Chapter 14 - Episode 5: The Fanmeet Fiasco

If Jisoo had a dollar for every time her brother ruined her peace, she could've bought an island, named it Sanity, and retired there forever.

But no, here she was — standing in the middle of a crowded mall surrounded by screaming fans and neon banners that read "WE LOVE JINU 💙" while holding a bag of chicken skewers.

"Why am I here again?" she muttered, eye twitching.

Minji, clutching a signed poster like her life depended on it, squealed,"Because you're his sister! You get VIP access!"

"Yeah, and I also get VIP anxiety," Jisoo grumbled.

Jinu's fanmeet was chaos — a perfect mix of glitter, noise, and dangerously emotional fangirls. He sat on stage, all smiles and charm, signing albums while fans sobbed and declared eternal love.

Jisoo stayed in the back, trying to look invisible. Her hoodie was pulled up, her mask covering half her face, but her size made blending in basically impossible.

"Is that her?" someone whispered."Park Jinu's sister?""She's… big.""Be nice, or she'll lift you like a dumbbell."

Jisoo sighed. Not again.

Halfway through the event, Jinu's manager appeared behind her."Park Jisoo-ssi, the boss wants you on stage."

"Excuse me, what—NO."

But she didn't even have time to protest before she was being gently dragged toward the front.

The host announced,"Everyone! Special surprise guest — Park Jinu's beloved sister, Park Jisoo!"

The crowd collectively gasped.Phones were out. Cameras flashing. Some fans clapped, others whispered nervously, a few gave her death glares sharp enough to cut steel.

Jisoo froze under the lights like a deer caught in fame's headlights.

Jinu grinned the moment he saw her."Ah, my trouble magnet has arrived!"

She stomped over, whispering harshly, "You didn't tell me I'd be summoned like Voldemort!"

He laughed, taking her hand dramatically. "Relax, I just wanted everyone to meet the real star of the news headlines."

The crowd chuckled nervously.

Jisoo gave a weak wave. "Uh… hi. I'm the girl who apparently kidnapped this idiot once."

Laughter erupted.Even the hostile fans snorted.

Jinu leaned toward the mic, smiling warmly."She's my sister — my only sister — and the person who made me braver."

Jisoo blinked in surprise."Since when did I do that?" she muttered.

Jinu winked. "Since you carried me bridal-style in front of 500 people."

The audience roared with laughter again.

But then, a voice from the crowd shouted,"Why are you using her for publicity?!"

Another joined in, "Yeah! Are you pity-promoting your sister now?"

The laughter faded. The air turned sharp.

Jisoo's heart sank. She could handle teasing — but this? She felt her stomach knot, the old insecurity bubbling up again.

Jinu's expression hardened. He stood up, mic still in hand, voice calm but firm.

"She's not my PR stunt. She's my family."

The room fell silent.

"She's the one who supported me when no one believed I could sing. She's the one who stayed up streaming my first debut song when I had zero fans.If you're my fan, then respect her too."

You could hear a pin drop.

Jisoo stood frozen, throat tight. She didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or just melt into the floor.

After the fanmeet, they slipped out through the back exit. The sun was setting, casting orange light across the parking lot.Jinu walked beside her quietly, mask pulled down, smile soft.

"Sorry if I embarrassed you again," he said.

Jisoo shook her head. "You… actually did the opposite this time."

"Shocking, right?" he teased.

She laughed softly. "Don't get used to it."

They stopped by a vending machine. Jinu bought her favorite coffee can and handed it over."You know, people always say I'm confident," he said, staring at the sunset. "But you're the one who keeps showing up even when the world laughs. That's real confidence."

Jisoo blinked. "Wow, that's surprisingly deep for someone who wears eyeliner in the shower."

He burst out laughing. "Hey, it's waterproof!"

They laughed together — genuinely this time — and for once, Jisoo didn't feel like the background character. She felt seen.

That night, she wrote again in her diary.

Day 5: Went to a fanmeet. Didn't die. Got praised by my annoying brother.

Still fat. Still alive. Still embarrassed.

But maybe… a little proud too.

She smiled and added one more line before closing the book.

P.S. — Maybe being Park Jinu's sister isn't a curse after all.
