Chapter 48 - Chapter 47: Grandfather

In the underworld, the sound of battle could be heard as the Titans once again clashed with the gods of Hades.

The god of the Underworld had to constantly defend his realm of the attacks of their Titan neighbors.

Slash

With a wave of his sword, Hades sent a massive Titan crashing on the blood-stained ground.

But before he could deliver the finishing blow.

Bam

He was blasted away by the Erion with a punch.

"Erion one of the leaders of Titans,"

Hades said as he looked at the Titan whose punch sent him flying. "You have gotten stronger,"

"Yeah, surviving in a hellish prison like Tartarus for thousands of years will do that. I'm more surprised that you even remember my name, I wasn't anything special in the titanomachy,"

"I have an excellent memory," with that Hades launched himself forward sword in hand

*Hell slash*

A powerful red slash flew at an incredible speed to slam into Erion in an instant, sending him sliding away.

The attack slammed him against the wall, creating a wall of dust.

The domination of their king was a boost for the gods who fought with great vigor against their foes.

Boom

Without sustaining any damage to his body, Erion ran out of the cloud of dust, his massive form moving at an incredible speed, destroying everything in his path.

The scene was quite scary even for the Gods of the Underworld, most of them knew that if they met him, they would die.

But in front of that devastation, Hades remained unimpressed.

In one leap he appeared in front of Erion as they both swung the sword at the same time.

The instant those two weapons clashed, a powerful shock wave pushed away everyone nearby, even some Titans with their massive frame were sent flying, but in the end, it was once again Erion who was pushed away.

'Damn it, even after all these years to see, I'm still not that level.' Erion was a little bitter, even after all the years suffering and surviving in Tartarus, and the transformation he gained from Maeron, he was barely strong enough to confront Hades.

"The members of this line are really blessed," he said blocking another attack of Hades before counterattacking.

But Hades was stronger, faster, and had as much experience as him with more talent.

The more the battle raged, the more injury and damage Erion received, but he was able to give back too.

His attack connected and the King of the underworld was bleeding.

"This is crazy,"

Everyone present was in awe of the power displayed in front of them.

All of them knew that they were both very powerful but seeing it in person is completely different.

"This is incredible, they could probably kill us in a few strikes,"

"A few!? One good strike would be enough to kill us,"

"That's creepy,"

Not far away, the sound of a clash filled the room while the landscape was being devastated with each blow.

'How long do you think you will last?" Hades hissed, delivering another powerful strike. Compared to Erion, he was small, and yet each of his strikes was enough to send his opponents staggering back.

'He is getting stronger!' Erion notice as the battle drag on

'No, he isn't getting stronger, he is regaining his former strength, he is using me to train,'

The realization sent a chill down Erion's spine.

With a powerful strike, he sent Hades flying away.

Taking a deep breath Erion gathered all his divine strength in his hands

*Heaven fall*

Boom

The moment he slammed his hands down, a massive explosion that shook the underworld occurred.

The mountain trembled due to the power of these Titans, the explosion engulfed everyone present, and even those floating in the sky were knocked of balance and sent plummeting down, while those on the ground fell into the hole that Erion created.

It took a while before everything calmed down.

Bang

An explosion rang out

Slowly, Hades flew out of the rubble. His face was dark; the dark energy around him revealed his terrible mood. He had been injured by Erion's last attack, but it was nothing threatening for him.

"Damn it, I should've killed him earlier," he hissed in anger

He looked around, the Titans had disappeared the same way they came, using a portal.

"What a nightmare, all that is Zeus' fault!" He, seething, looked at the devastation around him, and slowly, his people made their way out of the rubble.

"Do you need more help?" The sweet voice of his sister and mother-in-law, Demeter, rang out as she walked out of a red rose that bloomed beside him.

"You already helped me enough, you and Hera..." he responded calmly. He was a little conflicted about Hera, after all, she was Zeus' wife, but he knew of the tension between the two, and it brought a smile to his weathered face.

A few days after the invasion when things were more stable above Hera and Demeter came to the underworld to help Hades stabilize his realm,

Unfortunately, Tartarus bordered the underworld, and even with Hera and Demeter he could only recover half of his realm.

He bore a complicated expression; he had never had any loudness for his realm, but it was his and he had to protect it or he might lose everything.

"It was just another attack, I am getting used to it, I was just a little careless, or maybe complacent, it won't happen again,"

"I see that you have regained your former strength, it's good, I prefer that version of you for my daughter,"

"I thought that you didn't want me for your daughter?!"

"I still don't, unfortunately didn't get a say in the matter," she spat a little angrily

"Thanks nonetheless,"

....

Deep in the sea

In a magnificent underwater city, Maeron was seated in a beautiful palace observing the beauty around him

"This is incredibly beautiful, I should have asked a few of your people when I decided to build my palace," he said to the towering Titan

The praise in Maeron's voice was sincere; he had explored the city a little, and the beauty of this underwater realm left him speechless.

"The women are beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, really, you have good taste, grandfather," he said, smiling at the massive Titan sitting on the throne in front of him.

"You really are Metis' son!" He said in a quiet,

"Yes, I am, you should be able to feel it in my energy grandfather,"

"There are ways to modify his divine energy..."

" But I can feel it, you have my blood, her blood," his voice was soft and calm

"..."

The two, God and Titan, Oceanus and Maeron fell into a strange silence, a little tense.

"Well, hum," Maeron scratched his cheek a little awkwardly. He was rarely out of words or even serious, but this demanded his focus.

"This is good to finally meet your grandfather,"

"Nice to meet you... grandson!"

"So, your name is Maeron right, tell me Maeron, are you the architect of the chaos raging around the world right now,"

"Yes, it's me," he answered honestly

"I see, it would explain a lot, for example why the attack here was minimal,"

Maeron harrumphed in agreement. Not a lot of people had made the connection with him and the invasion, even though there were a few signs of it; everyone was too focused on hating Zeus.

"How... are you? How was it in there?"

Maeron knew that he was referring to his years of imprisonment inside his father.

"I have a lot of words to describe it and they are not good, it was dark, lonely, nerve-wracking, I would have gone mad if I were human, but I am a god, I am resilient,"

"Um,"

The old Titan nodded at that.

"There was a good side to it, however, due to the protection that my mother provided, he never knew that I was still inside him. I learned a lot, and schemed a lot in there. There wasn't much to do anyway,"

He joked letting out a short laugh

"

"Do you hate me?"

"Huh?!"

"For my mother's death I mean, this is because of me that she died after all,"

"Um, I didn't even know you existed, but now that you are in front of me. No! I have no reason to hate you, I loved my daughter, I love all of my children, as numerous as they are, and by extension my grandchildren too,"

The massive Titan said that without any chance of expression but Maeron could feel that it was genuine

'not very expressive huh,'

"I see, it's somewhat reassuring, after all another reason I came here is to ask you to join me in my ear against Olympus,"

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he looked at the Titan that stood from his throne.

In an instant, the massive Titan took a human form and now stood in front of Maeron

"Huh,"

In an instant, Maeron was on his feet and on guard.

'Did I make a mistake in my analysis? Is he loyal to Zeus?' Maeron thought, looking at the old man, his grandfather, standing in front of him.

Maeron suddenly found himself in the embrace of the old Titan

"Welcome home, your grandmother will be happy to meet you, your mother was her preferred daughter,"

With that, he turned around and started walking

"Come, we have a lot to talk about,"

"Guess I was worried for nothing,"
