Meanwhile, Ryuchen just finished his meeting.
A sudden meeting from his grandfather, the chairman, with the board of directors in the morning, and their sudden decision of him being the chief executive of the company made his head ache. His father, the previous chief executive of their company suddenly decided to give him the position, saying he wants to focus his attention on managing his owned business like a hotel and casino in another country and leave the construction industry to him.
Ryuchen was about to lose his mind when he suddenly remembered his wife, he looked at his watch and saw the time. He still had forty minutes before his wife come to his office so he decided to fix his coat and hair first before calling her when he heard a soft knock on his office door.
"Come in." he said, fixing her hair in front of the mirror in the corner of his office.
He saw Robin enter his office in the reflection from the mirror, along with two guards and a woman who immediately greeted him.
Ryuchen frowned and looked at them.
"Is there something wrong?" he asked.
"Mr. President, I went to the lobby after the meeting to wait for Madam as you said, and saw these two guards in the lobby and told me that they wanted to talk to you."
Ryuchen started to feel dizzy all of a sudden, his heart pounding thinking that something bad happened to his wife. But he realized it was too early for Chloe to come to his office, so he tried to calm himself and went back to his seat.
"What's the matter?" he asked.
"Good morning, Mr. President." the man who looks like the head of the security guard greeted him again. "This female receptionist didn't attend the morning assembly and made a mistake."
"Mistake?"
"M-Mr. President, please let me explain--."
Ryuchen raised his hand, asking the woman to shut up and let the guard talk.
"Madam came to the company past ten o'clock in the morning and the female receptionist didn't know Madam and let her stay in the waiting area in the lobby. I'm sorry Mr. President, if I knew from the start that the female receptionist didn't attend the morning assembly, I would personally assist Madam to your office."
"How dare you do that to my wife." he looked at the woman sharply.
"I... I-I'm sorry, Mr. President." the female receptionist said, bowing her head.
"Where is my wife now?" he asked, trying to calm himself.
"Madam left the company Mr. President." said the other guard. "I tried to stop her from leaving, but Madam told me that she would just talk to you when you get home and explain everything. Madam also asked me to mention it to you, Mr. President, that the female receptionist was innocent and she was just doing her job."
Ryuchen rubbed his forehead, he knew the guard was telling the truth because that was exactly what he thought his wife would say. At least he was a bit relieved that she was not upset or angry at him.
"And why did my wife left if she came early in the company?"
The two guards just look at the female receptionist, so she has no choice but to speak.
"I... while M-Madam was waiting, Ma-Miss L-Lyka came--."
"WHAT?!"
Ryuchen's blood boiled in anger in an instant just hearing that woman's name.
"Didn't Robin informed you all that she was not allowed to enter my company anymore!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. President. I didn't know, I'm sorry." the female receptionist bowed. "When I saw Miss Lyka earlier, I informed her that there was a woman that said she was your newly hired secretary, just like what I always doing every time she comes to your office. I didn't know it was Madam and I didn't know either that they knew each other and suddenly confronted Madam, I got scared when Miss Lyka's voice suddenly rose and looked mad so I called the guards and stopped her from hurting the Madam."
"My wife got hurt?" his face darkened.
"No, Mr. President. It was the opposite." she said, causing him to look at the woman who seems proud that he couldn't explain, her eye lit up as if she's recalling the event. "We saw Madam slapped Lyka on the cheek and left a mark, and we immediately stopped her when she was about to attack the Madam."
Even Ryuchen felt proud when he heard what the woman said, his wife seems to know how to fight back now and he was happy for her.
"You are lucky that my wife wants to protect you."
"Thank you, Mr. President. It will not happen again and I will make sure to show my gratitude the next time I see Madam."
Ryuchen looks at the guards.
"And make sure to remove all access of that woman so she couldn't enter the company."
"Yes, Mr. President."
After Ryuchen dismissed the three employees, he couldn't help but to rub his face using his hands. It was supposed to be his wife's first day at work and she already experienced those kinds of things early in the morning, but he was still relieved knowing that she didn't get hurt.
Ryuchen took his phone inside his pocket and called Chloe to ask where she was, but she's not answering his calls. He tried several times but she was still not picking up his call so he decided to go home.
"Cancel all my appointments today, I will go home."
Robin did nothing but nod, he was aware now that his boss changed, especially the way he treats his wife. He looks like a different person, so it was no wonder that his boss will decide to go home after he finds out what happened to his wife.
Ryuchen quickly went straight to Chloe's apartment, he knocked on the door several times but no one opened it.
Hasn't she home yet?
But where would she go if she was not in her apartment, Jason was not in the country because Janna asked for a two week leave and said that they were going to have a family vacation abroad. He realized that he really did not know anything about his wife, where does she often go? What things does she often do? Nothing.
Ryuchen decided to sit in front of Chloe's apartment door to wait for her, and suddenly remembered the time he saw his wife sleeping on the sofa. His heart feels heavy, thinking that Chloe also felt that way back then every time she was waiting for him to come home. But all he did was ignore her, and didn't appreciate all the things she did for him.
He felt useless, unworthy. He always talked big, but in reality he hadn't done anything yet for Chloe.
