"Kira, wait—!"
Gewen grabbed his wife's arm just in time. Kira's hand was already on the dagger at her hip.
Raphael raised both of his hands in surrender. For the first time since Harlow met him, the Demon King actually looked nervous.
"Lady Kira," he said carefully. "I owe you an apology. A very, very late apology."
"You FROZE me!" Kira snapped. "I was stuck in ice for days! Do you know how cold that was?!"
"I know. I'm sorry." Raphael bowed his head deeply. "You trespassed on the ice castle at a bad time. I was not myself back then. The White Witch's knights reported an intruder and I reacted without thinking. It was wrong of me."
"Damn right it was wrong!"
"Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"
Kira narrowed her eyes. She looked at Raphael for a long time, as if she was calculating how much she could squeeze out of him. She was, after all, the daughter of the most notorious pirate lord in Atlantea.
