Young's pov
Early in the morning I called up the two idiots I call my friends. Being under cover meant that I had to at least try and blend in, even if I was a demigod on a mission.
Once again, Damn Eros.
I heard one of my friends fighting over bills with his wife. And the other was busy babysitting his first child.
"hello? .....guys.....i need your full attention here".
Min Ho, a beloved father of two turned to the screen.
"Look Young, I'm tied up with daddy duties at the moment but I would be honoured to FaceTime some other time", he said in a very sarcastic voice.
Seo Joon, the stingy one arguing with his wife over bills turned to me in the middle of his banter with Ae Ra, his partner.
"Bro, I need to handle this so can we talk about your Puppy later?. okay?"
I shook my head at them and immediately cut the connection. Thoughts plagued my mind, many being about the confusion I was feeling about whether or not I was ready to move on to the next stage of love.
Sassy love.
Puppy had been given hints for the past 2weeks that she was ready to go to stage 2, try something a little bit more physical other than the occasional sweet kisses and hugs. She wanted some sort of physical attachment that only sassy love offered.
But I wasn't ready, I will never be ready because this is all a farce. I wasn't in love with her. All this was Eros' idea to begin with and I was supposed to make Woo Bin jealous but after this long I was beginning to doubt if that will ever happen.
The guy hadn't so much as bothered to check up on Puppy after he heard that we had been dating. I doubted if he felt any sort of admiration whatsoever for Puppy like Eros had assumed.
This could really go wrong because things are starting to get very complicated. Puppy, Eros' devotee was really happy and I think she's sincerely in love with me. Problem is I'm not even an earthling, what do they call it again?, erhm human. I could be summoned by Poseidon anytime and I would have no choice but to suddenly disappear without a word.
I quickly decided to sneak back into Olympus and talk it out with Eros. Perhaps if we stop this now, we can avoid all the possible unwanted casualties including hurting Puppy.
Closing my eyes, I imagined Mount Olympus and then called Eros with my inner voice. To anyone else passing by at that moment, I would look like I was praying.
After a while, I was summoned and I disappeared instantly.
Meanwhile, Puppy knocked on Young's door excitedly. She had just been informed that they had won a free couple dinner and she wanted to share it with him.
When no one answered, she pulled the handle slowly and allowed herself into his room.
She headed towards the bedroom first because she assumed that he was still in bed. But when she didn't find him there, she assumed he was in the bathroom and decided to wait it out for him.
Minutes later, when he didn't emerge from there either, she knocked on the bathroom door and entered when no answer came. Again he wasn't there.
Perhaps he had an early start so he could work out. An hour later, there was still no sign of Young.
Perhaps he passed by a grocery store after his jog and will be back soon. Another hour passed and Young was still not back.
Puppy began to grow restless and her mind conjured up images of everything and anything horrible that could happen to a person. Anything could have happened to him, she thought
First her mind conjured up images of him being ran over by a trailer truck. Then of him being kidnapped and gagged. All these images floated around her head till she frustratedly decided to call his friends, Min Ho and Seo Joon.
"I think something happened to Jin Young", she practically hyperventilated on the phone at the thought.
"What happened?"
"he's not in his room", she answered quickly.
"perhaps he's gone out"
"I thought so too, but I've waited for 12 hours and he's still not back". Okay, that was an extreme exaggeration.
"have you tried calling his phone?"
"No", she said again.
"Okay, calm down and try to call him instead. Call us back if anything happens"
After that conversation, Puppy hanged up and immediately began to call Young's phone.
After 6 tries, she still got the same repetitive voicemail message.
Frustrated, she screamed and threw her phone against the wall. She immediately regretted her actions when she saw the phone shattered into pieces on the floor.
Puppy plopped down on the bed and sighed. Suddenly she felt something vibrate near her bottom and immediately stood up. She felt around the bedsheets for the object and came up with Young's phone.
It was Woo Bin calling.
Why would Woo Bin call Young?.
She answered immediately and before she could say a simple hello, she heard his slurry voice on the other end of the line.
"I love her", he whispered in a tiny voice.
"I love Pil Suk a lot", he continued.
Pil Suk?
Puppy thought, trying to recollect if she knew anyone by that name.
And then she did, she remembered that she was the only Pil Suk that she knew.
And only Woo Bin called her by that name. Her real name.
Kim Pil Suk.
She sighed in annoyance at his behaviour.
"Yah, Kim Woo Bin!", she shouted. "if you get drunk, don't call my boyfriend to say nonsense"
And then she cut the call. She hadn't even given it a thought that Woo Bon coukd have been drunkenly confessing his feelings, feelings he will never be able to confess if he's sober.
"but its not nonsense, I do sincerely love her. I just realised it too late", Woo Bin muttered into his phone unaware that the call had already been ended. He sulked at his image in the mirror he was sitting in front of and allowed his head to fall on to his knees which were folded under his chin.
Love is indeed complicated and painful.
