring at me with his hazel eyes. Taking the menu from his hand, I handed it over to Jacob, who looked puzzled about why he was being handed the menu before he smirked.
"I think we'll pass on appetizers, the lady would like to drink half-and-half tea, I'm sure that is something you can do, and I'll be having a glass of water." He ordered with a smug face, and the waiter looked between the two of us, before dropping his shoulders in slight defeat that he was unable to hear my voice.
"I've noticed quickly, that you get jealous, quite easily." I reached over the table and gently set my hand over his, glancing over my shoulder to the beautiful view, everything was bright and one the main street is was busy, as there was a bar across the street, and based on the logo, it seemed it was supported by Jacob's company. "You said you wanted to catch up on current events, who wants to go first?" I asked, and he chuckled before interlocking our fingers.
"Well, you've been the busy one." He shrugged and I let out a sigh, nodding my head.
"Since I've returned to my house, I've decided to step back from the CEO position." I started and he widen his eyes, taken aback.
"Huh, why?" He asked, and I took in a deep breath.
"Acting like a bulldozer won't get me anywhere, and my father won't even give me a chance to the business, either way, my only hope for the position is by the chairmen council." I stopped when the waiter came to drop off our drinks and finish the rest of the order, both of us ordered medium rare steaks with a side of salad, or at least I did, he just wanted the steak.
"Then are you working behind the scenes of your brother?" He asked and I nodded.
"Although Eli isn't very interested in the business, he's the only one that can get my father's trust and take the position or at least the vice president's seat. Currently, other matters should be prioritized, like the underworld." He frowned at the word and I took in a deep breath. "Besides that, I have to rant." I changed the topic and he leaned forward, glancing down at our interlocked fingers.
"Oh?" He encouraged and I let out a sigh.
"Upon arriving home, I created a presentation and had the idea of bringing out another product line, and you know what my ungrateful father did, he took my plans, after rejecting them. Ugh, there are days." I ranted and Jacob only raised a brow before letting a chuckle.
"Did the idea of a new product line come from my inspiration of mine?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.
"No, actually I've been thinking about bringing out a new product line for about two years now, so bad that my details about the product line were spectacular. However, when I sent my brother to the recent Chairmen Conference, I was told that when my father brought up the plan they didn't believe it was solely his, so at least I have some favor, whether they know it or not." I shrugged with a small smile on my face, kinda feeling smug.
We finished our meal, talking about how his planning was going, and I could tell he was tired, based on how much he was focused this evening and the hint of eye bags. Ever since I've entered the business world, it's been energy-draining, between having to keep up a good image for our company and working behind the scenes to work for the CEO position.
Not to mention the Mafia has been calling my attention. Sometimes when I step into the underworld, I wonder if I wasn't born into this family, maybe I would have a chance where I could live normally, but that's not the case, between keeping the heads on our shoulders and knowing who is coming after me, I didn't have the luxury of living normally.
Maybe someday.
Once we left the restaurant, Jacob drove us out into the rural area where there weren't any houses but lots of fields and pretty mountains. "What brings us here?" I asked as he parked off to the side, and it looked like we were going on a small hike.
"Just follow my lead." He took my hand, and led us on the rocky pathway, up a small hill, across a bridge over a small creek, and through the small forest to step out into a field of Lily of the Valleys. And as the moonlight hit the white bell of the flowers, I gasped watching the field glow in the moonlight. It was a spectacular view, especially when the meaning behind the lily of the valley is, Happiness.
Jacob stepped from behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist, pulled me closer to him, resting his chin atop of my head, looking out into the field. "You know, sometimes I find myself here, just looking out into this random field -specifically at night- and feel all of my worries wash away." He muttered and I turned around, looking straight into his beautiful teal eyes, which sparkled with interest.
Taking in a deep breath, I wrapped my arms around his neck, stepping on my tippy toes, bringing my face close to his, and gently pressed my lips to his soft lips, and for a second he was still as a statue, before he pulled me closer by the waist, deepening the kiss.
He took over, intensifying the kiss, and just as he was about to explore my mouth, I turned away, glancing into his bright teal eyes, and his slightly swollen lips. "Be patient," I ordered feeling my alpha tone coming out, and he pouted for a second before, pulling me into a hug.
"I'll be patient." He murmured into my ear and I smiled, feeling my cheeks grow warm, listening to his slightly racing heart, just as I was listening to mine. Not only was it my first kiss, it almost seemed like it was his as well.
