While this was happening, the villagers in Pan Shan Village were scurrying about, making preparations.
According to Xu Ques instructions, they went down to the fields to hunt for snakes in the ditches. Once they caught the snakes, they obtained its blood. Others went to the nearby streams and even more went into the forests to hunt for sparrows.
Everyone combined their efforts to carry out the instructions. Before long, they had three fresh trays of blood ready in the village.
"Immortal elder Xu instructed us to obtain this blood. But what could the reason possibly be?"
"Thats right. These are mere animals blood. Can they stop the immortals from attacking us?"
"Ai..."
The villagers all had looks of worry and anxiety across their faces as they shook their heads and sighed.
Xiao Rou raised her hands and replied them sincerely, "Fellow villagers, please dont worry. Brother Xu Que will definitely protect us."
She raised her head and gazed in the direction behind the mountains. Her heart spoke out, "I believe brother Xu Que."

Meanwhile, Xu Que was still standing at the top of the mountain but didnt attempt to antagonize the opposing cultivators. After all that taunting, he was rather tired.
He turned his head to look at Pan Shan Village, just below the mountains. His high cultivation skills enabled him to see far ahead at the villagers down below. He could see that they were gathered together in the village and he guessed that they managed to gather the blood of the three different animals.
It can also be said that the only ingredient missing at this point was the tigers blood. After that, activating the Four Directions Desolation spell would be very easy.
Xu Que looked around and gazed upon the mountain across where many immortal cultivators had gathered. He snorted at them before laughing icily, "You guys are trash. Since you dont dare to fight with me, I shall return back to sleep. Goodbye."
As he finished speaking, he turned around and leapt into the forest.
Soon after, he used his Lightning Haste spell once again and hurriedly roamed the forests, trying to find a tiger.
The cultivators across looked at him in despair before speaking in a hushed voice.
"This persons cultivation skills are extremely strange. Hes even able to control lightning, which is unheard of."
"His master is definitely someone powerful and yet weve never heard of anyone extraordinarily powerful show up of late. Who could it be?"
"Why dont we pretend to pay our respects to his master and visit him? Once we discover who he is, we might be able to make an accurate judgement and act accordingly."
"No, absolutely no!", elder Liu spoke out once again.
He fiddled with his beard and spoke in a soft voice, "His original intentions were to agitate us and lure us to where he was. All of a sudden, he decided to leave. His plan must be to lure us to wherever hes going. That would be a good excuse for his master to slaughter us. Everyone, please do not fall for it."
"But we cant just remain here and wait?" Someone frowned and replied.
Everyone present reached a deadlock as to how to proceed forward.
"Oh, Ive got an idea.", an old man exclaimed, causing several people to jump up in shock at his loud voice.
"Elder Wang, what do you mean in your sudden outburst?" Another old man revealed an unkind expression as he asked.
Elder Wangs expression was one of horror and shock as he gazed down at Pan Shan Village warily. He then spoke slowly and carefully, "Ive recalled something. This persons master could very well be that person"
"Who?" Everyones interest was piqued as all looked eager at elder Wang to provide an explanation.
Elder Wang then mumbled to himself, "This matter happened more than ten years ago. At that point in time, I happened to be travelling around the world. When I arrived in Ling Nation, I paid a visit to a big sect there. Fortunately, I befriended the sect leader of a sect and he told me a legend."
"Oh?" Everyone asked curiously.
Elder Wang continued, "According to this legend, there was a great and powerful being in the cultivation world. His name was Duan Jiu De. This persons temperament was extremely volatile and enjoyed plundering the treasure coves of other people and sects. When he was in a good mood, he would annihilate the entire sect and all their family members. He was known to be a vile and evil man. However, the problem was that his cultivation level and skills were extremely powerful. Even the Infant Transformation Stage immortals were no match for him."
"What? Theres really such a person in the cultivation world?"
When everyone heard this, they were astounded.
Everyone knew that there were no lack of such stories, where cultivators resorted to a variety of tricks in order to steal treasured goods. "But, then again, its hard to say. If this Duan Jiu De was really so impressive, he probably wouldnt come to such a poor village and remain here."
"If not, should we send someone to request for assistance from Celestial Sect?"
"No, that wont do. If Celestial Sect comes, wont that mean that our reward and prizes wouldnt be given to us any longer?"
"Thats right. In fact, since he stole the treasures belonging to Celestial Sect, they would reclaim the treasures for themselves once they capture him. Then, we wouldnt be able to get our hands on the treasures."

