Chapter 367 - Chapter 367. The Lizard King's Anger IV

Dragon King's Harem Chapter 367. The Lizard King's Anger IV

The archers drew their bows, the tension of the strings adding to the already charged atmosphere. A moment later, a volley of arrows soared into the night, their deadly tips aimed at the shadowy figures lurking in the trees.

The arrows found their marks, striking branches and foliage with precision.

The Nightshade Ravagers were forced out of their hiding spots, their sleek, black forms illuminated by the moonlight. Their glowing eyes, like twin orbs of malevolence, glared back at the camp. They hissed and snarled, their collective growl was a sinister symphony.

"There they are!" Viperax shouted, his eyes narrowing with determination. "Form ranks! Shield wall at the front, spearmen behind! Prepare for their charge!" he commanded, his voice echoing through the camp.

The soldiers moved swiftly, their training and status as the royal soldiers of the lizard king was evident as they formed a defensive line.

- Clang! - Clang! – Clang!

Shields locked together, creating a barrier, while the spearmen readied their weapons behind them. Viperax walked among them, his presence a source of encouragement. He could see the fear in their eyes since anything can go wrong quickly in a night ambush, but he also saw resolve. They were ready to fight, to defend their king and their camp.

From the darkness, the Nightshade Ravagers began their attack. They moved with terrifying speed, their bodies sleek and agile as they darted forward. The archers continued to fire, picking off as many as they could, but there were too many. The Ravagers swarmed toward the camp, their numbers overwhelming.

"Hold the line!" Viperax roared, positioning himself at the forefront. He drew his sword. The first Ravager to reach him lunged, its fangs bared, but Viperax met it with a swift, powerful strike. His sword cleaved through the creature, its body falling lifeless to the ground. Its blood sprayed onto his face.

The battle was fierce and chaotic. The Ravagers attacked relentlessly, their toxic fangs and claws a constant threat. Soldiers fell, but the line held. He fought with a ferocity born of anger and pride, his movements a blur of lethal precision. Each swing of his sword felled another Ravager, but for every one that fell, more took its place.

His wives watched from a distance, their fear palpable. They could see their husband's rage driving him, his need to prove himself and exact vengeance on those he believed responsible for this attack. They prayed for his safety, knowing that his victory or defeat would determine their own fates.

Amidst the chaos, Viperax's mind remained sharp, searching for clues, for any sign that this attack was more than it seemed. He scanned the battlefield, looking for anything out of place, anything that might confirm his suspicion that Argod was behind this.

In the midst of the melee, a glint caught his eye—a figure moving through the shadows, not with the feral grace of a Ravager but with deliberate intent. It was a brief glimpse, but enough to ignite a spark of certainty within him.

"There!" he shouted, pointing with his sword. "There's someone else! Find them!"

A group of his elite soldiers broke away, following his direction. Viperax continued to fight, his anger now mixed with a burning desire for confirmation. If this was indeed Argod's doing, he would ensure that the Dragon King paid dearly.

Yes—it had to be one of Argod's subordinates or the Dragon King himself, Viperax couldn't be sure. Argod's annoying portal skill was known for allowing him to move with impunity, slipping in and out of places unseen. But suspicion alone wasn't enough. He needed proof, something tangible to confront Argod with.

As he watched the battlefield, he saw his elite soldiers struggling to push through the Ravagers. The beasts were relentless, their numbers and ferocity making it difficult for his men to advance. Frustration gnawed at him; he needed them to reach the figure he had glimpsed in the shadows fast!

"Boulders!" he commanded, his voice ringing out over the din of battle.

His soldiers immediately understood. They began to retreat to a safer distance, their movements coordinated and swift.

Once they were clear, they began to plant their weapons into the ground and chant, the air around them crackling with energy. The ground trembled as they invoked their earth spell, Death Boulder. Massive boulders materialized in front of them.

In unison, the soldiers kicked the boulders, sending them rolling towards the Nightshade Ravagers. The huge stones barreled forward with immense force, crushing everything in their path. Ravagers that had been so fearsome moments before were now being pulverized, their bodies broken under the boulders.

The effect was immediate and devastating. The Ravagers' advance faltered as they were forced to dodge the deadly projectiles. Some were too slow or too unlucky, caught in the path of the rolling stones and obliterated. The tide of battle began to shift as the Ravagers hesitated, their numbers thinning.

Viperax seized the opportunity. "Push forward! Now!" he bellowed, rallying his men.

With renewed vigor, his soldiers surged ahead, cutting through the disoriented Ravagers. The elite soldiers, freed from the immediate threat, pressed toward the location where Viperax had seen the shadowy figure.

Viperax stared intently at his elite soldiers as they moved further away, disappearing into the shadows of the forest. 'Argod... This time I'll definitely get you,' he thought, his resolve hardening. The memory of his humiliation burned brightly in his mind, fueling his determination.

The previous attack had decimated the ranks of the Nightshade Ravagers. The few remaining creatures looked hesitant, their confidence shaken by the deadly boulders and the fierce resistance of Viperax's troops. Viperax was certain that this ambush would end in failure for the attackers. He could almost taste the bitter satisfaction of victory.

But then, a piercing scream shattered his moment of triumph. It came from the camp behind him. His wives!

His heart skipped a beat, and he turned sharply, his eyes scanning the camp. The scream was followed by another, and then another. Panic and chaos erupted as soldiers and servants rushed towards the source of the commotion. Viperax's blood ran cold.

Without a second thought, he sprinted back towards the camp, his mind racing with fear and rage. The screams grew louder as he approached, his heart pounding in his chest. He pushed through the panicked crowd, desperate to reach his wives.
