(Jason's POV)
I made my way to the RnD department and Musaki. She had just finished testing the new material that Esqueezeme brought back and finally came up with something that won't become ashes. Thank God. Cid was busy prepping for launch and Hellfire was overseeing the loading of our supplies and the Chocobos. I didn't have anything going at the moment so I headed to test out the new gear.
Shani was working on a weapon when I came in. "Hey, the clothes are in the cabinet, put them on head in to the training room. I'll monitor you from here. It gets toasty around you."
"Very cute Musaki. I just had a lovely conversation with Hellfire. Guess what our resident giant did now?"
"Blew up Gagazet?"
"Nope, that wouldn't be a surprise. He married Kyet."
She stopped working. "Wait, What!?"
"My thoughts exactly. The man went and married Kyet. I leave him alone for a day and he does this." She was gapping at me like a fish. I pulled out the gear while she continued to sit there. "Are they planning to go the distance?" I froze as I pulled on the navy blue leather pants. The leather was soft yet thick. I had a feeling she ground up dragon scales to make the dye for the leather. "Why for the love of my sanity did you ask me that?" I didn't want to think on what he would or wouldn't do with his new wife. I know what I did to mine, but I don't need that image in my head. "Well, they are two different races, but I think it works the same way." I whirled around to glare at my best friend. "Don't you dare ask them about it. No Musaki. I didn't ask you about your sex life, you don't ask them about their wedding night." She had the grace to blush then sigh. The dreamy look she had on now was far too telling. "I do miss that weird man sometimes."
"Oh, why?! Now I have that thought in my head, thanks Musaki!" I quickly turned back to pull on the matching navy blue and gold leather tunic, before putting on the dragon scale boots that were blue woth gold detailing. The scale mail armor was also blue and gold in color. A matching hooded shoulder cape draped over my shoulders and tied to the loops on my chest plate. A black and gold Phoenix took up the center of the cape. She took way too much time on this. The matching armguards were different from my original ones. the right armguard was only covering the front of my fore arm and not the underside, leaving the tattoo exposed. I left the room quickly before she could pester me with more unwanted images. She was a danger to anyone's sanity. I made my way to the training facility.
Musaki put a lot of effort into this room. She wanted it to withstand as much as we could throw at the test dummies. [Okay Captain, like I said earlier, this is just to see if the equipment will survive the intense heat your body puts off when you fight. I don't expect much, but go nuts.] I laughed. She wanted to witness my progress with the skills I acquired. She could never fool me. Without even brushing my right fore arm, I summoned Phoenix Heart. I could feel the heat wave but my glove didn't burn up. It was a start. I tightened my grip on my sword and in a whirling slash I sliced the target dummy in a half with a horizontal cut. flames danced along my right arm and shoulder but my dragon scale mail barely heated up. "Okay, now we're talking." I said to no one in particular. I concentrated on the next target and flames shot up it greedy to devour the prey. Gear didn't even receive a scorch mark. [Turning on the turret.] Musaki chirped in the communicator in my ear. The gun popped out of a side wall and opened fire. I pushed out a barrier around me that was a wave of heat at volcanic level temperatures. The bullets melted once they met the intense heat of my barrier and fell in puddles to the floor. [Now the main event.] She sent me a dummy again. I raised my sword up and a mournful cry echoed around the room. pure white hot energy poured into my sword. I swept my sword down in a wide arc. The dummy melted on impact with the energy and a black puddle remained of it. [Congratulations, Captain. Your not naked.] I couldn't help but grin, she could no longer tease me about that anymore. [Don't worry Captain, I'm pretty sure your mattress is not fire proof. If you set fire to your room, do inform me, I will have to work on that.] I stopped smiling at the teasing note in her far too cheery voice. "I swear to God you do this on purpose!" Her laughing voice echoed around me as I left the training facility.
I made my way back to my office, now that I have a decent set of clothes, Musaki would probably make me several sets so I have clean clothes on the daily and not burn through our supplies, literally. I had to get ready for take off. Now that the main gun was on board I can have the psycho reassemble it as we go. I hope she has it done before we reach Midgard, that is my trump card.
I opened my office door to find Khimari and Kyet waiting for me. "Ah, I heard the good news, congratulations."
She tilted her head in confusion for a moment. "Good news?"
"Yes, your marriage to Prince. Am I missing something here?" Khimari actually chuckled. "Prince not marry Kyet. I give permission to Kyet to join crew. Not Marry." I sat in my chair and died of laughter. "Prince thinks he married you, oh God, that's rich." I couldn't stop laughing. I never laughed so hard in my life. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?"
Khimari stared at me for a moment before speaking. "I allow Kyet to join crew, she wants to learn new things, you teach her." I coughed to control the urge to laugh again. "I accept, now joining my crew is no picnic. You have to be at the top of the food chain. I have one rule, nothing comes before the mission. Your life is second. I don't ask questions, I demand answers. My team's mission ratio is 100 percent completion. Not a single failure. Prince will run you through the drills, I personally built this exercise regimen to train my men to be the best. They call it Hell. I expect perfection, nothing less."
Kyet digested my words her eyes never wavered, I could see the determination in them to be of use to me and the team. "Since you are prepared, Your room is on this floor down the hall, room number 6, make sure you don't leave anything behind, we won't be coming back anytime soon." She bowed and left me with Khimari. "Are you sure about this Khimari, She won't be coming back."
"I raised Kyet after my people were nearly wiped out by Seymour, She is all I had for long time. Kyet has spirit of wander. She needs to travel. Be safe with you." Khimari left me in my office to think. The Ronso Chief basically let Kyet join my team. His own daughter was joining us on an adventure she won't be coming home from. I hope that they know what their signing up for.
I finally made it to the bridge. Our campsite was torn down and loaded into cargo so when we stop somewhere we can set up shop for a week or more to gain experience and information. I sat in my Captain's chair and watched Musaki and Newind go over the preflight check list.
"Engine's at full power. All outer doors are now sealed. Prepare for Engine ignition." I felt the ship begin to start up. The roar of the engine as she sang to life. I opened the intercom. "Attention all crew members, prepare for ignition, please be seated until we are in the air and stable. Buckle up." I nodded to Newind, he hit the big red button on his console.
(Khimari's POV)
I watched the massive white ship as it rose into the air. A force field surrounding the body of it in a purple light. The engines whined to life and then, it was gone. Like it was never there to begin with. "Did the ship just vanish?"
A voice next to me spoke, menace in his voice. "The ship is gone." I gripped my spear a little tighter as I turned to stare at the man. He was well built but smaller than Darksky. He had an eerie smile as he tracked the sky with his black eyes. "How many did they awaken?"
"I know not. Only they know." I narrowed my eyes on him. "That makes my job harder. I had hoped the Ronso were smarter than to deal with pirates." He walked off into the same clearing the ship left from. I looked up at the sky that was darkening with the setting of the sun. "Be safe Kyet. Adventure finds you soon."
