Sherwin nervously entered the arena. Across from him stood a stocky young man. Attached to his back were wings. His name Rex of house Eagle. They squared off to each other. Sherwin drew his long sword while his opponent drew two short swords and leapt into the sky.
Sherwin knew he was at a clear disadvantage. As the battle began he was able to block most of the swooping attacks. However the attacks came more frequently and harder with each pass. With the next incoming attack he made a few hand motions and spoke the words. Then made the motion like throwing a ball and out from his hand a small bolt of fire flew at his opponent.
Rex surprised by this attack tries his best to dodge, however the bolt ignites the tip of his wing. He drops to the ground to extinguish the flames. Seeing Sherwin rush at him he blocks the attacks and begins to return the favor.
Clash! Clang! The fighters go back and forth blades clashing. Rex begins to look board of the fight and leaps back into the air. His speed significantly reduced. He intends to end this fight by striking down with all of his force.
Sherwin pulls out a bit of fleece. He prepares for the attack.
As Rex strikes down he moves completely through Sherwin. Then it appears that he fell for the illusion. He crashes to the ground. Bang! Sherwin standing over him sword drawn and pointed to his throat. Rex must admit defeat as well.
With a sigh Rex lifted his hands in defeat. Sherwin returned to his seat. Happy to have made it this far. The boys continued to watch the competition. Talking about all the skills they had saw. Most of the magic users would blast magic from the very beginning but they had very few sword skills.
Unfortunately for Wang of house Tiger, he was to go up against Qin of house Rabbit. Wang knew that Qin would be a very strong magic user. It was because of his amazing number of blade skills that he was placed so highly. They both entered the arena. Wang threw multiple weapons around the arena. He had blades of all manners. As the combat began he picked up to circular blade. They looked like big rings with only a small portion that your hand could be placed.
Quickly Qin threw many blasts toward Wang. She knew to keep her distance. She covered her body in magic armor. Holding a piece of iron she used a flame to heat the iron using her magic she caused the rings to become incredibly hot.
Wangs first reaction was to throw the blades at Qin. he quickly rushed to grab another set of blades. These were shaped like hooks. However he noticed that Qin had dodged the rings easily. He now had to advance while dodging more blasts.
With a tiny ball of sulfur Qin makes motions and speaks the words then points toward Wang. A 40 ft wide fireball explodes and he is unable to dodge it completely.
Wang fortunately knew that she would take sometime to recharge. He rushed forward. Qin quickly tried to throw a few firebolts toward him. Wang could not cast magic like normal users, however he could enhance his blades. He was able to cut through the fireblasts with ease. As he approached it looked as though he danced with an elegance to attack his opponent. Finally reaching his target he used his hook blade to trip her then placed the blades at her throat demanding that she surrender.
Wang had won, but he had a few burns and was a bit beat up. All the contestants had finished their trials and were now sitting to wait for the interview portion. The leaders were making a list and preparing questions. The interviews were the final portion to the Trials. After this they would be sent to rooms for the night to wait for contracts to be sent to them from different houses. The houses would have all of the next day to send offers.
Wes, Z and Sherwin sat patiently waiting their turns. They were nervous. Trying to convince the leaders that they were more worthy than others seemed like and insurmountable task, but they must try their best.
