Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: A Special Foe

The steps coming from the small forest area gradually became louder and louder, until a goblin

with a black hood and a sharp dagger burst out of the forest, attacking Ken. He was surprised,

not expecting this type of speed from the goblin. He just about moved out of the dagger's

direction in time but it left a shallow cut on his cheek.

With no time to recover, the goblin grabbed another dagger from its waist, but this one was

different. It had a peculiar glow to it, along with some odd writing inscribed on it. Ken sensed a

great danger emanating from it and jumped back as far as he could while pulling out both of his

daggers.

"That weapon it's holding... why is it making me so anxious..."

Sirus had figured it out, and from far behind, he shouted to Ken.

"Ken, watch out! It's an enchanted dagger! There's no telling what kind of abilities it possesses!"

Sirus then whispered to himself, "How can it be possible for a monster like that to get their hands

on a weapon specifically made for humans... no ordinary person would be carrying a weapon like

that. Those are worth at least 500 pieces of gold."

Ken looked back at Sirus and said, "You should get back; things might get serious here."

Sirus nodded and got onto his horse, riding further away from the commotion.

"Thanks for the help Sirus, now I know not to underestimate this goblin. Everything's getting

weirder and weirder. First of all, there are way too many goblins situated in this area than there

should be. Second, I never knew goblins as fast and smart as these existed, and lastly, there's no

general around here..."

Ken enveloped his entire body in electricity. This energy was the same energy he used when he

fought with Cra. Ken smiled at the goblin and said, "I don't plan on holding back against a

dangerous opponent like you. So be prepared to give it your all, before I kill you."

Sirus hid behind a rock, far away from the fight. He couldn't quite hear what Ken was saying, but

he was shocked to see that Ken was holding back this much power.

"What's with that goblin, I've never seen one like that in their species... could it be?"

Sirus started to piece things together. From being a merchant, he had heard a lot of rumours.

One specifically had to do with goblins.

"What was it again? That's right, goblin assassins! Rumours of the goblin species evolving, it's

something you wouldn't believe unless you witness it, but most that have died, could this be it? If

the rumours were true, that would mean..."

Ken got ready to attack, and just as he was about to dash forward, another goblin snuck up

behind him preparing to strike. It was at that moment that he heard a loud voice screech

throughout the entire forest.

"KEN, BEHIND YOU!"

After hearing that, Ken didn't even need to look back. Trusting Sirus's voice, he let out a

discharge of electricity, setting up a forcefield around himself. It cut off the goblin's hand, with its

weapon falling onto the floor. The goblin clutched its wrist, screaming in agony. Ken had a

menacing look, angered by the fact that they were able to get this close to him.

"You almost got me... but that's the last chance you'll ever have at killing me because you die

here."

Ken turned around, cleanly slashing the goblin's head off with a straight face and striking fear

into the one standing far away. It trembled, thinking Ken would come after it next. The goblin

dropped the enchanted dagger and ran back, tripping and falling. It got back up on its feet only

to see Ken standing directly in front of it.

"You seriously thought you could run after trying to kill me? Your time has come to an end."

Ken sliced through the goblin, cutting it in half.

[Back at the training grounds]

Zad and Elias prepared for a two versus two battle against Thane and Fern. Zad tried to start a

conversation with Elias, but he had no intention on hearing what Zad had to say. He just averted his

attention away from Zad every time.

"Look, Elias. I don't know what you have against me, but if we're going to win, we need to work together. That means we need to come up with a plan."

Elias finally turned his attention back to Zad squaring up to him. His eyes were as cold as ever, the look he gave of showed he despised every single thing about Zad.

"Don't act like I don't know who you are. You and every single person like you is corrupt. Just

because you're born into a special family, you do whatever you like, you don't have to work hard,

train hard, or anything like that, isn't that right Mr Noble?"

Zad's eyes widened, and he said, "Wait, why do you know something like that!?"

"That necklace you're trying so hard to hide, it indicates you're a noble from Athalion. Don't act so

surprised either, Thane and Fern might treat you as an ally. Just know I absolutely despise you

people."

"You're right... the things some nobles do are wrong, but don't associate me with the likes of them!

That's the reason why I left my home and decided to adventurer out, to help those people in need

and be known as a knight, not a noble!"

Hearing those words come from Zad, enraged Elias even more, but he decided to keep it in.

"You can try and run from you're position as much as you want, but it won't ever change the fact

that you'll still always be one of them."

Zad was speechless, he stood in silence, as Elias walked away.

"Like I said earlier, don't hold me back."