Ryuchen did nothing but to reflect on the things he did back then, and appreciate his wife for having a kind heart despite all the things she went through.
He was in deep thoughts when he suddenly heard the elevator open, he knew it was Chloe because they are the only ones living on the side of that floor.
He was about to stand up to greet her when he suddenly lost the strength in his legs, causing him to fall on his knees and pressed his hands to the floor for support so that he wouldn't fall completely. Then, his gaze turned to his watch and saw that it was past eight at night, and realized that he was sitting there for almost nine hours. No wonder his legs lost strength.
"Are you all right?" he heard Chloe asked.
Ryuchen saw the worry on her face as he looked at her, he was relieved knowing that there was no hint of anger on her face.
"I'm alright." then turned back to sit down again to stretch his legs. "My legs are just numb from sitting for a long time-- AGHH!"
Ryuchen loses his strength in an instant when Chloe suddenly taps his right leg, she looks like an innocent child who doesn't know that he felt hundreds of thousands of needles were piercing his legs because of what she was doing. There was hardly any sound in his screams, and couldn't even get angry with her so he couldn't do anything but to endure the tingling sensations he feels while Chloe continued tapping his legs.
It was painful but ticklish at the same time, that he couldn't stop himself from laughing. He tried to stop Chloe but she seems enjoying and still continue tapping his numb legs.
"Still numb?" Chloe asked while smiling.
"...No, not anymore." his out of breathe. "I don't... hah... have any strength either."
Chloe laughed at his answer, as if she had enjoyed it.
"Why are you sitting here?" she asked, sitting next to him.
"I'm waiting for you... to say I'm sorry." he said, calming himself to regain his strength. "I didn't know that you were in the company, and it was late when I found out what happened. I honestly don't know why that woman was there either because I had clearly cut off anything that has between us."
"I know."
Ryuchen was a bit surprised, he really was expecting his wife to be upset or at least disappointed in him that's why he explain.
"The guard explained that you had forbidden Lyka to enter your company."
He was relieved knowing that his employee did a great job.
"I came here immediately after I found out what happened." he said then leaned his head against Chloe's shoulder and took a deep breath, he can relax now that she's with him. "I'm sorry, if only I knew that you were there, I would personally pick you up."
"And... you've been waiting here since then?" she sounds surprise.
"Yeah, I've been waiting for you here for more than eight hours, you are not picking up my calls either."
"...Eight hours?" she was shocked. "Why did you wait for me here, you can wait for me inside your apartment."
"I... I got worried." he whispers. " So... I never thought about that."
"Does that mean you haven't had dinner yet?"
Ryuchen's stomach suddenly growled, as response to Chloe's question. His cheeks become hot as he immediately turned to her side to hugged her and buried his face on her neck. He felt that she was holding back her laughter, so he buried his face even more because of embarrassment.
"Are you laughing at me?" he asked her, hiding his face to her neck. "It's your fault, you need to cook for me because you didn't answered my calls."
"Why are you blaming me?" she hits his chest. "Did I tell you not to eat?"
"I forgot." he said and looked at her. "I didn't even eat my lunch because I was worried about you."
Chloe was stunned, she still couldn't believed that everything will change between them and that one day he would worry about her.
"Fine..." she said and messed his hair before she stand up. "What do you want to eat, big guy?"
It was Ryuchen's turned to be stunned and subconsciously grabbed his hair that Chloe messed up, he finds it cute and adorable.
"I will eat anything, as long as you cook it." he said and stand to follow her.
When they entered Chloe's apartment, he immediately felt at home. The warmth and comfort quickly embraced him as if to indicate that he was welcome.
"Sit there while I'm cooking." Chloe said then made him sit on the couch in the living room.
The kitchen was still visible from the living room so he was able to watch her while she was busy cooking. He was overwhelmed, thinking about how fun it is to watch his wife enjoying cooking.
After about an hour, Ryuchen quickly stood up to help Chloe when he saw that she was preparing the food on the table.
"My wife, I hope you still work as my secretary." he said as they ate.
"Of course, I already agree to be your secretary... but I'm just going to work until Robin's leave is over."
Ryuchen's face lit up, now they will have time to spend together and he will make sure she will fall in love with him again.
After they finished eating and clean the dishes, Ryuchen notice that it was already past ten o'clock in the evening so he decide to leave. Even though he doesn't want to leave, he doesn't have choice and he doesn't want to disturb his wife rest either.
Ryuchen was about to leave, when he suddenly thought of something.
But...
Now that he was there inside Chloe's apartment and they spend time together just fine, why do he have to leave?
"What's wrong?" Chloe asked when he suddenly stopped walking out of her apartment.
"I... I think.. I forgot my card key in my office." he said as he reached into his pocket, he even took out his pocket to show that his key wasn't there.
"What?" Chloe was surprise, is he that so worried about her that he forgot his own card key? "Why don't you call your assistant to bring your card key here?"
"He's with his fiance." he lied. "So I don't want to disturb their time together."
"Can you just take the key in your office?" she ask.
"I'm too full and tired to go back to my office right now."
"Call the management to ask if there's a spare key--."
"I own this building, I only have one card key to my apartment."
"Then... what's you plan now?" she looks worried. "Do you want me to--."
"Can I just stay here tonight?"