Just as the immortal cultivators were wildly guessing, Xu Que had already circled half the forested area around Pan Shan Village. Since he had powers which enabled him to do it quickly, it wasnt exactly because he was hardworking.
Halfway to the top of the mountain, there was a creek. He then realized that an old tiger was resting beside it.
To put it into perspective, this tiger was extremely different from the tigers which could be found on Earth.
It had a huge frame, almost as big as a rhinoceros. It had a long pair of teeth jutting out from the front of his mouth and looked exactly like an animal which had long gone extinct on Earth the saber-tooth.
However, with Xu Ques current cultivation level, dealing with a tiger like that wasnt difficult at all.
"Whoosh!" The lightning beneath his feet swept across the forest, as the Lightning Haste technique was demonstrated. In the blink of an eye, he appeared behind the that saber-tooth tiger. Without further hesitation, he swung his sword down upon upon the back of the tiger.
"Kacha!"
The sound of bones breaking into fragments could be heard. And that "saber tooth" tiger was vanquished without even knowing what happened.
Not wasting anymore time, Xu Que picked up the tigers carcass and carried it back to the village.
The villagers had been waiting for quite some time for him to show up. The minute they looked towards the forest and saw Xu Que carrying a tiger, everyone was astounded.
That moment, Xu Que didnt have much time to act tough. He hurriedly instructed everyone to drain the tiger of its blood. At the same time, he waved a hand to signal for them to bring the tray of blood from the other three animals and kept it in the storage space within the system.
Before long, the blood from the tiger had been drained out as well. Time was of the essence and Xu Que didnt even have time to linger and make conversation. He hurriedly conjured the Lightning Haste and left in a hurry.
It was a race against time. He had to prepare all the necessary enchantments before the group of cultivators decide to enter the village. That was the only way he knew how to ensure their safety.
The process of acquiring the blood was surprisingly uneventful.
Xu Que returned to the four corners where he had placed the markers earlier. He then poured out the blood of the snake at the eastern front where the blood of the eastern green dragon was required.
Blood seeped into the ground as the earth devoured it hungrily. Before long, a red image of a large dragon totem materialized from beneath the ground, above the marker.
Xu Que was astounded by this but didnt have time to admire it. He then hurriedly turned to the location of the black tortoise and poured the blood over the marker as well. Similarly, a large black tortoise totem appeared over the marker.
Before long, he was at the fourth and final marker, pouring the blood of birds down onto the ground. All of a sudden, a huge wave and ripple was sent our within 10 kilometers radius from Pan Shan Village.
The second the vermillion sparrows blood had congealed on the ground, a loud piercing sound rang out from the skies, similar to the crashing of thunder and lightning.
Boom!
In the next instant, energy was drawn from all around, including the heavens and earth and coalesced in the air, just above Pan Shan Village. Soon enough, the energy formed a large swirling vortex that was immeasurably deep and was greedily absorbing more energy from the environment.
After the vortex had absorbed enough energy, it rapidly transformed into a spherical protective screen that covered the entire village and any area within a ten kilometers radius.
Soon after, a bright ray of light blossomed from all directions of the village and shone brightly overhead, like a myriad of stars above.
The Four Directions Desolation had been activated!
The force which swept through the village and cause tremors were so powerful that it shocked the villagers.
All of them looked up with their mouths and eyes gaping wide open as they stared at the lights and protective shield. They had thought that the immortal cultivators had attacked and scared the wits out of them, causing their faces to turn pale. Most of them fell to their knees, begging for the protection of their deities.
Xu Que hurriedly rushed back and saw the sight of the villagers kneeling. He then paused in shock and asked, "What are you guys kneeling for? This is the spell which Ive conjured. Fellow villagers, please rise. Nobody will ever bully or take advantage of you in future."
"Sp-Spell?" The villagers all asked in shock.
So this was a protective spell!
But Would such a thin layer of protective light be able to ward off so many immortal cultivators?
The villagers looked above at the protective spells in awe. Some had their doubts but didnt dare to voice them.
However, Xiao Rous face was one of relief and admiration as she ran over, "Brother Xu Que, are we really safe?"
"Of course its true. Were really safe." Xue Que smiled.
Seeing Xiao Rous adorable demeanor, he couldnt help himself and gently pinched her cheeks.
Xiao Rou froze in shock as her face blushed a deep shade of red in shyness.
Seeing her this shy, Xu Que laughed out loud, "Haha! Fine. All of you wait here and watch how I collect their bones."
"Ah. Brother Xu Que, wont you stay here with us?" Xiao Rou asked, clearly frightened still.
"I will return after Im done with them. This spell was conjured to protect yourself and the other villagers. Only with you safe will I be able to focus on claiming their lives."
"But But there are so many of them." Xiao Rou replied worryingly.
"Even if they had more people than they currently have, I will not let them bully the people of our village." Xu Que spoke out loudly.
His selfless demeanor and willingness to risk his safety for the villagers touched everyone present.
"Ding! Congratulations to host Xue Que for successfully acting tough. The reward is 5 acting tough points."
The system rang out, causing Xu Que to laugh. "Haha! I shall be back soon. Everyone, please dont worry about me."
As he finished, he called on the Lightning Haste spell and a bolt of lightning wrapped around him, taking him to the peak of the mountain.

