Chapter 47 - Chapter 46: Battle

In Maeron's temple

The men of Argus who had fought and lost their bet could be seen sprawling on the ground without a care in the world.

"Well, well, well, look at this? Didn't you say that you could defeat me? Are you sober now?" Julius mocked them on the ground, and they were so weak and battered that they could barely respond

"Fuck...you,"

One of them just gave him the middle finger.

At that, laughter erupted from Julius and all the spectators who followed the fight.

"Come on, guys, did you really think that you could defeat a Titan, hahaha..."

One of their comrades, drinking with the others, mocked.

"Yeah, look at their state, that alone shows how serious they were, they really believed they could win buhahaha..."

"Yeah, that's sad,"

"Seriously, even the boss said that he can't beat them, and he is now a genuine demigod with the strongest attack power inherited from our God himself."

"What can we say. Hahaha. They are always dumb fuck who lose their mind after they gain a little bit of power,"

"Come on, guys, don't be like that. They are still our comrades, don't laugh at them like that,"

"Ha, if you do something dumb, I'm laughing at your ass,"

Someone else replied

"Yeah, they make us all look bad and dumb."

"...And stupid,"

"Dumb and dumber, hahaha"

While their comrades were on the ground, they were mercilessly being roasted by their comrades.

Not everyone was surprised by the behavior of their comrades.

That kind of thing, warriors, after gaining a little power, losing their minds due to arrogance, had already been seen in other legions and cities ruled by Maeron.

Most end up slaughtered and forgotten.

It was one reason why Argus had let that bet proceed; he was hoping that the humiliation would straighten his men up.

"Hope that this humiliation helped them regain their sanity. I don't want to have to kill them one day."

Eden smiled at that. Seeing how caring Argus was toward his men made him like him more.

"Alright, boys, stop drinking. Seriously, you were supposed to be training."

"Hum, sorry my lord, we were but those guys there decided to volunteer themself to become our entertainment, so we took out the wine,"

His second explained

"I saw that. Well, I hope that the entertainment was good because it's time to go back to training."

"But my king, we were just drinking, we need time to get the alcohol out of our system,"

"Well, who asked you to drink during training hours? Go back to running, and you better not throw up, or I will make you swallow it back."

"Urgh,"

Grumbling, Argus men slowly rose before returning to the training.

The next day

Wiii, wiii, wiii

The next day, a loud siren sounded throughout the city, waking up those who were still sleeping.

"What's happening?

"What is that sound?"

"..."

A few people who just woke up asked, unaware of what was happening.

"That sound, it's the signal, we are under attack."

"Quickly go to the shelters,"

Soon, the citizens of Argos could be seen making their way toward the shelters prepared for the occasion, and as it wasn't the first time, everything was happening in relative order.

At the same time

On the walls of the city

Argus, cladded in his royal armor, standing on the ramparts of the city, was looking at the enemies approaching.

"A new monster wave, huh?" Argus smiled a little, seeing that spectacle.

The tide of monsters of all sizes is making its way toward his city.

They were still hundreds of kilometers away, but for the Argus of today, that distance was nothing; he could clearly see them coming.

Bam bam bam

The sound of their hooves crushing the ground as they approached made his heart beat.

"Interesting!"

He smiled before jumping off the wall.

"Hope you are ready, boys, once again monsters are approaching our city, and I'm sure you know what will happen if they pass us,"

Argus said as he walked in front of his men.

"There are more than two hundred thousand of them, all of them coming from the front.

Luckily for us, they are only from one direction, so there will be no distraction; we can focus all our strength on them."

A wicked smile then appeared on Argus's face.

"You finally have another opportunity to fight at full power. I hope you are happy."

"YEAH!!!!"

The ten thousand men of the Thunder formation roared in unison, happy to have another opportunity to use their new powers fully.

For those battle-hardened warriors, fighting was in their blood, and after gaining powers, they were always eager to have the opportunity to exercise those powers freely.

"Let's go,"

Like one man, they moved toward the monsters.

A few minutes later

"Kill them!"

Argus shouted as thunder coursed throughout his skin.

Boom

Letting out a battle cry, he plunged first into the horde of monsters.

With a massive grin, his sword sliced through the monsters before they could reach him with ease.

Bisected corpses of diformed creatures were sent flying in the air as he moved forward.

Behind him, his men in perfect formation were about to reach the horde.

Even though that horde was more than ten times larger than the men with more mature creatures, they were fearless.

