Chapter 25 - Chapter 24

"Why would you think that?" Jacob walked in, wearing a fancy suit and I let out a sigh of relief. However I was shocked that he was there, 'he followed me.' I growled inwardly.

"Mafia King?!" Alaric let me go instantly, and dropped to the ground bowing to the vicious lord. I tipped my head in respect, but that was before he reached out for me and pulled me to his chest.

"I don't think someone of her status would lie. Do you think?" Julian let out a sigh of relief, luckily Jacob stepped in or the Vampire King would have been angered that someone touched his, bond mate.

"Sire, is she really yours?" Alaric looked up from the floor and looked straight into my eyes. I pulled out my gun and pointed at his face. He widened his eyes, and his breath hitched as the other men in the room.

"I belong to nobody, however you shouldn't question the Mafia King's words." Bang! I shot the floor beside the man's right arm and he squealed like a girl, it was slightly amusing.

"The check will be voided for the act of violation, even someone as low as you should know the tiers of the Mafia." Bang! I shot near his left arm, and he sat there on his knees shaking like a leaf.

"The scroll is mine. And you." I looked into Julian's eyes and he bowed his head in respect and fear. "If either one of you come into my presence for anything, I won't hesitate and put a bullet through your eyes." I pointed the gun back in Alaric's direction.

Pointed at his thigh, Bang! The bulled went in clean, while the man screamed in agony, the others looked at each other in fear. Turning around on my toes walking toward the exit of the VIP lounge, I could hear the noises and cries echoing in the hallway.

"Kenzie." I slid my gun back in its holster before walking out into the main dining area. Jacob muttered my name, and I ignored him. I was angry, if I didn't leave now, I would go back and do what I promise.

I knew both George and Jacob were worried about my condition, for George watched the whole thing, but I also noticed him falter as my mood shifted quickly. Jacob was concerned about me, for his feelings.

Once in ally way I dropped to the ground and let the tears drop from my eyes to the ground, creating a little puddle. That was close, way to close, I knew this was a dangerous job, but that didn't make this feeling go away. I just let my tears flow down, Jacob came closer, pulling me in a much needed hug.

"Kenzie, you're safe with me." He whispered into my ear, as I continued to cry into his arms. I noticed he didn't ask that obvious, but was trying to comfort me.

"Bang, Bang, Bang." I didn't catch her words, yet I could feel her anger through our bond, even George swayed as he tried to stand up. I watched the act, as blood and dirt filled the room, clouding up my senses.

She threatened the men, even Julian was scared. I knew from the scroll she was the strongest creature, nothing could stop her, except God. She was scared for a moment, then she was ready to take the next course.

"Kenzie." I whispered into her ear, slowing bringing her to the present. When I pulled back and brushed her hair out of her face. Her redden eyes, looked at me, tears streaked her face, as she slowed her breathing.

"Jacob, why did you follow me?" She asked as she looked into my eyes, with a hint of anger now.

"I was worried, you didn't write back to me, during the day, then someone told me you left the city. Kenzie, you were in a dangerous situation, if I hadn't stepped in, then it would have escalated.

She stood up and started walking toward the Suburban waiting in the ally way. Her bodyguard was watching us with interest, but clearly was relieved she had calmed down.

"Mackenzie, dinner?" She paused, looking toward her bodyguard then back to me. She didn't smile, she didn't have her glow in the eyes, she nodded then hopped into her car. I texted her the address then waited for her, booking the reservation.

She pulled up ten minutes later, with her bodyguard which she addressed as George, then turned in my direction. Her eyes were normal, and she even had a hint of a smile. 'This girl, really shifts her mood quickly.' I thought to myself as we walked to the VIP room.

"You know, I don't like the fact I'm being watched by you." She spoke as she accepted the glass of water, while George and I had wine.

"Jacob King." He nodded his head as I introduced myself, then looked to the young lady, making sure she was okay.

"Did you call Alex and let him know?" She asked as she swished her glass of water.

"I have not. I'm pretty sure he's asleep." George spoke in a clear voice then decided to leave for the restroom.

"Kenzie, I'm sorry. I just want you to be safe." She looked at me through her cloud of thoughts in her head, and didn't respond to me. Instead we ate the rest of our meal in uncomfortable silence.

"Here is your bill." I glanced up at the young waiter, and reached for the bill, taking out my wallet and paying in cash, adding a tip.

"Thank you, enjoy the rest of your night." He walked away as I stood up and went to the restroom. Both men looked up instantly, as I stepped away from the table. The whole dinner was silence, with just the clinks of silverware and the sips of drinking.

'who is this man coming after me?' I looked into the mirror as I washed my hands of the fragrant soap. 'Julian looked worried, and I caught something about the Vampire King. how was I able to hear someone's thoughts?' I just let the questions flow through me as I straightened my hair, and walked out the door.

"Miss you payed me too much!" The young man with a name tag Allen walked up and handed me back twenty. I smiled lightly and put it back into his hand.

"No, I payed the right amount, you served us well. Enjoy the rest of your night Allen." I watched him blushed a he released my hand and stepped away, walking back to the kitchen.

Stepping out into the cool air, watching the sky twinkle, was calming. I turned into the ally and walked to where are car was parked when Jacob came from behind, silently.

"Kenzie, why didn't you tell me?" Jacob called, while I was stepping away from the building. There was worry, but anger written on his face, much like mine.

"Because you would have stopped me." I turned slightly toward the suburban. "I have to return to Alex and speak about the deal. Goodnight 'King'." I bowed my head then stepped to the already turned on vehicle.

[Kenzie, who is after you?] freezing in my tracks I turned a 360 and face planted into his strong chest. Pinewood and lavender overflowed my senses, as he pinned me against the car.