At this time, the immortal cultivators had long noticed the ground shaking movements as they looked about frantically for its source.
"Whats happening?"
"It must be that someone has casted a restricting spell."
"The ripples created by the spell was quite considerable. But upon closer look, the spell looks very average and ordinary, without much strength."
"Yes, thats right. Theres a layer of light thats covering the village but looks much weaker than the spell we use to protect our own sects mountain."
"Its just a small hindrance to us."
After everyone had taken a closer look at the spell, they shook their heads in disdain.
Only elder Liu remained composed and deep in thought. All of a sudden, he shouted out, "Oh no. Weve been tricked by that little worm. If there was really a powerful being within Pan Shan Village, why would there be a need for a protective enchantment?"
Everyone listened before bursting out into discussion.
"Thats right. Besides, such a simple and average spell doesn't seem like it was casted by a powerful cultivator."
Elder Liu stroked his beard and laughed out loud, "Haha! We were stupid and fell for his scheming tricks. Right now, he must think that hes clever and thus casted this protective enchantment. However, in doing so, he revealed a flaw in his schemes. Everyone, I dare to promise, theres no such powerful cultivator in Pan Shan Village. Lets break the spell!"
As he spoke, elder Liu decided to lead the charge in breaking the spell. He had a gallant look on his face as he stepped on his flying sword and flew up into the air. The disciples who were following elder Liu picked up their flying swords and decided to kill their way through as well.
Suddenly, a shadow appeared,flying up from Pan Shan Village and resembled a bolt of lightning. One moment, he looked to be some distance away. In the next, he appeared on top of elder Liu in midair.
"Eh?" ELder Liu could feel a shadow looming over his head as he looked up ferociously.
"Whoosh!" a flash of lightning zoomed past his vision, causing elder Liu to swear out. He knew something wasnt quite right.
However, even before he could react and run away, a pungent smelling pair of feet stepped down hard on his head.

