After several months had gone by...
Ten teams fell short, unable to earn enough badges to qualify for the next round. The second level, "Save Me, Mother," was a shock. After tying the Holy Knights in the first round, we fell to a surprising fourth place, just outside the top three. The audience's gasps were a chorus of disbelief.
We're now here at the Sky Diner's for our celebration. We managed to beat out other teams, and that's what mattered.
Our laughter and cheers filled the air, the sweet taste of victory still on our tongues. But the celebratory mood shattered the moment we heard a grumbling voice from a nearby table.
"Ugh, I lost," the voice whined.
"Can't believe you bet on them," another one scoffed. "They only won because of pure luck."
My stomach clenched. They were talking about us.
"Yeah, pure luck!" a third voice chimed in.
"But they still won enough badges to qualify," a reasonable voice pointed out.