Zizizi

Purple thunder crackles through their skin and armor before...

BANG

A massive explosion resounded when the monster army crashed into the wall of men.

But due to their formation, discipline, and thunder coating their armors, the thunder legion remains standing tall while the monsters destroyed themselves on the thunder wall.

"Attack!!!"

With a shout, they move in unison.n

The screams and shouts of the monsters spread as their flesh was burned by the power of their enemies.

Following the footsteps of their leader, they tore a bloody path through the horde of monsters.

Roar

In response, the monsters became fiercer and more frenetic.

Contrary to what it seemed, the fight wasn't as easy as it appeared from the outside; after all, the carapace hide and skin of all those monsters were tempered to resist the harsh weather of Tartarus.

It is due to their new powers or the intelligence of humans that they were able to resist.

While those monsters were only driven by instinct, the thunder legion moved with techniques and precision, but they had only received their power a short while ago, which is why their formation crumbled.

From behind the horde, a three-meter-tall monster with the appearance of a Turtle started to spin on itself before rushing toward the warriors of the thunder legion while crushing all the other monsters on its path.

"Attention, back into formation, thunder wall."

Seeing the creature charge, they moved at great speed, planting their shield on the ground.

Thundercoursese around it, reinforcing the wall as they braced for the impact.

Boom

A massive explosion resounded as the turtle monsters crushed themselves against the thunder wall, dying instantly.

Its carapace broke, and without warning, throughout the horde, like a projectile, killing and mutilating, another wave of monsters too close to the impact.

At the center of the blast, the corpses and blood of monsters could be seen everywhere.

The explosion made a lot of damage, but the thunder wall made by the legion was sturdy enough to resist the explosion; unfortunately, a lot of the men were hurled away by the blast.

A few kilometers away

"Argh, dammit,"

One member of the legion got up cursing, and as he looked around, he realized that he had been separated from his compagion.

He examined his body and let out a sigh when he realized he was fine; his new power made them more sturdy than a normal human.

Roar

A roar shook him, and soon he realized that he was surrounded by monsters.

"We were separated," he said, looking around.

"Was it bad luck?" He asked himself, taking out his sword

Before the battle even started, he heard the sound of thunder crackling not far away and realized that one of his brothers was near.

"At least they too were affected by the attack."

Crackl, his weapon shone with the purple thunder as he started to move.

The same things were happening to the others as they fought to rejoin their brothers and reform their formation.

In the center of the monster's horde, de Ar,gus cloaked in purple thunder, was battling a ten-meter-tall Battle Wolf breathing fire.

"I see that they got separated," Argus said as he put his sword above his head, stopping the massive paw of the wolf as it crushed him on the ground.

Cracks spread all over the floor, but he remained standing tall

Crackle

With a burst of power, he threw the massive paw away before launching a powerful thunder strike that shocked the wolf away as its fur burned.

"Looks like this one is in a bad spot."

Argus said even in the middle of battle, he could feel the situation with his men, and saw that one of them was in a bad situation.

But before he could do something, a massive flame flew toward him.

Whoosh

In one swift motion, he jumped out of the way before delivering a powerful flying thunder slash of his own.

The moment he saw the monster jump away to evade, he turned around and fired a powerful ball of energy behind him to save his warrior before returning to give his attention to the beast that was running toward him at full speed and with all the ferocity it possessed.

The sheer size of the creature, the flame covering its form, and the teeth capable of tearing a man in pieces made it a terrifying creature.

"If it wasn't an acquaintance with a literal Titan, I could've been intimidated by you."

"Yeah, don't forget it, you are just a big dog, with the power of my god, I will make short work of you,"

With that, the battle resumed as Argus streaked toward his enemy.

At Argos, in the sanctuary, Eden could be seen with his Titan brothers beside him, looking into the distance.

They were looking at the battle happening outside.

"Argus is doing well; he's been able to assist his men even in the heat of battle. The way he uses that power, it doesn't look like he got them near months ago," one of them said

"They could have avoided being split if they..."

"Oh, please shut up, we are looking at the fight, we all know hundreds of ways they could have avoided it, stop commenting for a second and enjoy the moment."

One of the Titans, with a massive barrel of beer, said to the one who was commenting on the fight, and he received a massive nod of appreciation from the others as they refocused on the fight.

None of the Titans were worried after all, this is how one gets stronger and better, by fighting and testing their limits.

And so the fight continues to rage under the eyes of the Titans of Maeron.
