Chapter 93 - SHAWNEY SLIPPED AWAY QUIETLY

 SHAWNEY SLIPPED AWAY QUIETLY

While everyone was in the dining room, Shawney slipped away quietly after making the final arrangement with the travel agent. Shawney knew Torren needed to mend his problem in his home. And if he goes with her to Chicago, then it will just worsen the situation.

When Liz feeds the children, then takes them to the playroom, the others just continue sittingand watching Torren.

Reaching the airport after nine, confirming Torren and the children's flight on the eighteenth. Hearing they are asking those who are taking the eleven-thirty flight to check in. Shawney didn't hesitate, not thinking twice and checked in her luggage.

At eight forty-five, the phone rang. Train, who sat silently, looking on as everyone kept watch on Torren, hurried to answer. Hearing that the factory was on fire, he rushed to share the news with Torren Carl and Jeff.

Reaching the factory at nine-thirty, the fire was already doused out. Seeing that there wasn't much damage done to the clothes.

Torren toured the area, observing that a huge part of the building had been damaged, and they had to secure the factory, which took a few hours.

Reaching home after three in the morning, tired and frustrated, Torren didn't go to his room, not wanting Shawney to see him so frustrated. He lay down on the couch and fell asleep.

Train work up after eight, going downstairs for breakfast, seeing Torren asleep on the sofa. Waking him, but he was still drunk with sleep, knowing his flight was less than an hour.

Thinking we were all so tired and we overslept, but then he wanted to know why Shawney didn't wake us? She is always up early.

Hurrying to her room, knocking on the door, but no answer came.

Train thought she must still be hurting from what transpired yesterday, which is why she didn't come down for dinner.

I know Torren was hurting too, and he didn't want to go and console her with everything going on.

When Torren woke up to the knocking and his dad calling out her name. "Dad, what is wrong?"

"Son, you all overslept, and you will miss your flight."

"Oh my goodness, I was so tired I completely forgot. Dad, do you think we will get another flight?"

Seeing this, his Dad hurried to call the airport.

Receiving the news that Torren and the children's flight had been cancelled, and their next flight was scheduled for the eighteenth, at nine am.

Train, thought, 'How is that possible when everyone overslept? Who could have cancelled it?'

Calling to confirm, Tain wanted to know who had changed it? Hearing the agent say, "It has no record of who changed it?"

Asking if there were any earlier flights than the eighteen? Only to hear the person saying, "Sorry, but the next available flight is on the twenty-third, nothing earlier, Sir."

Looking to where Torren was, to let him know about the flight change, I didn't see when he left.

Walking up the stairs, Train went and knocked at his door, hearing it was open. Train open and enter. Torren was sitting on his bed, leaning back with his hand behind his head and his eyes closed. "Son, the earliest flight is on the eighteenth. I couldn't get an earlier flight."

"I know, Dad."

"You know, but how?"

"Dad, Shawney changed the flight last night before she leaves."

"Torren, how is that possible when she has overslept?"

"Dad, Shawney left last night. She left a note saying for me to join her next week, but why didn't she tell me she was leaving?"

"Left, but how is that possible? And why didn't anyone see when she left?"

"I am sorry, Dad, this is all my fault. I should have been there to console her after what happened with Candis.

Dad, I haven't seen her after the incident, and now she is gone and must be hurting, really badly."

"No son, take courage, if she were angry, she won't have gotten another appointment, but look at it this way, it is only a week, and you will be with her."

"I know, Dad, but I miss her so much. So why can't Candis see that?"

'Understanding just how he was feeling, but what can I say, she asked us to conceal their marriage?'

Train notices the tears seeping down, although Torren never opens his eyes.

Walking out of Torren's room, Train knew he had to put a stop to Candis. His mind was in shambles. Train knew Torren was really hurting, and Shawney was the only one who could heal that hurt.

But, by not communicating with each other concerning this decision, it what's hurting him so much.'

Becoming angry about what Candis had done to him, Train went to his room to avoid any conflict or confrontation which would affect the others.

He felt like the days were lengthening, and the children were constantly crying and not eating. Also, Torren hasn't left his room.

Wednesday morning at the breakfast table, broken and frustrated, Train couldn't hold back the silence any longer and said, "Candis, I must commend you for the excellent task you have performed."

"What's that, Dad?" Seeing how happy she was.

Everyone wanted to know what Candis had done, so they looked at Dad as he said, seeing how happy Candis was. "Once again, you were able to steal my happiness."

"Dad, I am sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying. How did I do that?"

When Carl sees the tears in his Dad's eyes, he knew immediately what his Dad meant and understood why he was crying and hurting so much.
