"Remind me again why we're here." Scar said hiding behind a building with Rebel. It was a jewellery shop which sold incredibly rare items and even pawns things off.
"To get your weapons back." Rebel said casually.
"But why does this guy want me to be his partner in crime? What would this accomplish?" She asked looking around.
"Don't know. Maybe the fact that he knows you're the most wanted criminal in clover kingdom he might want to bring some sort of war between it and other kingdoms." He said then chuckled a little at the thought. "Idiot." He muttered to himself. Just then the guy came towards them.
"So what do you want us to get?" Scar asked impatiently.
"Relax, it's nothing too fancy. This is a competition. Whoever can get an item from the store without getting caught gets to keep the weapons and the thing they stole, got it?" He said looking around cautiously.
"Yeah, but what does this accomplish. I mean if one of us gets caught they'll be sent to prison not getting anything out of it." Scar said frankly.
"Yup." He said then immediately made his move by climbing toward the roof.
"Seems like you're starting." Rebel said looking up at the guy.
"Jerk." Scar said following behind and also climbing the roof. On the roof she could see the number of guards on duty, like bees, there was never a bind spot for her to enter. "Dammit." She muttered then saw through a window on the roof that the guy already made his way in. "Great." Scar said following him inside. As she got in the lights were off but all the jewellery reflected the moonlight so it was easy to see them. The guy was already looking at his pick of diamonds and watches. "Are you insane?" Scar whispered to him. He looked back with a carefree smile.
"No, just winning the deal." He said taking something then pushing a button on the wall. A piercing alarm came from the shop and the light immediately turned on. Scar didn't realise what was going on until she saw the guy leaving from the ceiling waving a slight goodbye and most of the guards surrounded the shop. Scar ran through the shop then something immediately caught her eyes. She looked on a display case at a lone pendant, the shape of a star sitting on a velvety red cushion. Scar immediately snatched it away before making her escape. She hurried toward their designated meeting area and threw the pendent at him.
"What the hell was that?!" She screamed. "I can't believe you stabbed me in the back like that. But what should I expect from trusting an honourless thief." She said grabbing the pendent then walking off.
"I'm many things, but not honourless. The bet was whoever can bring back a trinket without getting caught gets the stuff. And since I didn't get caught I get the swords and the rarity I got. Don't worry I won't take yours, that wasn't part of our agreement after all." He said following behind her while explaining. "You know I was a pirate before I became a bandit, and pirates have codes. To this day I have never broken one." He said.
"Why are you still following us?" Scar asked irritated.
"I'm just waiting for another challenge to come to mind, cause honestly betting something that originally wasn't mine is kind of fun." He said with a smile. Scar glared at him as if she wanted to remove his head from his shoulders.
"By the way, what's your name?" Rebel asked changing the subject.
"It's Slain." He said.
"Well Slain, what the hell were you thinking bringing me here?" Scar exclaimed with an uneasy tone. "You should know where I'm from right?" She asked.
"Of course, that's actually why I chose this place." He said with a proud smile.
"You are an idiot. I'm from Clover Kingdom yet you bring me to the Diamond Kingdom?! I'm not one of these people! Just being here is a crime." She said cautiously looking around.
"Exactly. I actually wanted to see how much they were going to charge you for trespassing in the kingdom, trespassing on private property, an attempt at theft..." He listed seeming to be a little excited.
"You're an idiot."
"Hey, if you feel guilty you can always go back and put that pendant back." He suggested. Scar shook her head.
"No way, I'm not putting it back after all that crap I went through to get it, besides I feel like I've seen it somewhere before." She muttered the last part then wore the pendant around her neck.
"A little girly for you, don't you think." Slain said with a giggle. Scar just glared at him.
"He doesn't get to wear trinkets like that very often. Let him have this one." Rebel said with a knowing smile. They walked a little further before slain spoke up.
"So why does the Clover Kingdom hate you?" He asked.
"You actually don't know? I thought word spreads fast among the kingdoms." Rebel said thoughtfully.
"It does but I was overseas for most of my life and some news never got passed the harbour." He said.
"Well, it's not the best subject to bring up with him considering this is a crime he never actually committed." Rebel said watching Scar from behind as she picked up the pace. "You see, he killed the princess of Clover Kingdom." He whispered over to Slain.
"The princess?" He asked a little confused.
"Yup. It's been decades since her death so not many people remember there ever being a princess of clubs, but the most of the people living in Clover Kingdom know about her murder and are still extremely angry about it." Rebel said casually.
"But isn't there a new king now?"
"Yeah, her fiancé." Rebel said. Just then scar cleared her throat signalling rebel to stop talking. She motioned for Rebel to come closer and she bent down next to him to be at his eye level.
"How about we don't tell him everything about us, alright? Better yet, why don't we just ditch him already." She whispered threatening.
"But he has a great sense of humour, and actually listens." Rebel said with a small shrug making Scar glared at him again.
