As Eun Ae got on the vehicle, she felt her breath become heavier with every second. This was the first time for her to be so close to a male. She was so nervous that beads of sweat started appearing on her forehead. She looked down at the boy who was busy licking the lollipop, that was given to him by her in the bus earlier to make him stop crying. She thought about how Soo Aha had forced her to keep these candies with herself so as to ease her nerves by eating some sweet or else it's not like Eun Ae has a sweet tooth or something like that.
She was thinking about asking the kid's name from him, but dropped this idea after thinking about the man infront, who was driving the vehicle right now. The overall ride was awkward because of the silence preceding over. Eun Ae just kept the look out on the footpaths while passing by just in case to spot the granny quickly, who would surely be walking around by now. The small kid seemed to notice her efforts and thought about helping her out in this work.
After a while, when they were getting near their current destination, they finally spotted the old granny running around in distress and panic. She was catching the bypassers on the footpath and speaking something to them with despair written on her aged face. Actually it was the little boy who recognised her at the first glance and then patted Eun Ae's lap with little force to get her attention while pointing at someone with his other hand.
Eun Ae soon realised that they had found the granny successfully and was about to ask the helmet man to stop but it was too late, as they passed the granny and created a big distance between themselves.
"Hey! Wait-stop...we have found her!" Eun Ae said in a panicked tone urging the man to stop.
Though, Eun Ae said it in a relatively low voice, due to their close proximity that man still heard her and quickly stopped the motorcycle. Eun Ae got up from her seat hurriedly and was about to run in the direction of the granny with the kid in her arms when she suddenly stood still, as if she remembered something important, then she when to the delivery boy and rummaged some money in her handbag. After taking out the money she held it infront of that man, though the expressions of that man were hidden by helmet, through his silence anyone can guess that he was confused and dumbfounded. Eun Ae felt like she should explain her action and said in monotone "I don't like to owe anyone, this money is equivalent to what I would have given to a taxi driver"
After hearing her, the man was amused and laughed a squeaky laugh which was bright and pleasant and made Eun Ae feel dazed but she failed to notice the undertone monking in his laughter which meant something like 'as if I need your money!'
After the fit of laughter, the man said "I don't need it. I helped you because I wanted to, you don't need to pay me for that"
Eun Ae was not convinced by his words and said " Take it. It's the cost of helping me and this kid." to explain her insistence she added " I am a person who is bound to my principles and the way I think it, even if you were helping me, I would still owe you and as the time passes your debet would get bigger and bigger, at the time of payback maybe I won't be able to handle the burden of the debet, so please take it".
The man naturally understood what Eun Ae was saying. According to EunAe she would face a big problem in the future if she doesn't settle the accounts right now, fate is the thing that no one can control, it rules are 'if you help someone, someone will help you. If someone helps you, you will have to help someone and repay the debet. It's just that, even fate has learned to put the interest on the debet hence as the time passes the debet gets bigger and harder to pay so paying it off quickly is a suitable method'. The man rolled his eyes under his helmet and exclaimed in his heart 'fu*k! Why is this lady so righteous? Does she wants me to bow in front of her?' but after a moment his eyes started gleaming with mischievous light, his mouth formed a small smirk on his pink soft lips.
He said " I don't want money, I have that in plenty. Can you give me something else?"
After hearing this, Eun Ae looked at him suspiciously and thought 'isnt he just a delivery boy? Why is he saying that he have plenty of money? Maybe he want to say that he is self sufficient?'.
She asked him in a low voice "What do you want?"
The man smiled at her innocent look and said "I want to befriend you. After we become friends I will think that your debet is paid off."
Eun Ae decisively rejected him off and said that she doesn't have a hobby of becoming a friend with a stranger. The man wasn't surprised by her rejection and thought for a while and then firmly said " Okay then, if you want to pay the debet then treat me to a meal" Eun Ae was going to deny this suggestion as well when that man added " If you say no to this, then just forget about paying off your debet"
Eun Ae felt anxious by his demand but thought that it's only a one time thing and agreed. Hence, both of them shared their phone numbers so that they can contact and set the date for the meal which would be convenient for both.
When Eun Ae was about to go she heard the man ask her " By the way, were you going to participate in the interview of Eternal wings today?". He has already guessed that when he met her because she kept glancing many time in the direction of company when she was finding a taxi earlier. Eun Ae confirmed his thought by saying 'yes' It wasn't a personal secret anyways.
Then the man glanced at the kid and said with a playful smile " Don't you think that this kid owes me for my help as well?"
When Eun Ae heard him, she thought his words made sense but said that the kid has nothing on him which he can use to pay off the debet. To this the man replied and said in a humorous tone " I want the candy he is holding in his other hand. The kid doesn't need to pay me money". The man gave a dismissive wave of his hand after saying this as if he was being magnanimous.
Eun Ae on the other hand was horrified and disgusted with him. She thought 'What a shameless man! How can he ask a small boy to give him his candy? I was thinking earlier that he is a reasonable person but he is more childish than an elementary kid hump!"
The kid who was listening to their conversation immediately understood what they were saying and held out the another candy to the man to take without a cry of protest. He was really a smart kid. Seeing this scene Eun Ae felt that it was unbearable and stopped the kid.
Then she looked at the man and said in contempt " I was the one who gave him candy. I still have some with myself and will give you in his stead." She took out some candies from her bag and handed it to the man with a distorted expression.
Seeing Eun Ae's reaction, that man smiled even more and took the candies as he said lazily "Don't you think that the kid owes you too?"
Eun Ae thought about it and became angry at his words, she thought that the man was monking her principles by saying these things. She was about to burst from anger but controlled herself and said " No, he doesn't. It was my fault in this whole incident, it happened because of my carelessness! So it's my duty to help him."
The man replied with an 'ohhh' in his lazy tone and said " Then hurry and go to the granny or else you won't be able to find her if you keep wasting your time chatting here." After hearing his words Eun Ae felt that she was going to faint from anger. She had never met a man who is this shameless in her entire life! She stomped her foot in rage and started running towards the granny with the kid.
The man was looking at her intently and after some thought, he made a phone call. After talking on the phone for a while he ended it and smirked while thinking 'I will let you owe me more. I will make sure to increase this debet and then I would like to see how you will pay it off' The more he thought about it the more deeper his smile became.
