Just as I was about to turn around and check if he was still there I heard a knock on the door. The man took a deep breath in and asked why Maria had come back, but to both of our surprises it was another voice.
"I'm sorry to bother you sir but can I talk to you for a little bit? I know it's late but..I didn't want the others to hear. " A familiar voice whispered.
The man waited a second before answering the door as he did I made a fast peek through the opposite side of the painting. The voice both the man and I had just heard, I saw it was Pocket but why?
Pocket entered the room and I quickly pulled my head back around the painting with even more questions in my mind. What was pocket doing up this late? Did he know that I snuck out? And what did he want to talk about with the man?
"So on with it boy" The man said impatiently.
Pocket then asked the man in a serious way if he knew where the clockworks go when they get taken.
The man was silent for a second. Then asked pocket a question of his own.
"Are you a child of metalworks?"
Guessing from the silence I could only assume he nodded.
I watched the wood floor as it distorts in front of me from the lack of sleep, I almost drift off. Their voices warped so I couldn't hear what they were talking about.
They both eventually leave the room, leaving me alone again in the silence. The only noise that could be heard was slight tapping at the window and creaking of the wood in the floor.
I shivered pulling my sleeves down slightly as the night grew colder and my eyes heavier.
It was hard to stay awake, luckily the lady had returned before I drifted off completely. She proseded to guided me back to my bed with the others.
I noticed that Pocket wasn't in his room as I passed by his open door. However I was too tired to worry and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Hopefully my dreams will be more peaceful then the day ahead..
