Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Peerless Grace in a Worthless Body (Part 1)

"Come out!"

A cold and clear voice, filled with a strong warning.

Mu Ge casually grabbed her dirty clothes, draping them over her body to cover her delicate skin.

She didn't know how she appeared to others under the effect of the Illusionary Artifact, but she certainly couldn't let herself be exposed, could she? Ensuring she wasn't exposed, Mu Ge adjusted her position towards the direction where the strange fragrance wafted in.

The cold moon had just set, and the proud sun had yet to rise.

It was the darkest time, with the only light source being the returning fireflies' glow.

The crystal-clear green light, usually eerie, now made Mu Ge's cleansed face appear dreamlike and fantastic.

Strictly speaking, Mu Qingge's body didn't suffer any substantial harm due to the desperate protection of those five hundred soldiers. The bone-cracking pain Mu Ge felt upon waking was mainly due to being crushed at the bottom.

Thus, Mu Qingge's real cause of death was due to excessive protection, suffocating under the pile. Of course, without these protectors, Mu Qingge wouldn't have escaped death, but the death would have been more tragic.

After a brief recovery, Mu Ge felt the discomfort within her gradually fading. She focused on the depths of the reeds, the area from where the strange fragrance emanated, with purple light swirling between her palms, accompanied by the 'buzz' of electrical currents.

"Ha, such a Lower Realm actually has a Thunder Spirit Root."

Suddenly, an extremely soft, slow, and gentle, yet incredibly pleasing male voice drifted over. Within that voice, there seemed a hint of surprise, perhaps curiosity, and even... Mu Ge could detect a trace of intriguing amusement.

Mu Ge's eyes slightly narrowed, filled with vigilance.

She didn't understand what was meant by 'Lower Realm' or 'Thunder Spirit Root' in this voice. She only knew that the power she used was the Thunder Ability that had followed her since her previous life.

"Come out!" Focusing on the reeds floating in the night breeze, Mu Ge furrowed her brows slightly, issuing another warning.

Unfortunately, her warning was ignored once again.

The mere sound gave a sense of nobility, and the ethereal presence spoke again: "Pity, even with a Thunder Spirit Root, this useless body cannot cultivate."

Though speaking of a pity, Mu Ge did not hear any regret in the voice. The only thing she could deduce was that she seemed to be treated as an object to be bargained over.

Crack!

The sound of grinding teeth was conspicuously audible in the silence.

Clearly, the condescending attitude of the other party enraged Mu Ge.

Even to the point that she temporarily ignored what 'useless body' meant.

Of course, wasn't this Mu Ge's pride? She didn't need to prove to anyone whether she was useless; she knew clearly she was not.

Wasn't the dozen people she killed on that desolate battlefield at dusk the best proof?

"Haha, the little thing is angry?" The sound of teeth grinding reached the person's ears, but it seemed to only please him.

"Coward hiding his head and showing his tail." In an instant, the anger provoked in Mu Ge subsided, and she gave a disdainful snort, similarly offering a contemptuous appraisal.

The voice was silent for a moment, then burst into a hearty laugh: "I've been here all the time, yet you couldn't see me, and you blame me instead. Interesting, truly interesting."

Here all the time?!

Mu Ge was startled, her eyes calmly searching again.

Yet, in her line of sight, apart from the waves of reeds gently swaying, there was only the stream beneath her. And the voice, clearly coming from the depths of the reeds, along with the unusual fragrance that still lingered at her nose, stubbornly refusing to disperse.