"Pow!"
The speed and strength was unnaturally astonishing, giving no time for Elder Liu to react. After his face had been kicked, he fell off his flying sword and landed on the ground.
"Not good!"
"Elder Liu, be careful."
All the cultivators around reacted to this sight as they shouted out in surprise.
Several others, whose reflexes were faster, managed to cast spells and charged straight at the oppressor.
Clearly, the person who attacked was Xu Que as he rode atop a bolt of lightning, causing his movements to be extremely quick. After striking out, he hurriedly headed for the mountain just behind Pan Shan Village.
The sounds of his laughter could be heard.
"Haha! Old strands of hair, were you scolding me behind my back? Heres a kick to your face. Youre welcome."
"Asshole!" Elder Liu stood up, his entire body was trembling in fury.
This powerful figure within the cultivation world now had the imprint of a shoe across his face and was an extremely comical sight.
The other cultivators were furious as well as they pointed at Xu Que and shouted out.
"Despicable and evil person! You dare to attack us stealthily?!"
"You dare to hurt the elder of my sect? Youre finished!"
"If you dare, come and fight!"
Elder Lius disciples were enraged as they pointed at Xu Que and started scolding him loudly.
Xu Que shirked his shoulders and held a look of indignance and replied, "How can that be considered stealth? I came here openly. Its just that the entire bunch of you are rubbish and your eyes cannot catch up to my speed."
"You little bastard, youre asking for death." Elder Lius face was contorted into ugly rage as he gritted his teeth and cursed.
Xu Que was enraged too, "Old sparse hair, please mind your language. The minute you open your mouth, dirty words come out. Did your mother teach you that? Then your mother probably didnt have much manners as well?"
When everyone heard this, their lips curled in a snarl. Elder Liu was so angry he nearly passed out.
Damn it, arent you cursing and speaking dirty words as well?
"I only speak this way to the bunch of you. Anyway, old sparse hair over here is correct. Youve been tricked. Theres no powerful cultivator in Pan Shan Village. Oh, thats not right. I am the powerful immortal!"
Xu Que then laughed, his eyes were barely visible in his laughter.
An old man stepped forward, his face was downcast. "Hm Regardless of whether theres a powerful being, youre dead today for sure."
"Is that so?" Xu Que opened his mouth and looked at the ray of light overhead and smiled, "You bunch of trash, see if you can penetrate my spells first before speaking."
The crowd was enraged as everyone conjured their own spells and charged towards Xu Que with killing intents.
Elder Liu stood there and laughed, "So the spell was casted by you. No wonder it looked average at best. Although you caused quite a stir by casting the spell, if you think its going to hold us back, youre a dreaming fool."
The several disciples behind him all agreed vehemently.
"Thats right. Elder Liu is correct."
"Just a mere spell and you wish to obstruct us? Youre simply boasting and courting death."
"When we break through your spells, we shall make you beg us to end your life because of all the pain we shall inflict on you."
Xu Que replied happily, "Yo yo yo, you really think you can break through my protective spell?"
Elder Liu shook his head and smiled, "Ignorant young thing. Do you really think that acquiring your first precious spell is enough to stop us?"
"Oh, it looks like youre the ignorant ones. I never intended for this spell to obstruct you. Because" Xu Que paused for sometime, as killing intent built up within his eyes as he continued, "I planned to use it to kill you."
The minute he said this, everyone around was stumped.
Soon after, everyone on the mountain burst out in uncontrollable laughter.
"Haha!!! Did you guys hear that? That little kid wanted to use that protective spell to kill us."
"What a stupid fool!"
"Its really scary to be ignorant."
"One look and I know this kid hasnt seen the real world. If he were to see the protective spells casted around my sect, he would be scared to death."
The immortal cultivators continued laughing as elder Liu shook his head with a mocking expression.
"Little bastard, to be very honest, I am extremely proficient and knowledgeable with such spells. Your tiny and insignificant spell can be broken by me in the time it takes for my to finish a cup of tea. Prepare to die."
Seeing all their reactions, Xu Que was stumped as some uncertainty surfaced in his heart.
Damn it. Could it be true that the Four Directions Desolation was really not as powerful as I imagine?
That doesnt make sense. I spent a full 80 acting tough points on it and the spell description even said that those below the Infant Transformation Stage would die if they tried to force their way in.
Could it be that the cultivators in this world are all well versed with spells and have already reached an elite level when it came to casting and dealing with spells?
Xu Ques heart had several doubts as fear swamped him. If these group of people really managed to break through the spells, that would be disastrous.
Xu Que then turned his eyes away and decided to try it out first before making his next move. He then looked at elder Liu and shouted across.
"Old sparse hair, you said that you can break through the spell in the time it takes to finish a small cup of tea. Fine. I shall give you the time needed to drink a cup of tea, come and try it."
"Hm, youre hungry for death."
Elder Liu cleared his throat as he stepped on his flying sword. His body soared into the sky as he waved his hands, summoning a huge fire energy to his palms.
Boom!
The fire energy accumulated before his body as it formed countless of fiery swords with red glowing energy around them. They floated in midair, poised to strike.
"I wont even need to open my eyes to break your protective enchantments." After elder Liu spoke out, he mumbled to himself.
"Break it."
At the same time, the numerous flaming swords coalesced into a red ray of burning light as it charged towards the mountain behind Pan Shan Village like raindrops.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The fire swords slammed against the ray of light sphere enchantments, causing loud thudding sounds to be heard.
Everyones eyes were fixed onto the glowing enchantment, trying to see it being destroyed.
Elder Lius face revealed a confident smile as he watched on.
After the time needed to finish a cup of tea had passed and all the fire swords had been depleted, the bright protective screen looked exactly the same, unblemished and undamaged. It was as if the fiery assault didnt even happen.
For a split second, there was complete and utter silence.
Elder Lius smile froze across his face.
Xu Que paused in anticipation before he burst out laughing. "Haha! Break through the enchantments? Old sparse hair, are you joking?"
Elder Lius cheeks and ears turned red, his anger was burning up within him.
The cultivators around him were embarrassed as well. This matter was extremely humiliating and shameful for them.
Its just How could that happen?
Elder Lius knowledge and experience in such spells were anything but insignificant. How could a small fry like this conjure a protective spell that wouldnt break? Unless there was something fishy behind it?
"Iya, the powerful immortal is bored!" Xu Que sighed and looked up at the heaven as he sighed in boredom.
"Tell me. If you guys cant even break through a mere small spell such as this, how can you dare to talk a whole lot of crap outside and talk of killing me?"
"Cluck cluck. Come on, Im waiting to kill all of you."
"Why arent you speaking? Come on. My neck is extended for you to slaughter."
Hearing Xu Que speak all these taunts and antagonizing words, the many immortal cultivators were all furious beyond words.
A young disciple stepped forward and started shouting in response.
"If you have the guts, come out and deal with us! Dont hide within the spell like a timid tortoise!"
"Thats right. Stop hiding in the spell and speaking such words. If you are really capable, come out and have a good fight."
"Exactly. If you have the guts to come out, I will fight you with just one hand."
All the disciples around had a glimmer in their eyes as they began responding to Xu Que with insults and riled themselves up.
Several sect elders nodded their heads in approval as well, thinking that this wasnt a bad idea.
These hot blooded youths are young, aggressive and vigorous. They would certainly be unable to tolerate such insults.
The minute Xu Que steps out of the enchantment, they will strike like lightning and take him down.
However, Xu Que seemed extremely calm and unperturbed by the insults thrown at him.
He slowly walked over to a large tree and sat beneath it with his legs crossed. He then raised his head, pointing his nose to the sky and gave off an arrogant look. "Do you think you have the ability to fight with such a mighty being like myself?"
The immortal cultivators were incensed by these words as the several elders snarled furiously.
Damn it, Ive never seen such a shameless person ever!

