Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: One at the Top, One at the Bottom

"How's your mission?" Dark asked Avery when he saw the woman enter the room where they were.

They're currently in the basement. Garrett's playroom, to be exact. The room was equipped with a computer set with three monitors connected to each other. There were also some other high-tech gadgets that were installed at random.

"Nailed it!! The package was in my car." Avery proudly answered while handing the envelope that she is holding to Dark. Then she takes a look at what the others are doing.

'Lucky bastards!!' Avery silently complained when she saw that they're just drinking, eating, laughing, playing games, and just enjoying the moment. Except for their boss, who just sits there, drinking his wine silently. What he is thinking is unknown.

"Hmm." Dark hummed as his acknowledgement while receiving the envelope and checking what's inside.

Upon pulling the papers inside, Dark just scanned them and read what was in them briefly. After that, he just dropped them on the table nonchalantly.

"Send the package to our client and tell them to remit their remaining balance, Avery. Garrette, take the folder, send it to the one who's in charge of this case." Dark commanded them while he picked up his wine glass again and sip on it slowly, savoring the bitter, sour, and sweetness of the wine.

"Got it!!" Avery and Garrette responded, as the others only continued what they were doing.

When Dark gave his command, he walked out of the room— still holding his wine glass while occasionally sipping on it.

He kept on walking. Walking without any direction in mind. Until, he finds himself in the back garden, from which he can see Rami's room and his little antics in there.

"How cute." Dark unconsciously uttered.

When he realized what he had just said, he froze. What was happening to him? This wasn't like him at all. Should he let Rami leave now—his injury was healed anyway—so he could go back to his usual self?

But the moment he imagined Rami leaving, a faint sense of resistance stirred inside him. Wanting to drive that feeling away, he gulped down the rest of the wine in his glass. Yet instead of forgetting, the only thing that resurfaced was the memory of their kiss.

That accidental kiss.

Remembering that kiss, he doesn't know how to react or what to do. All he knew was that he didn't hate it. In fact, he wanted more, and he's ashamed because of it.

Meanwhile, Rami, because of the call from his brother, is planning what he is going to do with his remaining days here. Pondering what he'll do to cherish the remaining days and filling it with memories together with Dark.

Thinking about Dark, he couldn't help but blush. He remembered the kiss again. It was actually his first kiss. Though, he felt a little disappointed—he barely got to feel it. It happened so abruptly, and at the same time, he was so shocked that he just froze.

'Oh, come on! That was my first kiss—our first kiss—and it had to happen like that?' Rami complained in frustration, pacing restlessly around his room.

'Don't be so joyful. That's only accidental!!' Rami's brain retorted.

'Even if it's just an accidental kiss, it's still a direct kiss.' Rami silently screamed. He gripped his hair out of frustration.

After a while of arguing with his inner self like a madman, he finally concedes defeat and just carries on with formulating on what he's gonna do.

"Urgh! I'll just act like I always do and enjoy the remaining days with them." Rami says loudly while giving his hair one last gripped and brushing it furiously when he can't think of any ways on what to do.

At last, he allowed the drowsiness to take over, completely unaware that his beloved was watching him from the garden—right outside his room.

The next day, Rami woke up early to prepare breakfast. He didn't make anything fancy—just a simple American-style breakfast. The main dish was waffles topped with whipped cream and decorated with strawberries and blueberries. For the sides, he made breakfast tacos and egg muffins.

He also prepared an espresso for those who prefer a strong taste, and a cappuccino for those who like something lighter. As for himself, he made an avocado milkshake packed with many ice cubes. He never liked hot drinks.

"Come, have your breakfast." Rami offered to the person who entered the kitchen.

He offered his sweetest smile to the person, who was surprisingly Dark.

Dispelling his shyness and embarrassment, he smiled wider even more. As if offering something to his God, he extended his hand which was holding a cup of espresso to Dark. Hoping that he would like his homemade espresso.

Sitting on the table full of food, Dark received the hot beverage which Rami offered him without saying anything.

Drinking a little, the taste of the coffee surrounds his taste buds. He could not help but to take another mouthful of espresso. He has never tasted anything like this espresso from the different high-end cafes and other well known restaurants that they went to before.

Noticing that Rami's still standing beside him, Dark asks Rami softly, "Won't you sit down and take your fill also? You made this, so you ought to."

"Oh, umh, okay." Rami replied shyly.

Rami nervously sat down.

That makes Dark frown.

He didn't like how Rami acted so conscious and shy towards him.

He was about to say something when the others entered the kitchen.

Dark simply kept his mouth shut. He just looked at the newly awakened others who entered the kitchen.

Sure enough, Dark is quite certain that these people were awakened when they smell the fragrant aroma coming from the food that Rami cooked and served.
