Zes's P.O.V
I was woken up by a loud freaking bang on my door, which made me and Wiskey jump on the bed. I groaned loudly.
My eyes snap open when I hear a whimper from Wiskey. I quickly get up.
"Wiskey, baby, you okay?"I asked him while placing him on my lap from the bed.
"Who the hell is that?" I yelled, petting Wiskey.
"Fucking open the door, Zes!" Mae yelled back.
"Language, young lady! Language!" I scolded her while placing Wiskey on the bed.
I walked towards the door and opened it. I wasn't surprised to be greeted by a tired-looking Mae.
"Please enlighten me, how come you look so put together for someone answering the door? Maybe I should braid my hair before bed," Mae said with her usual bored expression.
"Why are you here again ?" I asked her.
"Wanted to ask you...." She started and looked like she was trying to recall something. I guess she forgot whatever she wanted to say.
"Wanted to..?" I asked again.
"Oh, yes, I remember." Mae smiled. "Today is your birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA," She said excitedly while hugging me.
"Oh, you remember?! Anyway, thanks," I replied while hugging her back.
"Ok, why did you come to my house this early though, cause you didn't come to just wish me, did you ?" I asked.
"I need help in choosing a dress for today," she said while scratching her neck.
"Of course you do," I said, grinning.
"What would you do without me ?" I asked her, smirking.
"I would have stayed home and slept more," she said with a 'duh' face. I returned her a glare.
"OK, whatever," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Go get ready quickly, you need to get ready and help me get ready. The party starts at 4:00 PM, and now it is 12 noon," she said while taking her phone out of her ripped jeans.
"Ok, loser," I mumbled.
I took a quick shower and walked into my closet, and chose white ripped jeans with a black turtle neck t-shirt and a faux collar dark blue denim jacket. I did light makeup and left my hair loose. I walked to my study table and took my phone, and shoved it in my pocket. I walked over to Mae and pulled her out of my room, and closed the door.
"Enough, young lady! Come, let's go!" I say while snatching her phone away.
We were greeted by my mum and dad.
"Happy birthday, baby girl!" my dad wishes me with a hug.
"Thanks, Dad, I Love You," I said, hugging him back.
"Happy Birthday, Zes," my mum wishes with a kiss on my cheek.
"Thanks, mum, love you," I said, returning her a kiss.
"Where are you guys going?" my dad asked me.
"Helping Mae with her dress for today," I replied with a smile. He nods.
I ate some fruit and headed to the door with Mae. Her house was close by. After we reached, we headed straight to her room. Surprisingly, no one was in her house. Probably her dad is patrolling, and her mum is taking care of the decorations as usual.
"Zes, why can't I come in jeans?" She asked for the 5th time today.
"NO," I said in a stern voice.
I went over to her closet. Seeing her closet made me almost faint. Will it kill her to keep her clothes folded?! I groaned, which made Mae chuckle, which slowly turned to laughter. I waited for her to stop, but nope, she didn't, so I joined in.
Mae likes loose clothes and is not a fan of dresses. But I had managed to get her some dresses and heels, the ones she is comfortable with of course. I sighed. Since she doesn't wear dresses, those are neatly hung up, so I quickly chose her a dress.
This was a sleeveless low backed lavender to violet to silver gradient dress. This dress was supported by a gold string that goes around the neck supporting the dress. The top is well fitted with a fitted waist. Gold lines, flower embroidered ran along the waist of the dress along the free-flowing bottom of the gown.
I applied light makeup for her and helped her get into her dress. It was 1:30. I started putting her hair into a high, loose bun, letting some of her light brown hair strands fall along her face and neck.
She wore the purple stone long earrings. I made her wear silver heels.
"Damnnn, you look hot, babe. I wonder who helped you?" I asked her with a smirk.
"Oh, shut up! I know I look hot, thanks, Zes." She thanked me.
"I gotta go, Mae, I will see you at the party," I said as I looked at the time. It was 1:45, she nodded.
I walked to my house and went to my room. I need to get ready, it will take forever to choose the dress now. When I entered my room, there was a dress on my bed, so my mum got me a dress, huh?? She saved my life, thanks, mom.
The dress was amazing, it was silver and hugged every curve perfectly. It was a satin mermaid style dress with a halter neckline. The top was covered with silver glitter, and a strip of silver glittered cloth ran from the waist to the bottom.
I did my makeup and braided my hair, which took some time. I braided it into a half-crown braid and leaving some hair to fall freely
I wore diamond earrings and silver crystal heels. After I got ready, I looked at the time, it was 3:30. I walked downstairs to see my dad in a suit and my mom in a beautiful black long-sleeve tassel dress. I smiled at them and hugged them.
"You look gorgeous, birthday girl!" my dad cooed.
"You look hot, honey," my mom said and kissed my cheek.
"Thanks, Dad and Mom," I replied.
We all walked together to the ballroom, where the party was organized, which was on the top floor of the packhouse. Many pack members wished me. The party was normal in every sense, but until a scent hit me. Mint and rose !!!! MATE !!!!!!! Zene was howling in joy!!
I quickly follow the scent. Yes, the scent is a weird combo, but it was intoxicating. I wonder who it is? Will he reject me? I was cut off in my thoughts by bumping into someone. The Scent!!! It's my MATE!!!
"MATEE!!!!" I growled and hugged him.
"MATE," he said with a husky voice, and inhaled my scent. I also do the same and smile.
I look up to see Knox's smiling face. My face fell instantly.
"You look disappointed there, mate..." Knox frowned.
"n-"I was cut off by a blonde who came and kissed Knox.
"Hey, handsome," she says.
I stared at them as she held onto his shoulder. I turned around and walked away towards the balcony. Fresh air, that's all I need. I need to calm down. I shut out Zene so I could think.
"Zes, you have the wrong idea," I hear a voice.
I turn to see Knox looking with a frown.
"I forgot," I start.
"Forgot what?" He asked.
"Your million flings," I say, my voice void of any emotion; it wasn't a question.
"Zes, I haven't! For about two years, I did not get into any sort of relationships, and that girl came out of nowhere. I don't even know her! I didn't kiss her back either! Ask anybody if you don't believe me," He pleaded.
"I don't know... I am sorry, your reputation precedes you, and seeing her ticked me off." I apologised.
"Zes, I would never hurt you! I have known you are my mate for quite some time, and I just wanted you to find out. I wouldn't be flirting with you if you weren't the mate I mentioned." Knox said.
I turned around and stared at the moon. I do like Knox, for quite some time now, I just kept my distance cause he technically would be my ex's best friend.
"You know? I have always kinda liked you or been attracted to you, but I didn't do anything cause you are my ex's best friend," I said.
"I know, there was this weird attraction between us, and you were dating James, so I kept my distance and distractions," He said, stepping closer to me.
"We fought it for so long, didn't we?" I whispered.
"Yeah, we did. Were you going to reject me back there ?" He asked
"I... don't know, did you think I was?" I asked back.
"You can't answer a question with another question, Zes," He rolled his eyes, stepping closer to me.
"I just did," I grinned as I wrapped my hands around his shoulder.
"Zes, I have a birthday present for you? Do you want to stay over here for the party?" He asked, his hands wrapping around my waist, pulling me closer.
"We could leave. What is my present?" I asked excitedly.
"Its a surprise!" He replied