Elder Liu cleared his throat and shouted out across.
"Hm, since you dont dare to come out, just remain there and hide yourself. After today, we shall send people here to guard this area everyday. You and your villagers will never be able to leave this place!"
Xu Que started laughing maniacally.
"Haha! I have no intentions of hiding. Its just that I really wish to test the powers of this protective spell. Besides, its already clear that the spell I casted is on a different league from those dog shit spells you use to protect your own sects."
"Oh right, dont assume that just because youre standing outside the spell, you would be safe from it."
"Because Youre still within the attacking distance from my spell!"
The minute his last word was spoken, he retrieved something from within the folds of his robes. It was the amulet for the Four Directions Desolation Spell!
Using two hands, he pressed down on southern point the amulet, where the vermilion sparrow symbol was.

Instantaneously, the nearest marker from where he was rumbled as a bright ray of light shot towards the heavens.
The spot which was stained with the blood from vermillion sparrows shook as a solid figure emerged from the ground. It gradually formed the outlines of a vermillion sparrow, as light rays swirled around it.
"Eeeeek!"
After several breaths, a loud screeching sound could be heard in all directions.
The immortal cultivators around were astonished and couldn't help but tremble in fear.
Soon after, a sparrow which was surrounded in burning flames erupted and flew across towards the immortal cultivators, scaring them out of their wits.
Although it was somewhat small in size, it was a majestic looking phantom which was covered in flames. As it took form, it charged down upon the cultivators, who were staring wide eyed.

