Zyron's Pov
Trixy was awake.
The moment I entered her hospital room and saw that her eyes were open, it was as if something inside me had let go. For hours, I had been carrying a heavy weight with me that felt like a stone was tied to my chest, and now—just by witnessing her breathing, seeing her alive—it was as if that heaviness had finally melted away.
Xavier's look was like a burning iron that he was pressing against the side of my face, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of my glance. Not now. Not when Trixy was all I could see.
Auntie Mae caressed her son's arm and said in a low voice, "Let's give them a moment."
Xavier was quick to turn to her. "But Mom—"
"Xavier." She was not inviting any arguments with her tone. "Come."
