Ezekiel's breathing remained heavy. Each breath came quicker than the last, his chest rising and falling in an uneven rhythm.
Livius never took his eyes off him. "Come on..." he murmured almost to himself.
A few long seconds passed. Then... The wolf king's breathing gradually slowed. One breath, then another. The tightness in his chest eased little by little until the rapid rise and fall became steady once again.
Livius quietly released the breath he had been holding.
Gandrik lowered his shoulders. "His breathing seemed to be getting normal."
Livius nodded once. "It is."
The two remained watching him for another several moments, making sure it wasn't only temporary.
Nothing changed.
Ezekiel continued breathing normally. Only then did the tension inside the room loosen ever so slightly.
Argon still hadn't returned with the oxygen tank.
Gandrik looked at Ezekiel before another thought surfaced. "Should we give him human blood?"