"What?"
"Thats Is that the ancient mythical beast the phoenix?"
"How Hows that possible? How could there be a phoenix here?"
At this point, everyone was thrown into a wave of confusion and panic as they screamed out in fear.
Xu Que was standing at the side as he operated the amulet, laughing out loud. "Idiot. Come, all of you come here!" Let me give you lot some education. This is called a vermillion sparrow. How can you call yourselves immortal cultivators if you dont even know that! You bunch of unsophiscated bumpkins, you cant even differentiate between a vermillion sparrow and a phoenix. If I were your sect leader, I would expel every single one of you from my sect. So damn embarrassing"
Xu Que looked extremely contented as he wanted to continue his flurry of insults and verbal abuses. However, nobody seemed to care about him right now. The several elders who were present were all extremely fearful as they saw the appearance of the vermillion sparrow and were trying their hardest to flee.
"Not good, lets flee!"
"Go back and find Celestial Sect. This matter is beyond our control and no longer our fight!"
"Hurry, retreat!"
Under the command, everyone around summoned their flying sword and floated into the air as they attempted to escape.
Not far off, three additional beams of light materialized from the sky.
The roars of several other beasts rang out in the sky. A large green dragon flew over from afar as it slithered majestically around in mid air. It was so enormous that it almost seemed to block out the entire sky from view.
A muscular and huge framed white tiger sped through the forest at the speed of light and stopped beside Xu Que. The tiger glared vehemently at the group of immortal cultivators.
In the next moment, a mountain seemed to be moving towards them. When they looked up, they realized that it was a huge black turtle.
In that instant, they were surrounded by huge mythical beasts.
Everyone was stumped.
"Ancient The four ancient mythical beasts"
"My god. How is this possible?"
"There were ancient records of such creatures in existence once before. But havent they flown over to the spiritual realm from here? How could they appear here now?"
Everyone was horrified by the sight that had greeted them. The skies and ground were blocked off by these gargantuan beasts and there was nowhere for them to escape.
Just a single vermillion sparrow was enough to break their courage and scare them off. It was needless to emphasize how afraid they were after seeing three more powerful, legendary beasts make an appearance.
Their might and powers were as wide as the heavens and swept across both the skies and lands. These cultivators had nowhere to run as they were cornered by the four beasts.
Xu Que stood atop the mountain confidently as he glimpsed down upon Elder Liu and laughed, "Now Do you still think this spell can be broken through?"
"Impossible! Impossible! Absolutely impossible! With your level of cultivation, how could you have conjured such a mighty spell?" Elder Liu was scared beyond measure.
Elder Liu had achieved recognition within the realm of spells as one of the most experienced practitioners. Yet he had never heard of anyone who was able to summon these legendary beasts to his side. How could he ever bring himself to believe that a mere insect like Xu Que, who hasnt even broken past the Core bearing Stage be able to conjure such powerful spells?
Right at this moment, a disciple pointed up into the sky at the green dragon and shouted out, "Thats not right. Elders, take a look. The body of the dragon seems more like a phantom than an actual dragon."
The minute he spoke out, everyone seemed to be startled.
Their eyes all fell upon the dragon and noticed that it was giving off light.
"Thats right, the other three beasts are exactly the same. Their bodies are not solid."
"Theyre made out of light."
"That means to say, that these arent the actual four legendary beasts?"
Elder Liu craned his neck to take a look, his expression was one of exuberrance as he gave out a loud laughter.
"Hahaha! I understand. Not bad, you little bastard. Not a bad plan at all. You used deception to trick us once again."
"Its now obvious that your spell is just a spell of deception. You created the phantoms of these four legendary beasts to scare us away. Thankfully we realized your plans. If not, wed have truly fallen for your trickery."
The more Elder Liu spoke, the more agitated he became. As if he was starting to realize that he was going to make it out of here alive after all.
Gradually, his expression turned into one of mockery as he laughed coldly at Xu Que, "Come, I shall stand here. Command your four legendary beasts to attack me."
Right now, Elder Liu had no fear on his face which he had shown earlier. Instead, he looked confident and all assuming.
Standing in the middle of the four beasts as they converged on him, he was calm and composed. He felt extremely formidable and mighty.
All the other disciples and elders recognized the situation and finally understood the "truth". Hence, none of them were afraid any longer as they smiled mockingly and shouted over to Xu Que.
"Thats very funny. A mere worm like yourself wants to trick us into leaving?"
"Come on, were standing here and we shant move as well. Command your beasts to attack us."
"Thats right. Come, I shant budge an inch. If I were to move, I shall call you my grandpa."
"? ? ?"
Looking at the group of cultivators down below acting like this, Xu Que looked extremely uncertain as many question marks formed in his head!

"Kid, I have to admit that your deceptive tools were done up very well without any flaws. The only thing you did wrong here was to underestimate Elder Lius perception and ability to see through deception.
"Watch how I destroy your joke of an illusion!"
A disciple was anxious about showing off and impressing the elders. He summoned his flying sword and charged straight at the oncoming vermillion sparrow.
Although the vermillion sparrow was indeed made out light and thus had no corporeal body, the flames on its body were actually real.
Those were the flames of the vermillion sparrow!
Even if the flames were not actually as powerful as those of an actual vermillion sparrow, it was still definitely not something this little cultivator can handle.

The sound of the green dragon roaring from the east was audible throughout the entire area.

Following the rumble of thunder, a huge bolt of lightning struck down upon the water, causing many disciples who were drenched in water to fry as they got electrocuted.
"Ding! Congratulations to host Xu Que for successfully killing a Foundation Building Stage cultivator. The reward is 8,000 experience points."

