Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Epic

About 12 miles off from the main path between Zand and the oasis, there was this certain hidden spot.

It was just countless rolling dunes, rising meters up from the ground. All though it was unusual, nobody that passed by the locale gave the place a second thought.

[You have arrived at the hidden temple.]

At the tallest dune, it seemed that there was nothing unusual about the place. But when the harsh winds of the desert blew, some of the sand would get swept away, revealing something underneath the sand. One day, somebody did try to discover what this 'something' was. And what did they find?

Stone. A stone temple? No, just stone. A stone doorway, maybe? Nope. Just a large rock. And, it turned out that all of the dunes in that particular area were built on top of these stones, which was why they rose up so high. So, the explorer concluded that the locale was just an unnatural phenomena, but nothing crazy. It didn't make the place important, so nobody thought anything of the high-rise dunes.

That is, nobody that didn't have power derived from Yatan.

[The temple has acknowledged your relationship with Yatan. It will open its door to its devoted follower.]

"Devoted? I don't know about that..."

As the system concluded its message, The largest dune in the area began to rumble and shake. Countless specks of sand fell, reminiscent of a golden river. But what was actually shaking was the stone the sand was occupying.

Turns out, it was a doorway. A doorway to a hidden Yatan Temple.

"Man, it's so tiresome having to run around the continent to find these temples. If it weren't for these scarce things, I would of reached the highest rating in this class already." The complaint not stopping him, Godspeed began to walk down the steps presented to him.

The Yatan Church is the most persecuted group in all of Satisfy; it's just fact. A group bent on literally destroying the world, and the actual game that everybody loves? Why wouldn't the populace want to demolish those followers?

Because of that, they can't have structures of worship be built out in the open. Most of the temples are built in the most obscure areas, and also built very poorly. The members of the Yatan congregation was always on the move, escaping from the Rebecca Church and its devotees, plus those who see benefit from aligning with them. So of course, looks weren't what the Yatan group cared for. Most of the temples were just open rooms, some grotesque statues here and there, and a high-rise section for the speaker. Some of the temples even had a sacrificial altar when the Servants found sufficient virgins.

'That practice doesn't happen so much anymore, I've heard. Ever since Malacus died, the whole religion has gone on a nosedive... keke.'

At the end of the steps, the place Godspeed entered was a huge room with... nothing. Just a single statue at the end of the room. The statue was supposed to represent God Yatan, but in reality it looked like a human with an animal head--- if whatever the piece was could be called an animal. It had the base figure of a combination between an alligator and a wolf, with antlers at the top of the head and tendrils falling off its chin. It had four 3 inch canines, all straight, while the rest of the teeth were horrendously places and misshaped. As the scales scaled up the fae, the last noticable part of the head was its eyes. Its eyes were... nonexistent. Just holes in the head.

It was all meant to inflict fear.

"The only person that knows what Yatan looks like is the First Servant... probably." With the murmur, he made his way towards the statue, and kneeled. "I've arrived, Yatan."

With a message, the Statues' eyes began to gleam.

[Yatan has acknowledged you.]

[As his []{}(){}[]()(){}{}{}[](), he has given you a difficult trial.]

[As you were successful in the destruction of the 3 Rebecca Churches, it has been deemed that you require a reward.]

Earlier in the day, right after he destroyed the last Rebecca church in the oasis, Godspeed finally opened his reward.

But what it gave him wasn't an overpowered sword, or +200 to all his stats. No, it told him that to receive his reward, he must come to this location and bow down. Although not pleased, he accepted the message, and as a result the location of the hidden temple was revealed on his map.

And here he was, ready for his rewards.

[As Yatan's []{}(){}[]()(){}{}{}[](), it is necessary to inherit as much of his power as possible.]

'Yes~.'

[Your hidden class '[}[)(]]{()))}]}[{'s' rating has risen!

It has now risen to Epic!]

[Your !*#@^&$ Energy has doubled!

All stats have increased by +80!

The natural strength of !*#@^&$ Energy has doubled!]

'Oooh... now this. This is Good.' As a smile began to build on God's face, the next message popped up.

[As a result, more Destruction is required for Accumulation.]

'...Shit.' The budding smile immediately wilted.

[Your Strength has increased by a further 5%.]

[You have learned the skill 'Explosive Counter.']

[The home of the previous owner of your power has been revealed.

Proceed to the location to resume your Quest of Inheritance.]

At the end of the of its benevolence, the statue's eye sockets finally melted into the darkness.

'.....'

"Well... it's mostly good, I guess." Not completely sure if he should be happy with his level up, God chose to ditch those thoughts and admire his new skill.

But right before he could gloss over it, the last system message flashed.

[You are deemed to be in association with the Yatan Church. The Church of Rebecca has marked you dangerous. As a result, you will be persecuted by any area under its influence, and promptly attacked.]
