Chapter 11 - Scar the Undead pt 11

Scar and Slain were now following a map by order of the king to retrieve something while Rebel and Mel were held captive by the same king.

"Do you have any idea where we're going?" Slain asked reluctantly tagging along behind Scar.

"Of course I do, I have the map." Scar said in an irritated voice staring at the map with intense eyes.

"You know, having the map doesn't automatically mean that you know where you're going. give it here." Slain said taking the map off scars hands. "I can't believe this." Slain said with a sigh. "We've been going round in a circle." He said scowling at Scar who immediately flinched at him. "That's it, I'm leaving," he said letting the map glide to the floor as he started walking away.

"W-what do you mean you're leaving?!" Scar exclaimed claiming the map and running after him.

"Exactly what I'm saying. You're impossible to work with." He said.

"Well, we literally just met a day ago! But what about Rebel?"

"Leave him. They're not going to do anything bad to a talking wolf anyway. He's useful." He said casually walking off, he was then stopped by scar who grabbed onto his sleeve. He looked back at her a little surprised at her sudden gesture.

"He is the only one I have left. I can't lose him." She said desperately. Slain looked at her contemplating on what to do, then something came to mind as if he remembered something. He gave a huge exasperated sigh before replying.

"Fine, the sooner we get the thing the king wants, the sooner Rebel will be safe, right?" He said with a wry smile. Scar looked up in surprise then wiped away the brimming tears in her eyes.

"So... which way?" He asked giving her back the map. Scar looked at the map flustered still thinking the map doesn't make any sense. "Seriously, almost to tears with the desperate cry and you still don't know where we're going." He said exhausted.

"Well, you can't blame me, I usually follow Rebel's nose." She said in embarrassment.

"I can't believe you? The forest is practically you're home, yet you can't go anywhere without your mutt." Slain mocked.

"Well, we mostly cared about food and shelter, we didn't care as long as we survived another day."

"I'm sorry, then what do you bring to the team?" Slain asked with an amused voice.

"Talking about this isn't getting us any further to-" Scar was interrupted by a sudden sharp sensation on her neck. She lightly touched the scratch and saw the blood dripping down her finger. Behind her she noticed an arrow stuck to the ground. She immediately looked ahead. In front of them stood a woman holding a bow and arrow and a muscular man holding a huge axe.

"Who are you?" Slain asked with unease.

"That doesn't concern you." The woman said. Scar suddenly fell to the ground coughing up blood. In the corner of her eye, she noticed the tip of the arrow was tainted black.

"Are you ok?" Slain asked but the man shoved the axe in front of Slain stopping him in his tracks.

"W-What is this?" Scar asked, her voice trembling.

"For now the poison should be taking effect." The woman casually.

"What are you talking about?! Poison shouldn't affect her at all?!" Slain shouted just to receive the blunt end of the axe in his gut. It knocked him over on the spot.

"Of course poison effects her." The woman said picking up the arrow that planted to the ground. "The poison will affect her like it would affect any other person. the difference is as she's close to death her body will cleanse itself before she dies completely, and that's how the undead stays undead." She then turned to Slain and kneeled down next to him. "So the question is, how can you actually kill an immortal person?"

"That's stupid! You just said she won't die!" He glared at her. The woman looked at him for a second before stabbing the arrow into his hand.

"You shouldn't shout like that." She stood up and walked over to Scar who continued to cough up blood. "The answer was through beheading." She said then held her hand out. the man passed her the axe.

"T-that doesn't make any sense. Her head will just grow back." Slain struggled through the pain as he bit his lips.

"But are sure it's the same head? Though the surface is the same will their memories be the same? Their morals, thoughts, consciousness, ideas?" She then raised the axe over Scars neck. It was the first time Scar had felt fear of knowing she will die. She was afraid that she wouldn't be herself once her head is gone. Will she forget everything? Rebel? "That's how you kill the undead." The woman said swinging the axe down with presicion.