An entire string of notifications beeped in Xu Ques head, causing him to smile out in happiness.
So it seemed like killing people by using the spell can earn experience points as well!
Also, he managed to increase in level so quickly. He felt extremely good about it.
Xu Que then felt that purchasing this particular spell was extremely worth it.
At the same time, there was a moment of chaos before several shadows broke through the crowd and fled into the forest.
Those shadows belonged to the Golden Core Stage sect elders.
Their cultivation levels were anything but ordinary. However, with the vermillion sparrow and the green dragon roaming the skies, they didnt dare to ride their flying swords. They then activated their highly proficient physical abilities as they attempted to flee.

He then activated his Lightning Haste and picked up speed to chase after the elders.

In just the span of several breaths, Xu Que managed to overtake and stand in the way of several elders. He faced them and smiled.
"My fellow Daoist friends, you're really dishonest. Didn't you say that you would stand still and allow me to attack? Why did you go back on your words then?"
These few elders had witnessed Xu Ques movement techniques and weren't exactly taken aback by it.
"Good, little bastard. There's a nice path for you to walk towards heavens and yet you chose to barge through the doorless realms of hades."
Just now while you were hiding behind your protective screen, we couldn't do anything to you. Now that you've come out and delivered yourself to us to die, it looks like we just have to oblige you.
The few of them laughed out loud as an elder casted a spell. From behind, a flying sword charged towards Xu Que with unbelievable speed that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.
Xu Que could feel a chill ran down his spine. Such insane speed surpassed his imagination.
Even without thinking, the Lightning Haste came alive beneath his feet, causing him to dodge the sword narrowly.

The rest of the elders didn't slow down as they continued to pursue Xu Que atop their flying swords.
After a short while, Xu Que was beyond vexed.
Indeed, he had severely underestimated the strengths of the Golden Core Stage elder and was almost killed by the flying sword but that didn't mean that he couldn't win them.

The awe inspiring and formidable aura of the dragons could be felt as it filled the entire area.
Several sect elders recoiled in fear and assumed the disturbance to be caused by the green dragon from the protective screen. However, it didn't take long for them to realize that something wasn't quite right. Why were there nine dragons now? And why were they blue?
In the next moment, everyone was dumbfounded.
Nine blue gigantic dragons circled the air once before charging towards Xu Que as they swirled around his head.
A loud boom rang out. They previously perceived Xu Que as imperfect and weak yet he had just exhibited powers so amazing and frightening. In a split second, he resembled the son of dragons as he looked down upon them from above like a superior being.
The dragon aura which he wore around his head was so powerful that he caused severe headaches to several cultivators around.
"Hows that possible?"
"What What spell is that?"
"Can there really be such a strange spell in this world?"
Several elders shouted out in fear as they struggled to believe their own eyes.
Xu Que laughed out loudly, "Haha! You wish to combine strength and kill me? Come on! I wish to take on ten of you together."
As he finished speaking, his body moved in a blur as he activated the Three Thousand Volt Lightning, charging down towards the cultivators.
"Oh no. Run!"
The face of the elders turned drastically, as they made a bid to flee.
Within a short frame of time, the roles had been reversed. The hunter was now the prey.
However, Xu Ques movement speed was so quick that even cultivators in the Golden Core Stages couldnt match up to him. Especially since he had the Lightning Haste which originated from its destruction of the blue dome of heaven.
Whoosh!
Following the buzz of several electric arcs, Xu Ques shadow appeared behind an elder. With his fist clenched into a ball, he struck.
"Pu!"
The punch was so powerful that his fist sunk deep into the elders chest as fresh blood splashed all over.
"Ding! Congratulations to host Xu Que for killing one Golden Core Stage cultivator. The reward is 50,000 experience points and a single golden core."
"Congratulations to host Xu Que for successfully gaining a level. The current cultivation level is Core Bearing Stage Level 3."
Damn, looks like I leveled up again!
And I even managed to acquire a golden core.

