Two months had passed, yet it felt like time had barely moved.

Life continued around me—the sun still rose every morning, nights still fell quietly—but inside, I was standing in the same place where everything shattered. Some wounds didn't bleed anymore, but they never truly healed. They just stayed… silent.

"Still no updates on what I asked you to investigate?" I asked Ryker, lifting a bottle of beer and staring at the amber liquid inside it as if it held answers.

We were sitting in the garden of my parents' house. The place was peaceful—too peaceful. The sound of crickets, the soft rustling of leaves, the warm night breeze—it all felt wrong for the kind of thoughts weighing down my chest.

Ryker exhaled slowly and leaned back. "Nothing," he said. "Whoever did it was smart. They made it look like the doctor committed suicide. The case was officially closed."

My jaw clenched. "How could that even happen?"
