Mathew stared at the coyote.
For several seconds, he simply stood there.
Nobody said anything.
Carol remained beside the car with one hand resting against the door, her face pale.
Destiny stood behind her father.
Cameron had stopped halfway toward the porch.
Nurys looked like she wanted to turn around and get back into the car.
Mathew's jaw tightened.
Then something inside him finally snapped.
He turned toward the street.
He spread both arms.
"Ha ha! You got us!" he yelled.
Everyone stared at him.
Mathew pointed angrily toward the houses lining the street.
"This was low-key creepy, not gonna lie, but my family and I have had the longest two weeks of our lives and I'll really appreciate some form of normalcy. You've had your fun, but this is no longer funny!"
His voice echoed down the street.
A curtain shifted in one of the neighboring houses.
Then another.
A front door opened.
An elderly man stepped onto his porch.