However, after fleeing for a short period of time, Elder Lius expression fell as he opened his eyes wide and shouted out, "Oh no! The mountainous roads ahead are being obstructed by the black turtle! We cannot get past it!"
"What?"
The few of them started to feel anxious.
If a person wasnt able to win a fight, he would just flee. At this point, even the option to flee was being taken away.
Could it really be that after several hundred years of diligent cultivation, it was all going to end today?
"No. That little rascal is just a mere Core Bearing Stage cultivator. Ive waited and cultivated for so long to become a Golden Core Stage cultivator and finally became an elder of my sect. I must not perish to his hands!" An elder bellowed out after being forced into the corner as he exploded in fury, convincing himself not to give up.
The rest of them seemed to snap back as they recovered some stability to their emotions and thoughts.
"Thats right. That little bastard could suddenly increase his strengths. Im certain that it must have something to do with a secret spell. As long as we drag it out so that his body and core energy cannot handle the prolonged stress of the spell, we should be able to kill him after."
"But his speed is so quick. We cannot drag him out for long."
"Thats right. This kid is doing all these to protect the villagers of Pan Shan Village. As long as we control the lives of those mortals, hes doomed."
"So the villagers of Pan Shan Village are his weaknesses. Come, lets go. We can combine our efforts and strike. No matter how fast he moves, hes still alone after all. Lets see how many people he can rescue."
The few of them were the sect elders from different sects and were renowned in their own rights. They were all experienced, wise and crafty. The minute they found a way out, they stepped atop their flying swords and dashed down towards Pan Shan Village from different directions.
Xu Que noticed their sudden change in action and was astonished. Soon after, his lips curled into a smile.
"Looks like this bunch of people arent stupid as well. They actually thought of using the villagers to put me in a tight spot."
"Such a shame The Four Direction Desolation spell already killed so many people just because they were close to it. Now that youre thinking of breaking through it, isnt that suicide? But thats good for me as well. It saves me the trouble of hunting each one of you down."

Elder Lius face contorted in ugly anger, "Everyone, please dont be anxious. Hes trying to agitate us to go back and fight with him. At this point, the four legendary beasts are already outside of the protective spell. That means that the spell is at its weakest point. As long as he charge straight for Pan Shan Village, that little bastard would have to kneel down and kowtow to save his villagers life.
Xu Que was just behind them, listening to Elder Liu speak.
This Elder Liu is truly a "genius"!
To be honest, if Elder Liu wasnt present to mix, stir bullshit,and haphazardly make wrong guesses, Xu Que wouldnt have been so successful in his plans today.

After hearing this, Elder Liu and the rest of them were astounded as their expressions took a great turn.
After seeing Xu Que summon the horrifying "Soaring Dragon Nine Transformations", everyone was already tense and severely afraid of this man.
"I was right. The villagers on Pan Shan Village is his weakness. If not, he wouldnt be angry that we arent chasing him any longer and are heading for the village now. Lets rush onwards!" Elder Liu gave a loud shout as the rest of the elders increased their speed while they charge towards Pan Shan Village.
They were extremely clear that once they capture the villagers and use them as hostages, they would be able to control Xu Que.

Xu Que watched on contentedly as they seemed determine to head towards their death. After hearing the message ring out within his head from the system, he started to wear an expression of exasperation as he chased after them, all the while extremely happy deep down.
In the breaths of a several seconds, Elder Liu and the rest of the elders were heading fast towards Pan Shan Village.
As they glared at the protective screen of light, they sped up instead of slowing down, rushing straight into it as they casted protective and offensive spells.
"Boom!"
Wraps of fire circled the elders bodies. With a wave of their hands, a long stream of fire emanated from their hands as it shot towards the protective screens.
"Once were in, capture those mortals and hold them hostage. Lets go!" Elder Liu led the charge as he waved his hands and shouted. It was a formidable sight.
The rest of the elders following behind him revealed cold laughters. They were already imagining using the lives of the villagers to threaten and blackmail Xu Que. With the villagers, they could subject him to insurmountable abuse and torture.
Xu Que was following closely behind when he stopped all of a sudden. With a cheeky smile, he waved his hands and shouted out aloud, "Balding old men, safe journeys! I hope you get reincarnated to a good life, I shant see you off then."
The few elders were stumped.

What did that kid say? Safe journeys?

After the few elders were taken to be trespassers and hostile people, they were swallowed by the protective spell. Instantly, they could see everything warp and distort around them before eventually settling down into a desolate land.
They were trapped within an illusory realm as their mortal bodies were being taken captive by the protective shield. Thus, they were stripped off of all other powers and forced to linger along the desolate plains as mere mortals.
There were extremely hot and dry deserts, in addition to swamps housing thousands of poisonous animals. There was also a snowy and frozen area, upon which only hunger and cold were present
But everything was just an illusion!
The old elders were being taken captives by the protective enchantments. In the illusory realms, their aged bodies were stripped off of their powers and cultivation efforts. Instantly, the toll of their ages came back to them all at once as they were unable to sustain the torment.
Even before they could reach the third area of desolation, their spirits were vanquished and destroyed. With a dong they all collapsed to their deaths and ceased to exist!
