What can I say about dock work?
It is honest pay for honest work, when your fellow workers aren't working against you, marking containers you have moved as theirs, or otherwise being buttheads.
In other words, it's not the sort of work most people, honest or not, want.
As implied above, it wasn't that I lacked the muscle, nor the finesse to use it in ways that didn't damage the cargo. <1> Rather, I lacked the people skills.
Specifically, I lacked Union membership (unions are apparently legal in Manora) and wasn't willing to go into debt long enough to join. Manora has some serious laws about people being unable to repay their debts.
