Chapter 5 - A Legend in Disguise

The boy named Het came up to Raynard for a basketball battle. "Sure, I don't mind" Raynard answered back to Het's challenge.

It was a 1 on 1 game and a best of 7 shots in. The winner had to have made 7 shots in before the other. Raynard passed the ball with a bounce to Het as a means of starting the game.

Surprisingly This game attracted a lot of bystanders because Het was already known for his good mastery at playing basketball. The staff members, students, and the head of the school all gathered reasonably to watch the two.

"Bro, the new guy is going to be disrespected and taught a life lesson by our champ." Many onlookers started conversing about the expectations and analyzing the game even before it became serious.

Raynard and Het didn't mind or to put it right, hadn't paid attention to what was occurring outside their battle.

Het held the ball with a tormenting look on his face to torment Raynard. What he didn't know is that Raynard had taken advantage of the ignorance of his opponent. Het didn't first take time to think about Raynard's body physic and momentum from the start.

The school's coach noticed what was happening and gulped in a mouthful. "Het, today you're going finished by a newcomer. I hope you comprehend" the coach muttered to himself.

As Het had started to dribble the ball, he charged straight forward for the hoop. "He expects to use his speed and a sharp ball dribble skill on me. What a kid" Raynard sighed.

In a blink of an eye, Raynard had prosecuted a very speedy attack on Het's charge. It was so fast that after Raynard hit the ball out of his hands, he dribbles the ball and hits it 8 meters up out of reach from Het's glance.

Raynard stood straight and looked at Het who looked puzzled as he tried scanning around the court for the ball in vain. He felt all his pride and strength leaving his body. This made him feel so down that he barely made it off the court before being fifteen minutes in the game. All the spectators went blank.

As the ball pulled down towards Raynard, slightly away from the center of the court, he threw it professionally, and it went straight in the net. Onlookers went blank and silent since their only champ was solemnly ashamed. If it was Raynard, they were ready to laugh their lungs out.

Raynard left the court as he noticed the glances of the spectators, though he loved to stay behind and talk to Het about the game played.

Everyone present looked at Raynard slowly disappearing to the dormitories as their eyes turned to Het, they left the court too in embarrassment. some were in shock, others curious about Raynard especially the girls. Most wanted to know more about him including the headmaster.

Raynard felt bad as he didn't get to play a good game. Hardly did he notice that he had become a school's superstar in a blink of an eye. In a second, rumors had spread in girls' dormitories, school campus, and within the teachers.

It was evening and time for supper. He went for his cubicle and found his roommates ready to move out. He got out his plate from his suitcase and strolled out with his friends.
