In the middle of it all, one figure stood tall, unyielding, fighting wave after wave of enemies. His flesh tore, bones broke, yet every wound closed as quickly as it came. He was the wall that held the line, the unkillable bulwark.
Emery saw through his eyes as the final ship broke through the encirclement and vanished into the sky. A quiet relief filled that fading soul.
